@Matthew Allen No these fans where peasants not to be silent for this. Bocelli gave them a moment of magic and they just couldn't keep their mouths shut.
You think people would have a clue that the most unlikely sporting accomplishment in history had just taken place. It’s cool to have him there to sing but there’s a reason Super Bowl halftime shows are pop stars, not a Broadway cast singing Les Mis. He sounded great and the crowd cheered. These opera nerds need to chill out
It’s different culture in Britain they have no respect for this kind of thing. Which it’s fair enough it’s not a European country they shouldn’t have brought an opera
A proper Tenor like Pavarotti would have drowned out the crowd on his own, especially when amplified up through the stadium P.A system. Bocelli isn't an Opera singer by any stretch of the imagination, he's a Pop-Classical singer and something of a hack.
@@Stonemeister and yet Bocelli still struggled despite the fact he was practically eating the Mic 🎤 just goes to illustrate how weak his voice is in reality without all the studio gimmicks. Pavarotti would have stood about 2'ft back from that mic and still drowned out the crowd and blown the roof off.
+1lopimoss1 I'm italian too and believe depends : ) For example there are others exaple named AMICI ( means "friends" ) by Maria de Filippi and believe me they are simply HUMANITY's CRIME...BUT BOCELLI SIMPLY LEGENDARY AND AMAZING TOO...
No, it's European culture my friend. It begun with free men questioning everything through the scientific method in Greece; then making it fair through the law by Romans; then spread around the world by Spaniards; then reaching its peak in the Renaissance through all Europe with all kind of inventions, discoveries and art; then making free societies with the French illustration; then making it economically feasible by the English; then making it efficient to the detail by the Germans; then praising and immortalising the brightest minds by the Swedish. All Europeans have contributed shaping the world. Our poisson is religion and all kind of brainless and fairy tales. My favorite invention? a bike. I own four. My most beloved possession is a Pinarello Dogma, it's pure and simple the highest expression of mechanical engineering. It's obvious I ride my bike everyday and I follow the classics, Monuments and Grand Tours. Peace in our hearts, Science in our minds, and healthy live riding a bike :-)
This is the best title win ceremony in the history of the sport. So classy. Hearing opera in a stadium of football fans - who would have ever thought. That season was magical in many respects.
Alexander Maddox you don't sing along to opera and there's no way any more than maybe 2 of them knew the words. It's not karaoke. Think that's what the OP was saying.
If you think you have to know the language to recognize or understand music, then don't bother responding. It would be the first time a wall replied to me.
Enough to bring a grown man to tears , such a class act is Bocelli and Claudio to make it happen. A real touch of drama .fantastic . Italians always have style . Who the hell is beyonce . Nuff said.
@@e_x_i_l_eita1995 How is it disrespectful to cheer and call the name of someone who is performing at your stadium when your team just won the Premier League?
The most iconic moment in PL history for me... not even a Leicester fan. Completely transcends football what that team of underdogs did and then to top it off with the mesmerising Bocelli was something else. Genuinely still gives me goosebumps
I know Leicester did something special winning the league, but Bocelli singing for this crowd is like Robert De Niro appearing on an episode of Coronation Street.
Steven Hutchinson why does it all have to be about the fans, this will have been the one thing Ranieri wanted, the least they could do is just listen for a couple of minutes, considering the fans had nothing to do with Leicester’s success
I was there at the game and I got goosebumps listening to bocellis performance. I understand people may be upset because singing along to an opera song is disrespectful but this was Leicesters greatest moment in their 132 year history and this was at a football stadium not an opera house.
I heard ruckus.. Not “singing along”. It was disrespectful, no matter how excited the fans were at their “great moment”. Bocelli was only there to ADD to the greatness, despite the venue. MANY Singers are afforded Much More respect at Football half-time shows (ie: The Super Bowl) than was this Great & Iconic Talent. Locale is truly NO excuse for such a lack of civility.
