Words will always be Barry's song. When I first saw this video, over a year ago, I knew it said Andy but the slight beard so enhanced the physical similarities between him and Barry. I had to keep taking double takes. Barry called Andy his twin separated by 12 years. 😃 At times he sounds like Barry but this performance is defiantly Andy's sound. Words is such a powerful song that the audience silence you mentioned is what it does to my inner being; silences the inner turmoil, calms the chaos. Bee Gees' music does that.
Barry's right, Chad. Andy was indeed his twin despite their age difference. His looks, especially with a beard, and that beautiful hair just like Barry's. Gosh, Barry even said they had the same birthmarks. I really enjoyed this very heartfelt and moving performance by sweet Andy. Great reaction, Chad.
I have always thought Andy was a perfect blend of Barry and Robin. At times he has the look of both. He has Barry's tone with Robin's vibrato voice. Another exceptional Gibb brother as they all were.
It's a shame he didn't live long enough to become a Bee Gee. His brothers had decided it was time for him to join the brothers Gibb, but fate had other plans😔 Words was always Barry's song, Mo would play the piano but Robin would always leave the stage to Barry. I'm sure Barry was proud that his brother did such a beautiful job with it
Thanks for always including Andy. Great performance, loved Andy😍😍 "Bandy" Barry's twin🤗. The Gibb Brothers didn't need music to sound good their voices were spectacular
Oh Goodness he sounds and looks so much like big brother Barry!! Barry has said that Andy and he were like twins born years apart. He does the family proud with this performance. ❤️😎. Love the way you love the Gibb Brothers. Your appreciation/reaction is always uplifting! Thanks,Chad!
Andy was blessed with another wonderful Gibb voice and this was beautiful. He was his own person, but looking back with decades of hindsight, I wonder why he chose Barry's signature song for this performance. Maybe it was as simple as how it fit the occasion. He certainly did a remarkable job.
I'm glad you decided to do this one...Barry said he and Andy even had the same birth mark ❤ The Gibb parents had some amazing children together... Imagine if Andy had lived on with Barry... All the Bee Gees are amazing and none better than The Bee Gees.💞
WoW Chad,. Im going to be honest here and admit I never really rated Andy Gibb, I felt his songs were targeted at a teenage market, he never looked more than a teenager himself. It's crazy thinking on my part because we were born in the same year!!! This, however has blown me away. The talent of these BeeGee boys never ceases to amaze me:. When I saw what you were reacting to my first thought was: " Not Andy Gibb and not Words"( one of my least favourite BeeGee songs,) but then I thought give it a chance. Like you I was mezmerised: A) at his impeccable control of the song, B) At how much he looked and sounded like Barry and C) How sad it was that he disliked himself so much that he felt there was only one way out 😢 This was just beautiful, I get what you say about it being a reaction channel Chad, but don't you see, not knowing how to react to perfection, is a reaction....Sometimes there are no words! Thank you for introducing me to the very grown up Andy Gibb. 🎤👍
Yes…this is a good one. Andy did an outstanding job singing this song. He does look like Barry here. And as always with before auto tune, singing live in front of a distinguished audience at the age of 23 was probably daunting not to mention singing a very successful song that your older brother was known for. Great choice not interrupting, Chad. No worries the majority stick around to hear your reactions. Just a side note: The Bee Gees or Barry Gibb himself are WAY OVERDUE to be be honored by the distinguished Presidential award called the “Kennedy Center Honors.” Hopefully the “powers that be” won’t wait until Sir Barry is no longer with us.
I swear if you did not announce that it was Andy Gibb .I swear i thought it was Barry .if I did not see Andy himself singing .It sounded so much like his Brother Barry Gibb. These two look so much alike too. They are like the second set of twins. They all are so talented. They are Simply The Best Singers & Song Writer's there is. I love The Bee Gee's .
Barry's "mini-me", with Robin's Vibrato, and Mo's playfulness, who had just gotten his pilot's license a few months prior to his death and might not have even stayed in music had he lived... 😪
I wonder if it would have changed anything if he had not felt so compelled to live up to his brothers' magnificence. He had gifts and talent all his own, but he might have thrived on a different path. I guess too many "what ifs" don't help anything. I think I need to get out of the house and get a little sunshine.
I actually thought it was Barry on the thumbnail. Stunning performance. Another heartfelt performance and a must is, The Bee Gees, Our love (Don't throw it all away), live in Las Vegas, 1997, One night Only. Please and thank you
Sometimes, the reaction to a music clip simply has to wait - after the last vocal has faded out into thin air, or the last note has been played... and that's that. It's remarkable, how much Andy resembled his older "twin brother" Sir Barry, in this performance. At the tender age of 23, Andy's mane of hair, beard and voice (that also had a few sprinkles of Robin's and Maurice's vocals in it...) was a carbon copy of the oldest Gibb brother - even though Sir Barry looked completely different at that same age. To think this talented baby brother would leave us just seven years later, is beyond sad. Always a pleasure to watch Your honest and sincere reactions, Chad - and THANK You for this weekend's Bee Gees Marathon, my Friend!💕
"Desire" is the only recording to have all four brothers on it, although they didn't all sing it at the same time. if you want to check that out. B, R, & M had recorded it about 18 months before Barry gave it to Andy, and put Andy's vocal on it. It's kind of sad, though, because Andy was so tripped out on drugs that Barry had a really hard time getting Andy to record good vocals. What you hear on the record is sometimes Barry's vocal blended with Andy's.
