In this video I react to an intubation procedure that is atypical, and review what usually goes on during a standard intubation before someone undergoes surgery.
*Those with sensitive stomachs..be forewarned..when the laryngoscope is being used it might be triggering.
My name is Dr. Karen Francois and I am a 5th year Attending physician based out of NY. These stories will chronicle my life with Anesthesia, as an Anesthesiologist and home life with my husband and 3 children. Through these glimpses into my life I hope to inspire and motivate young women or men into seriously considering Anesthesia as a career choice.
I am a Doctor and I as born and raised in the projects of the Bronx NY and I made it to become of highly respected physician , if I can do it then any one else in my situation can do the same.

I enjoyed this vid, this break down of putting a patient to sleep definitely gave me flashbacks to my anesthesiology rotation in med school.

Thank you so much for reacting to my suggested video doc!! I learned so much from you and dr Shona here on RU-vid about what a normal intubation is like. I love how you go into depth about the medical side and the different drugs involved.

Can you make a video about Pain medicine and its different practices out vs inpatient pain?

Great suggestion! I don’t practice chronic pain management, but learning about it is part of anesthesiology residency.

Thanks for doing this walkthrough! If you don't mind, could you do a video on why you chose to become an Anesthesiologist? What drew you to this field in the first place?

Thanks for the video Dr. Francois! But umm...shouldn't this guy have known that the patient was not sedated enough when her EYES WERE STILL OPEN 👀 AND SHE OPENED HER OWN MOUTH to be intubated 🤔?!?! I mean c'mon 🤦🏿‍♂️smh!!

Lol, I know it looks crazy, but it was intended for her to be more awake than is typical for this intubation to go safely I believe. I have done it before with a just lidocaine to numb the mouth and throat, and the patient fully awake and cooperating! It’s a phenomenal thing! ❇️

@@3anesthesiame40 ok. I've heard of "awake intubations" and never quite understood how that is supposed to work! Guess I'll see it on an anesthesia rotation!!
