Hi there- What are your thoughts (or your colleagues') on the AA job outlook /saturation for the next five years? Looks like it's becoming more competitive.

Hi Adanna! Here is some food for thought. For people who is considering Anesthesia route for a career, you can also become an Anesthesia Technician with a 2 year degree 💥💥 they’re not a lot of programs due to program requirements and etc. but I believe it’s a great 2 step for 2 to 4 year degrees and have early exposure to the field and a wonderful resume builder. One school that I know is one In Durham, NC @ Durham community College and also will give you your science based pre reqs for a bachelors degree! Medicine is continuously evolving and it will only get better👏🏼👏🏼 great video

160k is for taking it easy. It can go much higher if you go the travel/1099 route.

Question: what do you regret doing while following the PA path or selecting career path? Are there anything you would have done differently? I learned sometimes the biggest lessons were the ones where mistakes were made. What are your transparent thoughts? In my own healthcare journey. I Had many triumphs but I also had shortcoming.

My PA dreams are done. It's been 3yrs and I haven't done anything new to improve my chances because I have no time but work to pay off so much debt that I had accumulated during my BS degree. I started working at a different hospital doing the same thing that I've been doing for the last 17 years (ED tech). I don't want to be a nurse because I see what they do every day and I'm doing the same thing but at a lower level then the nurses. I thought about Respiratory Therapist but now I'm thinking about Physical Therapy. I wish that going to PA school would be my only choice but waiting this long and having these younger teens and young adults doing a lot more with higher GPAs has pushed me to the side.

Don’t be an assistant to anyone. What a horrible position to be in for the rest of your life.

Please don’t compare CRNAs with AAs. There’s no comparison. And it confuses people who actually want to know what each entails. One is an assistant to a physician and the other is a licensed independent anesthesia provider. And you are completely wrong about AAs being able to work under their own license with physician compete oversight. They are legally bound to the license of the physician (and it must be an anesthesiologist). They don’t work in “collaboration” with physician anesthesiologists, they work under direct medical supervision. Don’t know where you got your information from but it’s wrong.
