I couldn’t tell you how many times back in the Berklee jam sessions. We’d play something like “Softly”, a Charlie Parker blues and David Sanborn “FIRE”!! Like Everytime!! Always the 3rd song!

imho, the airstream should be exhaled, not blown. like without the horn in your mouth, you're exhaling, as if to make the sound "haw" while you do it. your lips aren't even in the equation, nothing is "blown", it's pure exhale, diaphragm driven. you've got this!

One of the first people i direct people to if they want to hear a really good saxophone player play in a ‘Popular” style not like many posers.is Everette. I always remember to tell them what he said in an interview that when he and his friends were practicing and learning it was never to be “good enough” but to be the best they could be. I always heard that in his playing. Im a straight ahead lover who plays some commercial gigs but i love people like these two guys and Brandon Fields and others who really learned to play. ‘
