I started crying when he said goodbye to Pearl, remembering how he was the one that wanted a sister. I keep crying until the end. Happy for Andrew and will definitely read his newsletter.

Andrew leaving hit me hard. He’s always such a bright light. Always so cheerful and funny but so thoughtful and intelligent. I can’t imagine not seeing him for 2 years. I’m sure he will have a wonderful time and experience. Wish him well.

Andrew will be missed so much by all of us! He’s a wonderful soul. I first started crying when Peter hugged him and said he was going to miss him, then when we got to Pearl, there was no holding it in, my husband looked over and said “what’s wrong, what happened?” Trying to explain Andrew leaving on his mission…I wish you could have seen the look on his face. Andrew’s special connection to all your family shines through and we know what a difficult transition it will feel in your home. At least you have things to keep busy and minds occupied. Hi from South Africa! Many times I think there is a misconception that we live in the wild and without civilisation. But as one of the most advanced countries in Africa, it truly is a beautiful country. Yes we have some misgivings, but overall we are a bunch of friendly people with normal civilized lives and a pinch of some of the best cultural diversity.

I am in South Carolina, not too far from the Charlotte area. I always make it a point to watch as many videos as I can. Hugs to everyone! I remember when my own grandson Andrew went on his mission. I'm crying right along with you all. My teens are looming closer to this stage of leaving the nest and I'm not ok! I'm dreading not having them here with me 24/7 where I can hug them and talk to them whenever I want. 😢 Parenting is so brutal. These kids make us love them so much and then they leave us. As a mom… Between seeing you guys so upset & you not hearing from him until he got all the way to South Africa (safely, thank goodness), was heart wrenching. I’m so glad that he’s doing well and is happy. That’s such a huge change & adjustment for all of you. Andrew seems very sweet, friendly, & outgoing.
