The most over-hyped "entertainer" in the history of entertainment, and I should know...I was one of the suckers who paid $60 back in 1990 to go see this show live at Madison Square Garden.
He’s really talented, and his devotion to a character despite the backlash is commendable. And hour back was a level of genius that Kaufman couldn’t even top.
Listen to this you gonna die, I swear you’re gonna crack up. I watched this guy in 1987, and I still can’t stop saying that occasionally when I tell somebody something
This cracks me up every time I watch it I have to at least see it a couple times a week to boost my mood. When my answer is no to anything I reply..No I don't want to see no fucking zebra!!!!!
This guy ruined his career when he appeared on Arsenio Hall and cried in front of a live audience. It was meant as a heartfelt moment but ruined the tough guy persona he had created as many of us, yours truly included, had believed in the whole italian tough guy personality. Not that it matters whether he is jewish, he is, or whatever but he destroyed that image, for me ,and to all my buddies who also thought at the time he was great, and that he had carefully created over a decade. It didnt help that the great Sam Kinison, a man who left us way too soon, mocked Clay's appearance the very same day, again,on Arsenio's show, it actually was like a nail in the coffin, Ford Fairlane was never the Hollywood vehicle Dice thought it would be and his star soon went down faster than a meteorite.
I don't think it would've mattered. I mean his comedy style had run it's course by then. I admit he had his funny moments. But most of his act was about being offensive as can be. You can only surf on that wave for so long. BEfore it's not shocking anymore.
He predicted that he was gonna sell-out Madison Square garden twice-and he did! You could tell if he had to face a real life tough guy-he'ld punk out, though.
I agree! and it's funny cos Bill hated Dice, he said he was a nightmare to work with because he'd draw in the type of crowd Bill hated and generally just didn't like his act.
Whenever people do an impression of Stallone It’s always an impression or Rocky from the first and second movie. Never quite understood that because Stallone doesn’t talk like Rocky at all.
