My wife gave me one of these last year for my 1911. I've been using it almost every day since, and I love it. It seems to work with every car seat, seatbelt, and clothing situation that I encounter. It's the easy on/off feature that really makes this work. The Carjacker is perfect for sitting or driving, but not really good for much else, so the ability to switch to another holster and back again, when you get in and out of a vehicle is key, and is super easy with this holster. I also pop it off and stash it in the console to pump gas if I'm not wearing a covering garment suitable for standing. It goes on and off that easily. The quality and craftsmanship is top notch, too. It still fits like it did on day one, and I've never even touched the tension adjustment screw. It may seem a little expensive until you see one in person and compare it to other top shelf holsters, then it starts to look like a bargain. :-)
I just read some of the other comments and I see that YankeeCowboy and others find the Carjacker good for walking around, and not just sitting or driving. This is probably true for big guys with small guns, if they say so, but it's not true if your are a slim guy carrying a big gun. Then it sticks out and you'd need a goose down parka to cover it, that's why the fast on and off aspect is important for guys my size...or, for me anyway. :-)
now that im used to mine , no way i would leave the house without it now . simple on/off , stash in a lock box , good to go . mines saved my life , twice .
Does this mean it wouldn’t be good for a guy that is a little more active? I bike ride or walk everywhere. I’m looking for a driving holster but most aren’t snug enough around the belt area and seem like they shift too much. I have a montezuma driving holster right now that digs into my leg when I bike ride.
Thanks for the review, I’m looking for a more comfortable holster myself and I was curious about this one specifically. It’s nice of you to cover the details. Thanks again….
I have many of Sams Holsters he by far makes the best holster I love the McDaniels 2 holster I wear one everyday. I have a car Jacker holster on order.
Appreciate the video. My only concern is how you draw it with the seat belt. It looks like it would be directly under the seat belt. (Though it would probably be far better than having to draw 3 o'clock or appendix carry).
My carjacker came last week! Spent just a couple days breaking it in ! I it works great in the car and I even wore it to the store under a sweatshirt,,,no problem
If this works retention-wise, this could be a big plus for guys with a front porch. Appendix is definitely out for fat guys, but I like the way this rides beneath the gut. This is on my mind having recently thwarted a carjacking just by reaching for my gun. The bad guys understood immediately what it meant when I took my right hand off the steering wheel, and moved it down to my right, while looking at them.
Holster looks amazing and I do a lot of driving, live in California and whit that being said.. how well does it conceal under a regular tshirt or untucked shirt. Thanks
I am a female I don't feel comfortable drawing from the right or left I feel confined. I have a S&W 38 psl 2" barrel airweight. can you help me make a good decision. Thanks Loved your video.
i bought 2 of em myself , because its comfortable and i got tired of punks trying to carjack me . its saved my life several times . the look on their faces when they look down the bore of my stainless ruger birdshead 45 is priceless . their eyes get as big as saucers . but one things for certain , they damn sure back...waaaay off !
a glock 30/460 rowland or a stainless ruger 45 long colt birdshead are almost impossible to ignore . but particularly with a green laser / light in their face , there is no ignoring them . knowing they are milliseconds from getting the hell shot out of em .
@@yankeecowboy yea, but I am in the communistic state of californicate.......I want to Abe able to wear under loose shirts, sweaters and t-shirts....will it be good for that?
@@yankeecowboy thank you for the information.....I did call Sam Andrews this afternoon and asked some questions....His work is top notch....will be ordering
I am an avid Sam Andrews Leather products believer and Customer! I have a Monarch Shoulder Rig for my Glock 19/23 and am about to order same for a 1911 Les Baer Custom Carry and Stinger soon... love his work and he is a "True Gentleman" and Professional to deal with ';-) {Car-Jacker is on my want list, but as a Lefty not sure how effective it will be be?? }
I have a 365 XL in transit to my FFL at the moment and I want to get this holster but I have a question. I have never trusted the trigger style safety so the firearm I’m getting is the model with the ambi thumb safety. In your opinion do you think it might become a problem with this holster. Thanks
Not at all the thumb safety party won’t be close enough to holster to worry, just call Sam and let him know you have a thumb safety version and let him know I sent you!
Looks like the Kant is too horizontal, it should be almost a 45deg angle. Just my thoughts. It does however look very nice and I do like the snap attachment.
