People who have adhd / add do not have trouble focusing, they can completely hyper focus on something they are super interested in DUE to the brain seeking dopamine , I have recently been referred for an adhd assessment at the age of 57 , I believe I have combined presentation, this has been a relief for me as it has , in retrospect, explained my entire life.

The 2015. Research conclusion on ADHD theory isn't complete because not all ADHD individuals have low dopamine levels. Some have normal dopamine but struggle with concentration due to a spread-thin dopamine system. Difficulty filtering distractions is more about controlling the filtering system than low dopamine. ADHD individuals can hyperfocus, while non-ADHD individuals may show ADHD-like symptoms when their dopamine system is exhausted. This means we need different interventions, focusing on teaching filtering skills, to address ADHD-related problems effectively.

dopamine theories are based on "receptors" theory which likev iruses is not something that was observed in humans with a scientific observation, but rather concocted as a theoretical conclusion in the labs and called a new "science". So I never take without grain of salt anything said about neuron receptors and any little things related to them like dopamine and similar pharmacological concepts, but only as some observations what this or that treatment might be related to, but explanation to which shall not be blindly taken for granted. Indeed the ADHD theory is far from being complete. And the issue with the importance of everything that you describe seems closer home

He literally said it was a hypothesis goofy

This summary sounds me like dated prejudices about ADHD. Unless we recognize the existence of neurodivergence, different brains, still people will continue suffering along their lives, from school to work places.

I do that "pile system" thing in my bedroom 100%. Argh. There's definitely a system to it but to someone else it probably doesn't look great.

I tried to work my way through this lecture. But there are omissions that distort the meaning. It's better to listen to the original lecture.

1 of the most accessible “modulators” you mentioned, Omega 3/Fish Oil compounds has recently been determined to increase likelihood of arrhythmias (at least in adults). Do you have info about this? How would you assess the risk? Thanks for a stimulating (pun intended!) presentation.

I had adhd as a child, teen, in college. I masked it. I then married , had kids, worked, and juggled everything high paced. It worked then. Then after a second volatile marriage with now cptsd and older getting a new job and learning new things OMG!!! add too much coffee and toxic co workers and fluorescent lights my brain was on overdrive and concentrating and remembering was awful. I’m struggling to get to retirement.

"Then" is used to denote a sequence in time, such as "First we did this, then we did that." On the other hand, "than" is used for comparisons. In your sentence, you are comparing the commonness of ADHD to what someone might think, making "than" the appropriate choice.

PPS (no offense intended!!!): the plant is called Gingko Biloba, due to the shape of its leaves, which are almost split into two “lobes” so: bi-loba. Actually it even resembles a little bit the image of the brain when seen from front! (Cfr. this image of a cut through the brain from Wikipedia: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Split_Brain de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Split_Brain#/media/Datei%3AHuman_brain_frontal_(coronal)_section_description_2.JPG )
