To be clear about Vincent .. he is roughly speaking and an amalgamation of the five Corleone family men .. he got Vito's cunning, Michael's ruthlessness, Fredo's sensitivity, Sonny's fiery temper and Tom's absolute loyalty. What a great Don you would be in future if you know how to manage it.
GF 4 was going to show the decline of the Corleone Family with Vincent getting involved with drugs and running the Family into the ground. It was going to contrast Sonny’s/Corleones’ rise with Vincent’s fall.
the thing with godfather four is originally they (Francis Ford Coppola and Mario Puzo) were going to do it and they actually had a first draft all written up but as the story goes Puzo hated it so they decided to take a break and come back to it later but while they were taking their break Puzo died and Coppola stated that to continue the Godfather story without Puzo felt wrong since Puzo was the one who actually wrote the book and the screenplay's
Whoever asked the question wondering which character Andy would play clearly forgot that Vincent was named Don Corleone at the end of Godfather. Andy was right - he'd be "The Godfather." Great actor and has aged well.
If they make a Godfather 4, it would feel more like a reboot. Because all the Godfather movies have been about Micheal, so now when he is dead, the story would be about someone else. I don't think a Godfather 4 is needed.
+TheRicksay I disagree...the movies have been about the Corleone family, not about Michael specifically...and with that as the underlying theme, Godfather IV could work...
+rocksvids08 You're right. The fact that Michael is no longer alive doesn't preclude the possibility of another Godfather movie, but I would rather they not do it. There isn't anybody left who is as compelling as Michael. Andy Garcia's character isn't even close. I'm one of those people who feels the third one was good on its own but paled in comparison to one and two. The third one was good enough that it didn't soil the legacy of the Godfather Saga. Just the idea of a fourth installment that taints the legacy of the Godfather Saga is reason enough to not do it. You have to learn to leave well enough alone, and Francis Coppola knows that.
+Daniel Zanier Yeah, well sequels are always a risk...VERY rarely does a sequel do the first installment justice...Godfather II, Terminator 2, and Lord of the Rings are only ones that come to mind that have ever pulled it off...I'm sure there are a handful of others, but that's what comes to my mind right away...
+TheRicksay I think the Godfather 4 should move on with Sonny's son. And with backflashes back to when Sonny was a kid. Just a 3, maybe 4 hours movie that defines the full history.
rocksvid08, the films were more about Michael than the family itself. Yeah, the family played a big part in the story, but Michael was always the central focus. The first film was mostly about how Michael's destiny was to take over the family, how he went from a goody-good kid who served his country to ultimately the newer generation don. The second film had even less focus on the family, and it was now an attempt to show the newer generation trying to not only become legitimate, but amass power equivalent to that of politicians. And the third showcases that Michael has achieved that status but has also lost his family as a result and is at a downhill slope, finally ending with his death in isolation.
I read the family corleone, it looks like it picks up from the events left off in the prequel within the godfather part 2 (the corleone kids are much older now and tells how james caan's character of sonny found Robert Duvall's character of Tom Hagen)
@@williamrocca5333 Apparently Puzo was considering a stricture similar to G II with Di Niro playing a middle aged Vito and Leonardo DiCaprio playing a young Sonny in the 30s segments with Garcia and Shire playing the 1980 segments. It would have contrasted the 1930s heyday of the mob with the decline of the 1980s. With Puzo’s death Coppola lost heart to produce the movie and so it was turned into the Eddie Falco novel.
Iloved Andy Garcia in the Godfather he was the best thing about Godfather 3. He looked more Italian then Cuban, he came of a a great Italian. Love to see Godfather 4 with Andy Garcia. Loved him in When A Man Loves A woman with Meg Ryan he was wondeful
Andy was also an Italian in "The Untouchables". Not an Italian-American but an Italian immigrant ("Giuseppe Patri", although he had changed his name to "George Stone").
You mean the scene where Sean Connery ("Jimmy") looks at Andy ("George") and says "What's your name? I mean, what's your REAL name?" And Andy swallows hard, looks at "Jimmy" like he wants to kill him, and says "Giuseppe Patri". Yeah, Italians in those days, in America, were treated pretty bad for a while.
@@Hritik9000 Bale is several inches taller than Pacino, I know you're joking though. But if they did a Godfather IV with flashbacks I don't think that Michael would be that big of a part. This would be in an era before Michael was in the crime side of the family and he would've likely been a teenager also.
@@joemckim1183 I ain't joking, Christian Bale is the best actor of today's generation he could play any role the only problem is his hieght and camera movement can solve that issue.
Al Pacino could still be in it. At the end of Godfather 3, Michael dies looking ridiculously old. The film could be written during a time between the opera and present day, allowing Michael to still be in the film as a sort of mentor to the current Godfather Vincenzo Corleone. I would love to see this.

