Hi I just found your channel. Bare with me while I explain myself, Ok I am 55yrs of age and I drove a certain car for 21yrs (I'm conservative lol) it had none of this stuff in it so I didnt know ANYTHING about it. I just purchased a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I'm having to learn everything about these new vehicles. My question is when I hook up the Android auto How do I get FREE music apps on my phone? When I try to listen to music with a command it tells me I must have RU-vid music and I dont want it. I'm just so out of touch with this modern technology that my Jeep will be paid for before I learn how it all works!!! 😂😁😁❤ I do have Spotify but that's it and I want to be able to give a command and say Play Bob Marley Stir it up, etc. Can I do that with Android auto?? LOL
@@SometimeAgo65 yes you can but you need to select Spotify as your default music app as oppose to youtube music. that way when you say the command it uses spotify
interesting info, but video tip; If you are going to be editing videos with effects, try changing the audio from "stereo" to "Mono". Right now, the only sounds that is coming from your description is coming from the left speaker.
@@carsunlocked No prob. I was listening to the video on some noise cancelling headphones, and the offset was pretty noticeable. Good presentation, otherwise. I recently purchased a new car and while looking up things, found this video. It was the first time I've even heard of Android Auto. I appreciate the info!
I hate that Toyota refuses to support Android Auto and their Entunes system isn't as good. Toyota makes you use Scout GPS for navigation. On Toyota's Entune system you can plug your phone in via bluetooth to stream music, texting and make calls as well, but no Google software.
All Toyotas will have Android Auto available in 2020. Seems they finally woke up to the fact that 80% of the world's cellphones use the Android OS. Really difficult to understand this omission coming from a smart company like Toyota.
They've updated how it looks now. Much better than it was. 2 things I have a problem with android auto. 1 when sending a text and mind you this is probably the 4th way its done it. I get a half sec of what is on the radio each time it goes through the cycles of sending a message. The 2nd one is when I connect my phone to my truck whatever was playing the last time (spotify, my music etc.) that automatically starts up again.
No, it needs to stay connected via USB in order to run. Bluetooth works best for streaming audio and video, not for displaying and connecting apps. Once you disconnect the cable, your connection to the car is gone.
I have a 2019 murano and I noticed when I'm running auto I dont get the messages saying I received a texts for it to read it out... i see it pop up on my phone just not on the screen of the car. But if i switch it to BT the messages pop up on the screen (unplugging USB cable). I'm perplexed
my Android Auto keeps losing connection after about 20 minutes, tried different cables but it made no difference, had to unplug cable then plug back in to get it working again, frustrating and my first time with Android Auto.
I read my car manual on connecting Android Auto and it said use a cable to connect the phone nothing happened. 3 years later I am trading the car in and the dealer said connect it with a cable. Nowhere does it say to download the app but thanks to you that may solve the issue
I have a 2013 Nissan Altima and I just installed a android 9.0 radio unit. What do you suggest? Will this work by connecting it to the USB and downloading this app? Do you think this app will communicate with the radio? Any suggestions will be appreciated.
The phone i have (android active 8) used to work just fine with the android auto app but i believe i messed something up in my phones' settings, not through the android auto apps settings only because i have uninstalled / reinstalled the app several times and still does the same exact thing, it only shows up on my phone not my car. Iv used someone else's phone and it works fine,. So what its doing is it looks like the drivers assistance is on the phone also the do not disturb is on and keeps turning back on when i go to turn it off, also in the apps settings its not registering my car, but the bluetooth works just fine. Also in the beginning of the app it doesnt say to put my car into park to begin like it does on the other phone. I do remember one night i was playing on the phones settings and it stopped working after that. I do not want to do a factory reset because i always end up loosing something on here but that is the only thing i can think of to get it working, hopefully you or someone on here can tell me how to get this thing to work
Well I have a 2019 Nissan Sentra SR that supposedly has Android Auto and Apple Car Play, but when I plug the usb from the phone into the car, Andoid Auto does not start on my phone automatically. I have a Galaxy Note 10+, a good 2020 phone. I was hoping to watch your video to figure out how to do it, but immediately the first step doesn't work as you describe. :(

Have the app setup on my phone and have it connected by the USB cable. It won't come up on my unit. I've a 2016 honda civic. Any advise for me I really need this in my car.
I think it would be really important to speak about which Android phones are/are not compatible with the car's display. I have downloaded the app on my android phone and am able to access Android Auto on my phone, but it will not connect to the car's display. That may be because I do not have the required operating system on my phone. This needs to be addressed with people making these videos because it seems to easy here, but it's not.
Great video! Anyways I just bought a 2016 Ford Edge and the sales guy told me about this app if I wanted to use it. However, the vehicle came with a navigation system already install and to update it all I have to do is connect it to my WI-Fi at home. Also, once it's connected with Bluetooth it already download my phone contacts as well as recent calls. I only listen to Pandora and when I go to apps, it shows on the screen but when I touch it it disappears. It plays Pandora automatically once it connects with my phone Not sure why it only sees that app. With that said, I'm not sure if using this app will make a big difference in my life.
5:28 - don't you love how the media player in android audio doesn't have a goddamned seek bar? BASIC crap we don't even have in 2019. Who programs this crap? Certainly not music listeners or humans.
When using google maps via Android Auto should the radio be muted. or should it only mute when navigation is talking? if this the case what setting changes are required to make this happen?

