That's the original Prince band right there baby! Dre, Dez, Matt and freaking BOBBY Z! All your missing is Ms. sexy Lisa flipping her hair and that's the original freaking band! WOW!!!!!!! They even sound like the "dirty mind" sound, you can tell these are the musicians behind the early Prince Rock/New Wave/Funk dirty sound that made him scare the industry initially. This was the breath of fresh air behind a genius....
yep. i think i even seen Brown Mark over there as well. this is nice mix of the revolution & pre-revolution. good to see them all together, would've been cool to see Lisa, Wendy, Gail, and even the purple one himself in that room
What a treat, I was just in the mood to hear this single from out of nowhere, and stumbled upon this live rehearsal! I remember when they used to rock this on the local R&B station when this song was first released.. we used to wear the 45 of Kelly's Eyes out in our house - def. good times growing up back then with this music.
This is 2 damn cool!!! Timeless music and timeless musicians!!! Having gone through heart issues myself, I'm so, so happy 2 see Bobby Z. jammin' with the rest of the crew who helped craft the Minneapolis Sound!! Way 2 go André!!
Man this is so cool! I got to meet them on the 9th. Yep I...Angelique got to meet Andre and Dez and see THE REBELS perform. Made my heart bleed purple!
They love those Mesa Amps in Minneapolis! Great sound and so good to see these guys playing. And of course....I would love to see Jesse Johnson there.....I can't help it. Peace.
Dang it's just a rehearsal and if you're going to criticize at least make sure your grammar is correct. I don't understand why people love to complain about everything especially if it's free. Normally one wouldn't have the opportunity to sit in on a rehearsal. Smh
Would LOVE Dez, Andre and Prince to just regroup for a small venue only tour. Just hit a city and blow the roof off. Leave egos at the door and go for it. They would get paid so that's not even up for discussion.
Bobby ZZZZ! The man!! Rock solid pocket with feel!! Matt The Dr. FINK!! AMAZING and They are STILL doing it today!!! God bless! Jameraq & The 7th Revival
This is exactly how any band will sound in a rehearsal room believe it or not. Raw and hard on the ears, for starters they are all in the same room fighting for airspace and that drumkit like all drumkits is always going to drown out everything else. There is no way a vocalist can sing without straining when a drumkit is in the room unless they are properly mic'ed. It is actually a very close perfomance to the original but in order to get what you hear on record you need to record each instrument/vocal layer in isolation multiple takes until you get the best performance then level, EQ, compress and add effects then mixdown and master. A lot of skill is required to get it sounding good. If this was recorded as above then it would sound very close to the record so I'd say this was a good performance regardless of what you hear here.
Because all rehearsal do sound AWFUL as there is no sound seperation and the drumkit will distort everything. There is NO band that sounds good in a rehearsal room like this, its not possible. The performance is spot on and very close to the record but you will never get a good recording by recording what you hear in the room.
