You know why we watch the reruns? Because we know for a fact that we are going to enjoy it all over again, that for 30 minutes we will be in Mayberry and that for 30 minutes the bills don't matter, the job doesn't matter, the pain in your knee doesn't matter, the snow doesn't matter....nothing matters. We have escaped to Mayberry and all we really want is a Cherry Coke from Wally's Filling Station and to sit on the front porch and count cars and wave to people. If only for 30 minutes.

Andy Taylor was a beautifully gifted man . I am grateful for the fact I lived in a time where I was able to enjoy his skills .

The actor that played Rafe - Jack Prince is in another episode. There was a singing contest and all the women were thinking NO! I reserached Jack Prince and learned that at a very young age he was trained in singing.

I recall this episode - Rafe refused the shot. He was brought in still refused. When Andy told him about dying he was like huh? what dying NO! I want to live. Now you fetch me that county nurse I'll take that shot. He gets the shot and the nurse looks at the chart and tells Barney that he needed a shot as well lol

I probably saw this episode when it originally ran in 1962. I know I saw it at least a couple of times when I regularly watched Andy Griffith re-runs more than 20 years ago. I hadn't thought about it at all until a couple of days ago when I was reading a news account about a 24-year-old anti-vaxxer ER nurse who worked at a hospital near me who died from covid, probably from the Delta variant that is spreading in my area. I suddenly recalled the way Andy convinced Rafe to get his shot. Too bad we live in the real world and not in Mayberry.

LOL, I've been long overdue a tetanus booster last several doctor visits. She brings up the subject every time I go, but I keep refusing the shot. I told her last time I'd take it next visit just to get her off my back. She'll hold me to it I bet. Wouldn't surprise me when I go next month, the nurse will have that shot waiting soon as I walk in the room. LMAO, I know it's silly to get so worked up. I just hate getting shots. I dread it.

Ive seen plenty antivaxxer arguments claiming that mandating vaccines is a new thing, when in reality its always been a thing. Most schools required multiple vaccines long before COVID, the military mandates Flu shots, you needed to get certain shots to travel to certain countries (especially those with high mosquito populations), and plenty of jobs required them. This isnt anything new.