@@ernestsalisbury2766 You seem to be very nice, for this reason, I am going to give you a piece of advice. Open the dictionary and look for 'Respect' meaning. Good luck ✌️
@@simonep.7974 For your limited information I am an English teacher. All you keyboard warriors out there who are stuck in lock down, and are bored out of your wits, it is you who have no respect. Everybody but you (plural) seem to have a problem. Mr Bocelli himself seems to be as happy as the fans in the stadium. If there is an article in any Italian newspaper where he says otherwise please post it. Oh, by the way, thanks for the English lesson. Buona fortuna. PS if you listen closely you will hear that the crowd are actually singing in Italian
ERNEST SALISBURY Hey teacher, at minute 1:40 Ranieri is so embarrassed and is asking crowd to calm down, because they were just singing their usual football songs. Right after there's clearly a technical audio adjustment to 'mute' crowd. You can still hear crowd don't care at minute 5:50, one second after the performance they keep with their usual singing. I am more critical with the choice to bring Bocelli in the stadium, rather than with supporters themselves. Unrespectful supporters are unfortunately nearly in every stadium.
Metodi Ivanov if you want to watch bocelli sing, go watch a concert of his. If you want to watch football fans celebrate the greatest sporting achievement of their lifetime then watch this
6 years later and I still get goosebumps listening to this! God knows the next time there will be a moment like this in the PL from a Leeds Utd fan I loved this underdog season! 👏👏👏
Artificial Ryumochnaya the crowd have supported their team through everything. Everyone expected them to be relegated that season but they won the league. I saw Boccelli at an Ed Sheehan concert and he is amazing, but I don’t think these fans care
@@rmx39 It's like John Bercow calling for order in a big room full of mad politics. And it's not against you, but Boccelli is an absolute legend, and I know that Leicester fans have the right to be ecstatic, but when Boccelli's singing, you should be quiet.
Topt Trfhw Ma abiterai in un paesino di merda, mi sembra di averti già incontrato, che abiti tipo vicino ad un paesino della Sicilia... Me lo aveva detto qualcun'altro o forse eri tu, non ricordo
Regardless of everything, hearing how the music hangs over the crowd and vice versa makes me think how beautiful the world is, so different and powerful that it can bring so many things together.
It was nice seeing Claudio back at the ground to pay his respects during the last match, with so many other players and managers, with Con Te Partiro playing in the background, the Chairman's son was barely holding it together, it was just as emotional if not more so than the above video.
A true class act is Mr Ranieri! God blesses him, and he`s repaying that with this touch of -well, class-what else do we say? And as a Manchester United fan, it`s an honour to have seen Leicester triumph this year. And inviting Andrea Bocelli over , by way of a gift to the fans-well, it`s typical of the grace-filled man and his club. Well done Leicester-and may Europe be good to you next year! "Time to win again" as Andrea sings for the day!
signoguns Then they shouldnt invite opera stars. Invite some 1 hit popstar, so the fans can sing along. Its the same on funerals. You dont sing there either.
This is one of the best things I've seen. Ever. in sport. In anything. Beautiful, magical, powerful on so many levels. The Leicester story is unlikely to ever be repeated. Enjoy it. Treasure it. This was the most improbable of sporting achievements and to capture that mood so perfectly with these performances by Bocelli, truly did justice to such a fantastic moment for football. Thank you Leicester. You have brought footballing joy to those who hold this sport close to their heart. An absolute breath of fresh air and the best thing to happen to football in many years.
If you take a look outside of England, you'll see it has been "repeated" numerous times. Something even crazier happened in the German league in 1998: Kaiserslautern, a team that had just been promoted from the 2nd league that year, won the title in the Bundesliga that very year. Kind of like if Huddersfield won the Premier League this year. THAT is one the biggest things ever in sport.
Huddersfield Town can be compared to this. Strong relegation candidates, then they get to play offs and win 2 penalty shootouts to get to the premier league. I no they didn't win the league but a lot of people look past that achievement because it was not in a top league.
i know, but they have respect when there is a one minute silence for any kind of reason, i dont expect them to be quiet for the rest of the day, it was just 10 minutes or so
I think this is perhaps the age we live in, but the minutes silence is being superseded by a minutes applause, people just can't keep their shit together. On reflection, I get your comment. Even so, having attended many football matches, I can tell you that when the juices get flowing, calm thoughts are not the order of the day.
I have no idea to this day what that Italian man was singing about. Truth is, I don’t want to know. Some things are best left unsaid. I’d like to think they were singing about something so beautiful, it can’t be expressed in words, and makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, those voices soared higher and farther than anybody in a gray place dares to dream. It was like some beautiful bird flapped into our drab little cage and made those walls dissolve away, and for the briefest of moments, every last man felt free.