They completely ruined number 3 with seriously bad miscasting. The only way to save the Godfather brand is by setting it the eighties Michael is still alive at this point and reeling from the loss of his daughter, he goes into complete psycho mode wiping out everybody in his path with the aid of Vincent. We will get more of an outlook on the mafia as a whole and Michael gets sent to jail by the end of it. He’s so old when he dies in 3 we can presume that’s in the 2000s. Pacino is at the right age to play the role as he is basically the same age as his character in 1990. Coppola would need to stay the heck away from the movie 🎥 and give it to Scorsese, or a real real wild card Tarrantino! Now that could be epic with the heavy dialogue and violence and Tarrantino knows how to finish a movie 🍿

I think that once Michael gave up power to Vincent and with the loss of Mary that he probably was no longer involved with the family business. Honestly I bet that Michael just stayed in Sicily after that and never returned to America.
Brilliant! I feel Part III should have starred Garcia, with Pacino as the supporting role, with the film centering around the young, rising Vincent's inability to legitimize his own life and affairs, Michael attempting to redeem his own soul, while fighting to prevent Vincent from going down the wrong path, ultimately leading to failure, when Mary is killed, devastating the entire family. Part IV could be the story of how the aged Vincent tries to redeem his own soul, through the Church and through managing a legitimate Corleone family business, and Michael (and/or Connie) as Vincent's consigliare. Maybe, Pacino would just be a brief cameo, with the film BEGINNING with his death, and the rest of the film follows Vincent, with past enemies, who waited for Michael's death, to take their revenge on Vincent? The possibilities...
The sound track was phenomenal.Andy looks great to contunie the family story...guess we shall see if there will be a 4th. I did watch Godfather 3 again recently. Great films! Loved the interview! Thank you...
There was a street musician in Bulgaria than was playing the Godfather theme music. By some incredible chance Andy Garcia was in that country at that place at that time and he stopped to listen to the guy play and had some fun with him. After that he took pictures with him and gave him lots of money. It was only after that when his translator told the musician who he actually was. It was a great story that made the news in my country.
Oh god i would LOVE to see another Godfather Movie and its a great chance since Andy Garcia is still alive .. But at the same time the 3 parts of the Godfather was antique and i don't believe someone else will do such work we only have silly actors nowadays not fir for a Mafia type movies besides De Niro and Al Pacino and Joe Pesci and couple more.
whoever suggested Johnny depp needs to go sit tf down somewhere lol. No but frfr watch A Most Violent Year and you'll see Osar Issac is PERFECT for a Godfather movie!
WHATS CRAZY I remember there was talk about GODFATHER 4 in the 90s and Jerry Rivera the salsa singer was gonna be in it! I would have liked to see him in that. He's my favortite salsa singer ever! i love andy too! cant wait to see him in season 3 of Ballers this summer!
Miguel Disla Nahh believe me I also grow up with Jerry Rivera and I love his music. But thank God Godftather 4 with Jerry Rivera did'nt happen!
Welton de Anhaia what if it doesn't..u never knw what cud happen. If they put in the time and effort with the right actors then it cud also elevate the trilogy.

That’s funny since Leo is ethnically Italian whereas Garcia is not. Either way, I think the third film was bad enough, so I can’t begin to imagine how bad a fourth one would be.
Godfather 3 got bad reviews because it was being compared to the first 2. If it was just another gangster movie, it would have been considered an okay movie. And the idea of connie in godfather 3 giving orders was a little ridiculous. Andy is a good actor though. I have no problem watching any movie he makes. I would like to see him being
The reason it got bad reviews is because some greater power didn’t like it. The movie exposed many thinks about the Catholic Church and the Vatican. If you really try to see the deeper meaning in the film you’ll realise that it is a masterpiece.

