Guitar virtuoso Andy James plays his song "Flight of Icarus" Check out Andy's heavy metal band- www.myspace.com/sacredmotherto... My guitar TAB of this song- tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/m/mis...
I like how he's managed to fuse both modern techniques and that old school feeling in his playing. One of the best things to happen to guitar, this guy.
He doesnt compose these songs are 30yrs old. The same song as vai satriani and andy timmons. It has a million names. Every song is the same. Just different speed. He wrote none of it.
This song is so awesome that I really think about Icarus everytime I hear it, and imagine how his traveling would have been if he had and iPod. Anyway, he would be proud of Andy!
Just discovered this guy. A friend at work was telling about his yesterdayt. Very good player with cool original angular lines. I usually hate tapping but has a unique approach to it!
if you can't play it, become better until you can, it's just hard work but at least most people can do it with enough determination. i play for two years now and i can't play this yet, but i'll keep on improving myself til i can. it'll probably take some time, but i have time.
When I was young, I practiced everyday with a metronome trying to break the speed barrier. I just couldn't alternate pick really fast. By my late 20's, I realized that I would never be a shredder like all my heroes. Instead of trying to emulate them, I applied the things that I DID really well and found other ways to play fast. For instance, using more legato, mixing up note groupings across scales and altering my picking hand in certain ways. By doing so, I created my own style. My point is, that eventually in your music career you have to stop trying to play like others and be yourself. Though I don't listen to this stuff anymore, I can appreciate Andy's talent and love the way he rips it... so aggressive, but at the same time I feel I may even have some qualities that he may not. We all have them, it's just a matter of when we discover them
MrRupsiee If you've played for two years it's not a probem to can't play his songs ^^ I've been playing for 3 years and i can play angel of darkness, but i caught a tendinitis cause i played about 3 hours per day... it's up to you :)
kickthechair35 hmm, that doesn't sound too healthy, but i don't play as much on average. i know a guy who also plays a lot every day and he's often seen with bandages on his fingers because he's been practicing too much.
Man! i saw a couple videos of you and I'm already your fan!! This solo is fucking badass!!! I really hope to be as good as you in some years. You ,Sir , are AWESOME!!!! keep rocking !!!!!!!
I saw a quantum leap in my playing when I quit smoking, started eating better and promoted healthy blood flow. Practice and decent equipment are only two points of a triangle. Wish I took that more seriously early on because this guy still inspires me!
@bnino1216 The wristband doesn't do anything. It removes excess noise, but it also makes the guitar strings a lot more rigid, hard to play, AND hard to bend. Andy is a great guitarist, the hairband doesn't mean a thing or affect his playing skills or sound in virtually any way.
never give up.here's a tip...whenever you try learning a new song,be it blues,or rock or metal etc, always tackle the hardest parts first and foremost.when you managed to nail those parts and can play them confidently, then, you go for the easier/simpler passages of that song.well, many pros and veteran guitar masters do this, and it really works.that being said, not every guitarist is a fast learner, there are those who are slow learners.so improvement-wise,it varies from player to player.keep on learning, dude!
What an amazing piece .. Madd props on the tab .. Its dead on !! I've been working my way through it and noticed the solo is missing a piece .. Curios if you have the rest of it ???
@tyronegodfreyraman It's not a capo. It's just a hair band (ironic for andy) that is used to limit excess string noise when doing fast passages like sweeping. It also gives your tone a more suppressed clean sound because the strings don't vibrate as much.
i dotn know wich guitar i have to buy i wont one with a floyd rose system and 25 frets or 24 dont know between 500 and 800 euro but i dont know wich one is good i play different stuff heavy like pantera or steve vai.... etc
@ The annotations, is it hard to alternative pick? I've always alternative everything ever sinced I started playing guitar, and am actually quite 'bad' (relative to alternative picking) at down picking. I've always considered alternative picking as 'normal', so is it supposed to be considered somewhat advances normally?
