1995-2013 was the golden era of football more passing brought more explosive plays but defenses were straight killers. Football is a gladiators sport never understood why people can’t understand that, taking violent plays away from the nfl is like telling ufc fighters not to punch too hard or you’ll hurt you’re opponent

Just like politicians, these NFL rules people feel like if they don't tinker with the rules, they aren't doing their job. Also similarly to politicians, real problems that actually need to be fixed get ignored.

So many quality players stood out and won starting roles due to their special teams plays. Shame this is being implemented.

The NFL and NCAA continue to ruin the game with these soft rules. These guys get paid because of entertainment and hazard.

To me the number one rule that needs to change is the “Roughing the passer” rule. You breath wrong on a QB and it’s a flag it’s ridiculous.

In 2004, Dante Hall was a pro bowler for his kick/punt return ability. In 2024, he'd be an unemployed slot WR with no pension. In today's world he's a developmental slot WR for 2 yrs but then cut. In that world he has no NFL pension despite NFL teams wanting his ability for 9-10 seasons just 2 decades ago. Returners lives matters!!!

The league says it’s all about player safety. But we know there are more player injuries from short weeks, certain artificial turf, and kickoffs. Which one does the league go after? The one that doesn’t cost the league or owners a penny. Cuz its all about player safety.

Cannot blame Andy Reid being upset with the new kickoff rule. The game has gotten almost to the point where fans will start turning their backs on the NFL. You may as well put the QB’s as off limits totally to any defensive player. This is part of the reason why QB’s are in the league now for 15-20 years, they’re not hardly touched at all anymore. Getting pretty damn ridiculous I think!

I honestly believe that Pac is the best support guy out there in this genre. He hasn't had to create a crazy character and I would suspect that his q ratings are off the charts. NFL should be hiring guys like him to help them keep it all together.

changing the rules will only make the game worse. because its at its peak there are no changes that can make the game more enjoyable to watch

So many games were decided by punt returns/kickoffs last year and in years past. This is going to WILDLY effect games and how teams prepare IMO. completely with you guys.

NFL is all about the safety. #1 priority. Oh except when they can make money such as TNF, setting up scheduling (I think it is the Lions who have over a months more rest days compared to opponents than the 49ers, how is that looking after safety, allowing WRs, RBs, QBs to use illegal hands to the face without penalty, etc. I get player safety should be a top priority, but some of these rules are ridiculous.

They already had like 90% (exaggerating idk the fking real stat, but watching kickoffs all year was pointless already this year.) touchbacks because they moved the kicker forward. They boot it past the back of the end zone 50% of time. I hope they revert to the kickoffs from 10 years ago.

Yeah, where are the concussion numbers? The NFL put up a pretty strict concussion protocol, we only see QBs go to the blue tent. Are the broadcasters sleeping on the returners going thru protocol? For real? When you're at the stadium, touchbacks on kickoff are so boring.

Someone is going to launch a league with no holds barred. Someone is going to launch a league that's more like the UFC, and it's going to be incredibly popular. Only then will the NFL be forced to compete again. You can't only play defense if there is another team on the field.

If many many fans got together like a Reddit thing and boycott the NFL I bet they would change back to the way it was and believe us we the people have the power … bring back the old game …. Bring back the old game with practice squad players

Football is a high contact sport. Injuries and concussions are going to happen. Imagine taking away head kicks in the UFC or even overhand rights

At this point just get rid of the kickoff and just give it to them on the 25 no reason to waste my time watching them fair catch every time

Soon, they will not even let players touch the ball with their hands and can only kick the ball into an area at the end of the field that they call something like a "goal."

I just disagree. The data is there. Pick your favorite team and go look at their injury reports from last year and you will see more than half the people on the injury report are people who only played special teams. Two other things to keep in mind. First is that there are TV timeouts after punts and kickoffs, so you dont see the guys who are dinged or concussed walking off the field like you saw Tua.. and the second thing is these are not stars, so if they miss a few weeks nobody really notices. But you just need to look at the injury reports.

QB sack hurts players, no more pass rushing. WR crossing routes possible collisions. Lots of injuries on defense, maybe take that out of the game! Just put the offense out there and make it a skill competition

They added another week to the season. They don't care about concussions. They think the special teams is boring because they actually don't like football. They would love if the average score was a combined 100 per game because no one can tackle.

Hear me out....What if the kicking team just squib kicks it, where it skips up to the returner, between the 15 and 10 yard line, and the coverage team runs down and makes the tackle before the 20 at most and save a few yards. Also potential for a fumble too or mishandle on bounce up off skip.

It's stupid. They can deffo make punts and kickoffs safer, without taking away the signifcance and excitment of the plays. Just look at how the XFL does kickoffs.

I quit watching NFL football about 6-7 years ago when I saw Tom Brady on the Patriots catch a literal thumb swipe to the helmet from a pass rusher and they called 15 yards for roughing the passer. Literally the only contact between Brady and the defender was his thumb brushing against Brady's helmet...15 yards...automatic first down...I highly doubt Brady even felt it...I understand and am all for player safety, but at this point, just put flags on their hips and call it a day.

The answer isn't to make the game 'safer'. Andy Reid is right, it's going too far. The 'safe' thing to do would be to not play sports at all! We don't consume football because we enjoy watching 'safe' humans running around in uniforms. I can do that at the park near my house... minus the uniforms 😅. Change it back! And move the kickoff line back 5 yards again.