I'm happy that Godfather Part 4 did not happen. The Godfather Trilogy, whether you like the 3rd film or not, at least felt like a beginning, middle and end. It started with Michael's journey and ended with him. Everything and everyone else was just there to help that story-arc along. When Vincent takes over, we know how things are going to go because we realize its a cycle that will repeat itself, like history.
I think a godfather 4 is definitely the wrong way to go (no disrespect to Andy who was the only good thing to come out of godfather 3) I think a tv series would be the way to go picking up where Vito's story arc ends in godfather 2 after Michael is born and the beginning of Vito's rise to power/prohibition/Hyman Roth/the 3 brothers,im sure it would be a must see series if they got the right cast and crew, anyone agree?
After watching carlitos way and devils advocate, i always thought keanu reeves could work on a role playing alpachinos son if they went down that road, he could have played the unborn son in part 2 of carlitos way who goes after benny blanco from the bronxs lol, or maybe in god father 4 if they ever make it, maybe Vincents son.
Kinda scary and sad - today in June 2017 as I write this, Al Pacino is 77 years old. (Cent'anni, Mr. Pacino) Michael Corleone died alone in Sicily in 1997, aged... 77. Not alluding to anything about Pacino, may God bless him. Just saying, however interesting of a character Michael Corleone was... today we ought to definitively say that there ought not be any more Godfather movies, even though they likely never would have told another part of the Michael Corleone story. But the entire story of Michael Corleone has been told, the man who played him has lived all of Michael's life. It's sad but true.
Larry King would cheerfully interrupt Moses up on the mountain talking about commandments, and he'd explain it by saying, "I gotta keep the show moving."
B. Frost I never understood the hype around Larry King. Maybe I am too young and haven’t watched his old stuff but the couple of interviews I have seen of his show don’t impress me at all. He seems so uninterested every time, like he wants to wrap it up fastly and get it over with. This is so obvious that it makes it irritating.
I love Godfather III. One of the most underrated films of all time. Don't get the derision for it. Its finally the film where Al Pacino gets to shine in the role. In the Godfather he had Marlon Brando, James Caan and Robert Duvall to act against, in Part II it was Robert DeNiro, but in part III he was the undoubted standout, not even Andy Garcia could hold a torch to his performance although his job was made a little easier by Sofia Coppola who was fucking horrible. Goddamn nepotism.
Liam Redmond That's what did it. She of course was just one character but even when I watched it for the first time as a kid I could tell that she was freakin horrible. I liked it but it's little things like that that could mess up a whole trilogy.
Personally, I LOVED the first two "Godfather" films. They were, and still are, great cinematic classics of all time. As for "Godfather, Part III," it was a mix of both good and bad. I think that some of the negative criticism was warranted in spite of the 7 Oscar nominations that "Part III" earned. As for a "Godfather, Part IV," I don't think it will happen because legendary filmmaker, Francis Ford Coppola, simply wanted to move on in pursuing other interests in his career.
@@carlosmedina-CharlieMopic But what other director would you even trust making a Godfather movie? Scorsese is the only other director that I can think of.
He's like the Rodimus Prime of The Godfather. If you don't know what I mean, The Transformers starts with Optimus Prime as the leader, but his predecessor--Sentinel Prime or Alpha Trion, depending on whether you followed the comic or cartoon--was a legend. After Optimus, the leadership ultimately passes to a reckless young Autobot called Hot Rod, who later earns the title of Prime. When Rodimus Prime was first introduced, people had mixed feelings, but he's an essential part of Transformers legacy. That's what I think of Vincent Corleone. I'd love a Godfather Part IV.
They should do The Godfather 4 in honor of puzo they should look at his script then look to his book of the family Corleone just to get a little bit more of what puzo would’ve wanted in the movie
I can see Andy Garcia as Don Vito Corleone. Al Pacino as Don Barzini. James Caan as Don Cunio. Robert Duvall as Don Stracci and Robert De Nero as Don Tattaglia
Vincent Corleone in godfather 4 would look and act just like "terry benedict" in Ocean´s Eleven series. watch those pictures and you´d get a glimpse. I encourage Ford coppola to write a 4th part and shoot it. It would be extremely challenging but profitable as well.
saad afzal it’s not really good to see what happens to characters after the end of a trilogy especially when the original film was made 46 years ago. One exact example of this going wrong is the Star Wars sequel trilogy.
Four year ago, it had a slim chance of happening. Now, Vincent would almost certainly have to become Vencentia and she would most certainly have to be anything but Western European, because we all know that anything remotely Caucasian just isn't part of Hollywood acceptability any more.
Ive always wondered what a Godfather IV would be like... Would it be about Vincent not taking Michael's warning and declines into darkness? What price would Vincent pay? Would be finally do what Michael couldn't which to get out before it was too late?

The last minute of Part 3 made it obvious there was no need to. And it was the ONLY part of the series set in the future! All the rest of the series set between 1901 and 1979.
I've read the prequel The Family Corleone by Ed Falco. And it's written very much in the Puzo style. So instead of a Godfather IV, I would suggest a couple prequels. The Family Corleone was an excellent read and would make a good movie if done right.
