He terrified me when he played Moriarity. Anything I have seen him play is done with such intelligence and depth.

Yes! It's one of the actors you feel he puts something beyond just the acting. Every time I see one of his performances, I think he "just gets the character", like he understands them in a very real way, so it never feels he's acting on screen (if that ever makes sense).

What he said about the Priest and Fleabag not needing to know each other's backstories to form a genuine connection, or even the audience being able to connect with the Priest without knowing his story either.... blew me away. It's comforting to know that he's aware of the Priest's impact that's not relevant to his hot looks.

I met Andrew at the height of his Sherlock fame, in 2015, at a convention, and he was so so lovely going out of his way to be friendly and down to earth, I am so glad he just keeps reaching bigger and bigger heights.

I wonder how he dealt with the fame in Sherlock, he always struck me as someone who would gladly spend his life doing low key shows or acting in theater away from the spotlights, just for the pure joy of acting.

GQ so real for including Hamlet in this video. I've seen many a Hamlet in my life and there has been nobody who has even come close to the performance that Andrew Scott gave in that role.

Totally agree with this. I really 'got' the meaning of so much of Hamlet for the first time just from the way Andrew spoke the words. It is like he translated them into the modern way of understanding. I really understood the 'to be or not to be' monologue in a way I never had before. He is a truly incredible performer.

I have Pride listed as one of my favourite movies ever and get a lot of flack for that because there's not anything particularly groundbreaking about it. No flashy cinematography, no method actors losing themselves physically and emotionally in a role, no amazing monologues that have millions of views on RU-vid, but, everything is done perfectly. The script is expertly written, the cast acts their parts perfectly, the direction is assured and confident, and each story beat hits where it's supposed to hit. I've seen that film 25x easily, and I'll easily watch it 25 more.

13:45 I once got tapped to play Hamlet in a ragtag production that didn't happen. It did go on long enough for me to actually dig into the character enough to see what I would do instad of how I would imitate. The show never happened and I never played Hamlet, but to this day, I maintain that that brief dabble has impacted the rest of my life. I wholeheartedly agree, no matter who or when you are, give it a go if the only reason not is anxiety.