I have a 2015 Nissan Murano apparently it's not compatible with my car because you said as soon as you plug it off it should come automatically on your car screen it doesn't pop up on my screen at all so disappointed
I'm running into this weird phenomenon where if my phone screen is locked while Android auto is running... my car screen will tell me Google maps needs me to change my location settings. The second I unlock my screen on my phone, the notification on my car screen goes away. Does that mean I need to keep my screen unlocked?
I just bought a new SUV, it has android auto icon but not highlighted. I downloaded the android auto app on my phone and my phone operates on Android 13 system. I plugged my phone into the USB of the car and the android auto icon in the car does not get highlighted and even in the phone. My question is that does the dealer needs to activate or switch on the android auto in the car.
Can you have Sirius music on while Google maps is up on your screen? I can't seem to get any music while nav is on through Android auto. Any suggestions?

@@MaaartyMcFly ok Android auto is part of the software as the units can very. And you can't use Android auto with out a phone. If you want one that has navigating without using the phone you need to get something with navigation built in
I have a unique problem that two Chevrolet dealerships can't seem to resolve. Four visits and one radio replacement in my 2019 Chevy camaro. Dealership is saying everything is working as it should on my infotainment 3 system 8 inch screen . With Bluetooth yes, phone works, Pandora, you tube music and so on but when I connect with the USB cord absolutely no media sound. Now, with the cord still plug in I will switch to Bluetooth and start playing music from you tube then back to Sirius XM and media sound returns but not a full volume. If I go to use voice to text then end it again no media sound. I feel like a dog chasing its tail with no results.
I just bought a new Subaru Forester. Yesterday I downloaded Android Auto, after already pairing my phone & car. It had all my owned Google play music within the music in the car (radio, Sirius, etc). After I installed the AA (with my cable connected) all my google play music was gone, so I uninstalled the app. I want to use it so I can utilize google maps on my car lcd screen, but how do I keep my google play music? The only way I can play my own music is to use my phone and select what I want to hear, and it does come through my car radio system, but that's cumbersome! Any suggestions? Thanks for the video!
I have noticed my volume fluctuates. It switches from audio to voice on it's own while listening to the radio or playing my music. How can I solve the problem?

I would like to open Waze instead of Google map.[19 Challenger]. All is well, Waze on the phone gives me a message to click for it on the car screen but it is nowhere to be found. I am missing a step somewhere! Waze is now set up [07/2020] for Android Car Play. Thanks...
@@carsunlocked ha!ha!ha! How do you know? RDForum? Probably... Great Forum, great People... Unfortunately Waze has a bug right now not displaying the map. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Will see if that is going to help. I read somewhere it does... Right now listening to Vortex, his 3 videos on JBV1... the complex and yet easy free app which gets along well with V1G2. Thanks!
Unless you have a very old phone, overcharging shouldn't be an issue. Modern phones don't actually continue to charge at 100% it just automatically tops itself up every 5 minutes or so as you use it.
Where do you see all the Apps that you can use, like messages, WhatsApp, Waze etc? I'm just after switching from Apple, this seems to suck bad for me compared to CarPlay 🤔
Any recommendations on how to get my Note 9 to pair with my car radio. My Samsung Galaxy 8s worked perfectly, but when I upgraded to the Note 9, I can't get Android Auto to work with it. Any suggestions.
Any ideas on my prob? Everything used to work fine. Then when i plugged the phone in, the icon appeared and instantly dissapeared. I had made no changes at all. Then i tried to update the app, change cable, use another phone. Nothing...then when i tried a new phone with Android 10 it worked :(
I have a toyota aygo and a samsung note 9 when im trying to connect it, ive downloaded Samsung auto and allowed everything and have plugged my wire in. But my screen says that for connection its using MirrorLink which ive heard no longer works and so even when i plug my phone in with the cable samsung auto doesnt show up. Any help would be appreciated
Can you listen to music on an AA supported music app and use Google Maps/Waze at the same time, or will it stop the music if you switch to a different app?
I've been using Android Auto for over a year. It doesn't work. More precisely, it works about 50% of the time. I went through all the troubleshooting: Cleaning the apps, restarting, trying different cables, restarting the car... It just doesn't work. I also scanned to web for an alternative app and found nothing ("google driving mode" does not work on my phone... but somehow I doubt that it actually works). Yesterday I broke down and ordered a mount for the car. The big screen in the middle of my CRV dashboard is just going to be a useless ornament. I have only one remaining question: Is it just me? Or does this app not work for anybody? Some users? Few Users? How is it possible that there is no reasonable alternative to this? Thanks.
I can't get Android Auto to connect with the Note 9. It connects as soon as I plug in the USB but then automatically says phone not responding. I have tried everything I know to do. Any advice? Thank you
We use Facebook Messenger arround here for messaging.... but my Android Auto will only send via SMS... it actually tells me that it can't send using Facebook Messenger
