in 2000 the immortal Andrew Johns faced Roosters legend Brad Fittler in a classic Prelim final, Both showed why they were the best of there generation.... but who was better? you decide
That handshake at the end shows you what the game meant to joey he hated loosing ,I've heard him say that pass was his greatest regret on the footy field..it totally changed the momentum of this match what makes him the greatest is his killer mentality he always wanted to win he had it all ,he should never be questioned as becoming an immortal he deserves every part of it absolute legend of a player
Johns was the greatest of all time. So dominant... when he got the ball something always happened. He’s unmatched for mine. Thurston would be his closest rival for goat in my opinion. But johns doesn’t want the goat title it seems... he himself called thurston the goat. Then agreed w thurston when thurston called Cameron Smith the goat! Regardless of John’s humility - he is certainly better than smith. I like him better than thurston too but that’s obviously contentious.
@@mburtt10 I'm with ya on that one mate ,would hate to be on the panel of blokes who has to pick the next immortal for me it's a toss up between locky freddy Thurston and cam smith ,then you've got guys like Slater cronk inglis very tough decisions to make
What a video. Two close mates and you could see the disappointment when Joey shook Freddy's hand at the end. Freddy always had more up his sleeve. Awesome video.
Freddy Fittler. Absolute champion bloke. Terrific player, but more importantly, gives plenty of his time to all the kids and the average 'Joe Public' in the street.
Massive Freddy fan ... his reading and timing in his attack is very good, when Freddy intercepted that pass Joey threw more than 10 years later well into his retirement he did exactly the same thing in the Auckland 9s on the same side
I sort of lost interest on Rugby League after Joey retired. He was mesmerizing to watch and always seemed to produce something special in almost every game. Sigh...cant seem to find that spark with players nowadays. These are some of the players whom l loved watching.. 1. Andrew Johns 2. Wally Lewis 3. Darren Lockyer 4. Brad Fitler 5. Jonathan Thurston 6. Benny Elias And throw in Semi Radradra....he revived my interest then left..damn it.
I had the pleasure to be at this game. As a roosters supporter it was an amazing game, especially to make the GF. You could see poor Joey become more and more frustrated as the game went on. I'm sure this game meant a lot to him not only to qualify for the GF but I believe it was Matthew John's last game for the knights before he went to the sharks.
You forgot Laurie Daley. There should be a movie of Fittler and Daley marking up on each other at 6. Johns-Daley-Fittler for NSW has got to be the best 7, 6, 4 combination there ever was.
can u please make a video like a trailer about the rivalry between souths and roosters to get the fans pumped for sundays big match? and please dont be biased lol make it even
Fittler, easy Answer. He could play in the forwards, dummy half, Halfs, center or Wing and still Excelle and have an Influence on games, Johns could only play in the Halfs, they tried and he couldnt perform on the Times he was selected as dummy half.
why play joey anywhere other than half if he dominated and was the best player i the world while at halfback by saying that you're saying luke lewis is better than thurston cos he has had a good impact from wing, centre, 5/8, halfback and back row
@@petersievers8479 if anyone of those positions were vacant fittler could fill in, if johns gets injuried the games are lost and it showed all the games newcastle lost without him
