Android Auto In Any Car! 

Finally. This should have been a standalone app 2 year's ago. It seemed a bit archaic from the beginning as a manufacturer specific head unit.

You can get a kick ass magnetic mount for less than $10 on Amazon. Don't fall for Google rip off price.

Tx Tim for this lucid video. Have been using Android Auto recently in my Elantra and have found it useful. It not only helps me navigate but also let's me listen to my fav music. Unfortunately my 2015 vehicle does not come with in-built AA. So I am using my mobile for that. Ty for explaining the different features. Ciao😊

As far as a mounting device for these phones, I bought one from an electronics store for $20. It's small, but comes with 2 different size magnets to put inside your phone (just put a piece of paper or a business card between the magnet and back of your phone). It works perfectly and I've hit potholes and bumps and god knows what else and the phone has never fallen off. For anybody who lives in the Atlanta area that might be reading this, I'm talking about Micro Center.

I am person who does not like distraction when I'm driving.I remember when signing up for FB and just all the distraction made throw my phone in back of car because you have enough to deal with when trying to make sure everyone is watching what they are doing. I like this but would most likely go with Voice because like I said real life situations would like not to have more issues especially Driving.Loved the in Depth Review.Thanks so much Deb.

You should consider getting a CD slot mount. Doesn't block a vent.

Walmart has a similar vent with magnet holder that's amazing for under $4

vent mounts are like $3 on ebay and you dont have stick crap like than on the back of your $800 phone.

So in my car I should put my cars audio should be on Bluetooth that way I can hear the music and directions through my cars speakers instead of phone?

Everything in this app seems to overcomplicate everything Google already does in maps with voice commands. You can send text, make calls, choose music, have it read incoming text, turn off home appliances through maps. Is there any upside to using Android auto?

FEB 3 2018: I have a question. I recently bought a 2018 Chevy truck with Android Auto feature. I have been using Google Play, through my phone, to be used at work. Now, I am trying to switch over to Amazon Music. Over the past few days, I had created playlists on Amazon, but only a couple playlists showed up through the truck's dashboard. Is there ANY WAY to have playlists that I create on Amazon Music (NOT suggested or pre-made playlists by Amazon) show up on my truck so I can play them? This is all new to me. My last (new) vehicle was purchased in 2001 and lasted until NOV 2017. Thank you, Joe.

If you are using your phone, why not just use your phone? You have much more robust Android on your phone....

Hi Tim (or anyone), I like Android Auto in my Subaru Outback 2015. It does not have that full integration into the in-dash system... but works nicely simply on the phone. Question: While attempting to compose a voice-to-text reply, the app is able to complete my text but then when it asks "Would you like to send it, or edit?" Google or Android gets trapped and cannot understand me. I've tried "Send", "Send it" in a loud voice, and a soft voice. Nothing works and it just eventually says "Sorry". Maybe it's something with my Subaru microphone? Should I try a different text-to-speech engine? The speakers? It's running on the Subi bluetooth. Thank You, Frustrated in Wa St.

And why my google maps/waze does not give me directions to my destination? it only pops up on the original screen, then that's it. it does not read out loud how to get to your direction. Please help. Tim Schofield, When I start to set up the Galaxy S7 Edge's Android Auto app to my Mini Cooper S convertible 2013 (no screen), the phone Google music app sound automatic connect to auto radio system then I try to connect the call (friend called me) I use the phone icon button on the steering wheel to receive a call. The phone call is OK (the music automatic off) then I turn off a call on the steering wheel. I lost music connect the auto audio. I try to attempt to solve this problem but no success. I watched your video, your phone music app and your car audio didn't integrate ?

If you have a recent Mercedes model you can activate CarPlay and Android Auto functionality and use your car built-in screen! I did it in my CLA and worked great. Check the video in my channel.

I freaking hate android auto on my s7 edge .. GUI looks like it's for a small child.. I found myself feeling like things I'm used to doing or using before this took More time .. like texting . I felt I had less control over my device in the way I like to use it while driving..

This is a neat concept but fails in execution. Where is waze? No ability to adjust the size of anything is a huge fail. I have a 10 inch display in my car for navigation and phone interface... I don't need people 2 miles behind me to use my navigation and frankly on a 1920x1080 display its a huge waste of space. App doesn't recognize Pandora is installed. Zero user adjustable settings which is pretty common for Google Apps. Uninstalled. Maybe it'll work one day.