The first time I saw this performance on RU-vid I just gasped. He looked so much like Barry singing. It was awesome. I just wish back then while he was at this age that he could have become a Beegee. I am so glad you reviewed this.
IMHO: Barry. I am really, really trying to give Andy all the credit for this performance, but that beard nails the uncanny resemblance, and that slow-paced style recalls Barry's Spirits '79 version.
That's interesting. I've heard a couple of other ideas: it was penned by Barry for Linda. She was very unsure to get involved with Barry because of his reputation. It was penned for Robert Stigwood because thay had a falling out. It doesn't matter why it was penned, I'm just glad it was. It's my favorite - ok my favorite rotates, at the moment it is Words.
@@katie-didellis2437 it was written for Cliff, but Cliff’s management rejected it,without Cliff knowing. And as he said, himself,he wasn’t very happy about it.
@@eh-i1841 your right. I heard Barry say that once. They couldn't reach him. It has become Barry's signature song just like I Started A Joke is Robin's.
Andy was just AWESOME with this song!!! He sounded so much like Barry singing this song. "Words" can't express...thanks for sharing this great performance!!!
It's incredible how much Andy looks like Barry with his beard. It's incredible how simular Andy and Barry's voices are. How very sad and heartbreaking it is that Andy was taken so young from use. What great talent Andy was. Thank you Chad for featuring this song i sincerely appreciate it.
Amazing...Been a fan over Andy forever, he could have been so much bigger if it wasnt for the drugs and Victoria Principal!!...Forever loved and missed...x
Wow , thanks a million! What a touching rendition coming deeply from his heart. Huge to discover it. Physically and vocally Andy was never been this close to Barry. Definitively, this is my favourite rendition of this song. Andy is a goat!
My second comment on here…Elvis also sang “Words” at his concerts. He had the song added to his set list because he loved it. Also, Elvis loved Barry’s voice. He said so in an interview. He practiced this song and had fun with it being silly on a RU-vid video fyi
Great reactions! Andy always gave off a really sweet vibe of vulnerability. I see Robin in his features, not Barry at all. Andy would have made a fantastic comeback, just like his brothers, his last songs are very good
yes, a lot of Robin and some Barry, looks and vocals. and some Mo in the performance confidence, as Andy and Mo could move and dance on stage, whilst Barry and Rob not really
Hi Chad.. I'm glad you made a reaction on this..I've been wishing that you will take notice of Andy's rendition of Words and you did! Thank you..I was in awe too..this is from Philippines Dec 2021
What a beautiful performance. Your reaction was great - who could have wanted to interrupt it? It was as you say CAPTIVATING! Thanks for reacting to it. New sub.
Chad, I'm going g to comment here as s trained singer. In my own opinion, Andy is not using a falsetto here, just as Barry did not. He had a voice that extended well into the higher ranges naturally, and that combined with a characteristic breathiness, is what leant his singing that peculiar quality. The falsetto is there, to be sure, in other songs, but not this one.
Thank you Chad for another great reaction! What a performance, Andy totally nailed it. Was he singing to Victoria? Is that why she introduced him? We're they really meant to be? These are questions we may never know the answers to.
I challenge you to go and find a copy of this song where Barry Gibb is singing it solo and tell me that Andy and Barry's voice aren't very similar singing this song it's amazing how close the two voices are they're a little bit different and they both got their own thing but singing this song you can really see how they've got a unique closeness of their voices at least in this song.
🙀🤭Mr. Andy Gibb.... He is soo good, such a beautiful voice, such a beautiful person inside & out, gone too soon, we got robbed of this beautiful voice! Sorry Lord, I know your will be done but we missed out on more of his beautiful singing. I think Andy was even better than Barry but he did not have the confidence in himself that his Brothers had maybe because he started all by himself when he was young, they had each other. Don’t think he ever realized just how loved he was. 😢😪💔
When Andy wear suit and long hair he looks like Barry Otherwise he looks like his dad. Barry’s voice is more soft and delicate when he sings “word” However Andy’s is also a great talented singer as well
Must say, so I saw Barry threetimes singing that song in concerts ( Munich, 1969/1989/1992) and once in 2004, Robin singing it on his Magnet-tour, also in Munich. Here in that particular performance, Andy isn't able, to compare. Well, he's close to Barry's voice, but on a few passages, he overdoes it at all. Needless to say, it's just Barry's signature song, so he's the winner. Robin, with his unique voice, sounded lil strange on that song, but he made a brilliant performance. Also when he sang 'To Love Somebody'. But I couldn't understand, why songs like 'Night Fever', 'Staying Alive' and 'Tragedy' where on his songlist so he wasn't able to match them.
Exactly Chad! Who cares about VOP! She makes me ill to this day! It was SO obvious! I've loved Andy since I was 10! I'm 54 now, he would be 64! He and the Bee Gees are my ALL time fav! No one could ever compare to the 4 of these men!! My own opinion
