I have two of those kits, one molded in white and one in blue. I'm going to make one up as a White Castle sponsored car. Great stuff Luka! Thank You for sharing!
I hope some of the companies commissioning reproductions of older kits will bring back more road racers like this, instead of just sticking to dragsters and stock cars (short track and non-NASCAR stock cars excepted).
I never had that kit, but I certainly remember seeing it on the shelves and always wanted one. Lol. Great memories. IMSA back in the day was so wild. Like in the 70s when it was referred to as the “International Marijuana Smuggling Association.”
The MPC Celica Supra kit and the Daytona Charger kits also had IMSA style panels. Were they trying to cash in on the Monroe Handler Mustang model car kit?
I too have that Craig Carter Camaro kit, found it at OldModelKits.com at a fair price but I didn't know it was not *that* accurate to the real race car. I do know AMT gives you the option to just make up your own racing team too and I might go that route but I also love that color scheme of dark blue over orangish-yellow as well. How funny would it be if someone were to build and paint that kit right out of the box as Craig Carter's car and take it to an IPMS or NNL contest and see if it even places?! What would the judges and long time car modelers say to that? 🤨😏
I have this kit I was just wondering if you have any suggestions on what to do with a flared wheel wells to make it more correct. Is there any other Camaro out there with the correct flares for this kit. I would use NASCAR tires and I would probably use the 70 GTO super stocker chassis and engine. what do you think
I’m sorry, but “I like the box art” is the problem with this hobby. Too many buy the kits because of the boxes and then the manufacturers think that’s what builders want. That era of AMT was directed to 10 year olds who didn’t know better.