That’s how it’s supposed to be, it’s for cross draw when you’re seated. I’m sure if you want 45 Sam can make it for you. Tell you what it’s the only holster I will use now, once you try this you won’t go back to your old style at 3 o’clock
I ordered mine in septembet 2023 and have yet to receive it in january 2024, difficult to be patient with such great reviews. I dont want to harass them with phone calls. How long did you wait for your holsters?
Mr. Yankee Cowboy I have seen your other video on the car jacker with your revolver and was wondering, is it still a great carry for walking all over the place with great retention or is it really designed for traveling in the car or sitting at your desk with limited walking? Thanks sir!
@@yankeecowboy Thanks so much! I am also a larger guy and do not do appendix carry and relate to the hip holster sliding down effect as I am looking for better solution that an oversize T-shirt or summer tropical style shirt might cover up that carjacker....we have been on this 110+ roll here in Las Vegas lately and it is only June. That car jacker then looks like the solution. Be safe and subbed as like your videos.
RE:.....I think it would be fine for all over use, with a long shirt. If one lives in an open carry state, well then open carry it. I intend to use it only in the car, transferring my carry weapon from its normal holster to this unit for the drive only, then transferring back and removing the Carjacker holster. I am not a fan of leaving weapons in cars.
@@gregblackburn4280 Makes sense as it is well suited for that. I agree, I do not like to leave weapons in cars even when well secured. If it was necessary, I would try to pick one that I knew I was comfortable with for EDC accuracy, however was not something that would be difficult if not near impossible to replace as certain firearms are very difficult to find in today's environment (and probably not one of those expensive ones unless you do not mind). I woiuld also be inclined to leave them without ammo as I would not want the potential for them to be used on me.
So, there’s nothing securing the gun in the holster . . . is it a good safe retention that you wouldn’t need to worry about it falling out from gravity or getting hooked on something?
@@yankeecowboy Thanks. I think a better business model might be not to take so many orders they can’t be filled on time. I really want this holster so I will try to be patient.
Does anyone use the carjacker holster with a retention strap? Sam says he makes them. I just want the feedback from someone who uses this in that manner.
In all honesty you really don’t need it. If you know anything about leather holster you know if made right there right right from the start plus you have a retention screw that he uses and I still need to break mine in with wax paper
Question........ LOVE it an want to get one only thing i heard that it was really only to be used in the car an not as a rig for walking around. Can you answer that for me .Thank You.
@@yankeecowboy yes I will try. Can probably figure out how to link something. BUT. FYI. WAS just asking that guy clover tac something about some LOK grips on his beretta 84f (He responded to a question about them almost 3 years ago. I never saw response but decided to get those grips for my surplus 81. Made the gun feel much better in hand & just better all around)last night. & something about that new Chetah released in Vegas 23. Anyhow, you know how YT is being about guns especially lately. . Clover tac or tech guy said he’d missed a question I’d asked a while back because “RU-vid hid it “.?.? I had accident put a period between words & YT thought it was a link..??? DK. What he said..so link to vamp? Maybe.?.the VAMP rides up front too. & is a leather holster I was looking at for a k frame. 66 snubbie. A while back. Holsters are a pain in the rear to find one you will wear. You said it & know it more than most. Looking for holster for a xl too. I like the gun a lot but striker fired guns make me nervous. Trying to get over it & also trying to go iwb. Have you ever had a Massaro American pure breed I believe its called. Kydex with a infinite adjustment Velcro backer, some wire clips that are real low key/almost invisible on belt. Has angle molded into the holster to bring butt in like a claw would..back o Velcro is neoprene & it’s said to stay where you put it and might even hold guns weight and then some. Not pulling pants down is what I’m hearing. Looks like it might be a little bulgy Down the top of slide area from the way it’s designed to bring in the grip. Ugh!lmk pls. $65 bucks or something. Look at holsters till my eyes hurt. You show them on I appreciate that.
I have a ruger sp101 in .327 magnum 6 shot quite a heavy piece.. I like this crossdraw system but my only concern is the revolver might be to heavy to carry like this?? Watcha think Sir?
I don’t think so because it spans the load much better in this cross draw configuration. I have a full size n frame that’s 8 shot and it carries like a dream. Stay tuned for that video coming soon.
How come a Hank Strange RU-vid video from about a year ago shows a higher upward cant and your video shows a horizontal to the belt for the same holster? Is the cant or angle of the holster adjustable?
The butt sits to low for my comfort. I use a Kramer C D. of horse hide ,no snaps ,tension screw but a lot of retention. It has more butt up cant.for extra comfort and speed.
Planned on doing another video before this weekend in between my camera videos lol. I know people don’t want to see that stuff but my channel will be showing a mix of both.