Martin Garcia no man, "con te partirò" is an other song, this song is "nessun dorma" written by Giacomo Puccini in 1925 while "con te partirò" was written in 1995
1:32 Bocelli begins Nessun Dorma 1:58 crowd has quieted down, not silent, and begins to listen 3:55 crowd has joined Bocelli 6:27 Bocelli begins Con Ti Partiro
Grande, A. Bocelli. 💖 Grazie, grandissima Italia 🇮🇹💖👏
What a spine tingling moment, I've never experienced something like this in football, what a beautiful moment when he sings the last part and shows the Leicester kit!! 2015 2016 what a year
Man, grow up. They don't care about Opera. They don't even know who tf this guy is. They are enjoying it the way they want to and singing along. More power to them if anything.
3 years on, Leicester are returning towards the top again. Great memories, epic season in which many things fell into place at the same time. Best thing which happened in English football for a generation. From a Liverpool fan.
This gives me way more feels than the Euro 2020 opening ceremony. Honestly I think the fans here are fine. You have to remember they are so so so so so excited and happy. Frankly it's even a a bit unfair to subject them to something so refined and expect them to fully appreciate it in that moment. Football is everything to some of them and this first title win was huge. Many will normally have no business listening to opera but it definitely hits them all. After all singing is something football fans have a passion for too. Bocelli seems to understand the noise and frankly as an Italian artist he likely understands passion. It's a football stadium not a fancy opera house, he could know what to expect. Besides, the contrast of 'class' shall we say is partly what makes it so beautiful.
100% This was one of the most iconic moments not just in football or sport but possibly in general in our lifetime. It transcended football and opera. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it before.
If Mr Bocelli wasn't Italian would you still be so upset? I can see that you are very proud to be one. No harm in that. I also wasn't aware that you are a member of the Italian royal family (must admit I didn't know Italy had one).
Did you watch Andrea's face? Man was absolutely loving it. Pretty sure his entire career is "showing his talent" in silent rooms. Let him have a party for once
It is not a lack of respect. They don't go to the Opera. They don't know who this guy is. But I can guarantee you, there will never be a performance of his like this again.
@@samtorr3947 It is definitely a lack of respect. Let's say you're English and go to an Indian person's house for dinner. Do you whip out your fish and chips whilst they're cooking you their best curry?...I hope you'd say no. You don't need to understand something to show respect. Something all parents should teach their kids to stop this kind of thing happening.
@@Chris-vn2nf That is a complete fallacy. It is nothing like the example you gave doesn't compare for many reasons. In the UK it is common to sing along with vocal performances, especially at football games, it is just part of the culture. A better comparison would be an Indian person eating in a UK household and the hosts accidently disrespecting one of their traditions or a part of their culture because they did not know it existed. It is not disrespectful in any way, and one who suggests it is are just plain wrong. It implies they knew the traditions in opera and purposefully decided to ignore them, which was not the case.
@@samtorr3947 I mean I'll admit that my example wasn't exact but it made sense. The basis of what I'm saying is that listening to someone is basic respect. It's not that they were singing along, I actually love the singing along in the Nessun Dorma part, very emotional. That part that I found disrespectful was the singing of random songs to the point where Ranieri had to tell them to stop
I was there on this day, my grandad also had this exact sound played while he was carried in during his funeral including the crowd noise, makes you so proud of our team and city, gives me goosebumps to this day RIP grandad. ❤️
i would literally pay a million dollars (if i had it) to watch him live, such a talented singer, amazing voice, nice person. And these people couldnt shup up for ten minutes? Seriously, unacceptable.
This is absolutely Beautiful...so Beautiful. Claudio will forever..forever be remembered for this touch of class. What a Season this was..like no other. Only in England..only in the Premier League. Football's a Beautiful Game..a Cruel Game we all Love to Hate..but we just can not. God Bless Leicester City God Bless Claudio God Bless Andrea.

How on earth did Claudio Ranieri manage to maintain his composure so well!! This reduces me to tears & that's just by pressing the play button. Bocelli has the most amazing voice. Highlight of the season this was. Congratulations Claudio Ranieri and Leicester on winning the premier league, from an AFCB fan. Claudio Ranieri just oozes class.
Everyone crying about the fans not being quiet. They're football fans. Not opera fans. Their club had just won the league title for the first time in their history. They're euphoric. They dont give a shit about the singing in all honesty. Let them have their moment
I just love this man - Andrea !!! So gifted, so humble, so blessed. May the Good Lord keep him around us for another lifetime !!!! Well done Claudio Ranieri and Leceister City FC. Man Utd ffor sure !!!. . .
