Anette Olzon - Ever Dream - Demo November, 2005 

People tend to forget that NW didn't want another Tarja. They wanted to go in a different direction. Annette's version of this was what they were looking for. Annette allowed Tuomas to explore different avenues of music instead of being confined to the operatic vocals that Tarja excelled in. I think Annette's contributions to NW are beyond measure, and most fans don't give her enough credit for what she's done to promote the band and move it past being just another symphonic metal band. On the same note, both Tarja and Annette's solo material have been a bit bland. This just goes to show that the heart of the band was/is still Tuomas.

I don't understand why people thinks that Anetta is not a good singer. She has a lovely voice. Sure she may not be Tarja but she has her own beauty in her voice.

I guess why Tuomas chose Anette. You can hear innocence and simplicity in her voice.

Such an uplifting version, her voice is so bright, absolutely beautiful.

Anette brought so much to the Nightwish party. It is a pity that ‘Tarja diehards’ cast so much negativity on Anette. All three Nightwish girls have been brilliant in their own DIFFERENT ways.

Anette has always been my favorite vocalist for Nightwish. Nothing ahainst Floor or Tarja as they are also amazing. I'm just saying my favorite stuff from Nightwish was when Anette sang for them. Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum are my favorite records from Nightwish. I will always love Anette's voice and consider her one of the best vocalists in the Symphonic Metal scene.

The band's phase with Anette was the best. Best albums and best formation. Anette was the best NW vocalist. She raised the band's work to a public level where neither Tarja nor Floor could. Her contribution goes beyond just being a vocalist.

I dont know why... but I love this version from Anette.

I like how she adapted it to fit her voice better. I like Nightwish with Anette - she did a great job with the two albums she is on - even Dark Passion Play, which is a lot of people's least favorite... "Meadows of Heaven" is fantastic.

I love Anette and DPP and Imaginarium and all her work, I just used to hear Tarja in that one, but she really did a nice job

Anette has a very beautiful tone to her voice... I just wish she had trained it a little more, not necessarily classically, but she sounds so shaky sometimes, as if she's going great and suddenly she switches into karaoke mode. :)

I really like Anette's songs in Dark Element, they're excellent and I listen to some of them on repeat even these days, it's just some songs are written for a different singing style, like ballades, operas etc. Anette did a great attempt at the song that's not exactly written for her singing style here, but I'd still like if she didn't change the lyrics as I failed to sing along :(.

Actually, I did hear Anette singing Ever Dream live (I've got a recording of it in my channel). I thought it was perfect, she had so much power in the chorus, it was really amazing. And, well, if you ask me, Anette can sing as well live as she did in studio. I'm really sad that she left Nightwish because I think that she suited Nightwish perfectly.

Revendo. Adoro a voz dela, acho muito autêntica e nada de clichês. Se não deu certo na banda, creio que seja por um motivo parecido com o do Blaze no Iron: ter que cantar músicas antigas que não se encaixam bem na sua voz, só isso. Talento, a Anette tem de sobra.

I didn't say anything on how I manage to sing that song... anyway, I am NOT a singer so I don't have to deliver a good live performance on a daily basis like she has to do... I didn't say that I don't like her, or anything bad about her... What I meant to say is: this demo is a really nice job compare to what I hear live... Plus, this is a song meant for Tarja's voice, I prefer the original one.

I love Tarya's and Floor's voices but Annette`s voice is the best.

So sad that you have to put that warning on the description :( this version is pretty awesome! I like it a lot and each singer has their own style. Anette's is great, as if she was close... I don't know how can I explain it, but I love it!

Ok so I swear I'm not trying to be rude to Anette or offensive. Just my opinion. This is a great demo of Ever Dream but when she sings the older songs live she made it sound like an 80s pop song. She's a great singer and I loved her in nightwish. It's she KINDA failed in singing the songs that tarja recorded. But this is a great demo! Peace and love! 💕

I'm pleasantly surprised by this demo. I didn't think she could perform Tarja's songs well based on what I heard from live recordings. Tarja does this better but I like this version too. :) Can't wait for Decades to come out so we all get to hear Floor's take on it as well.

It's the best version of this song. Her voice is great. Tarja voice is classic, Floor's is modern, but Annette's is the best...

You don't have any idea how big thing Nightwish was to their fans. (And you will never have.) It was like a religion. Untouchable and sacred. Something more than a life itself. When they fired Tarja.. To fans it was like they would have ripped the hearts from the chests.

I, for one, have been listening to Nightwish since the 'Wishmaster' album came out. I love both Tarja and Annette and recognize that both of them have completely different vocal styles but are equally talented. Honestly, can you imagine working with Tuomas? He's a brilliant musician and poet, but he's a musician and a poet. Being one or the other is bad enough but oh my god, both? Can you imagine working and living and breathing in the same vicinity as someone who is both a poet and a musician?

It’s not bad but unfortunately for her, a goddess came after her and elevated those songs to a level that…………………. maybe only Tuomas had envisioned……. If you actually believe Floor getting the 48 hour call was a random event…………. Tuomas has envisioned Floor singing his songs long, long, long before Annette got sick……

After getting into Nightwish I was actually confused because of the videos showing 3 different singers tarja being so powerfully 1 sided and Annette on opposite spectrum the floor that can nail both and honestly the best. But without the dynamic history floor wouldn’t stand out so much and I appreciate they revisit old songs live and not re-record as some to most people wish. But in the end Nightwish history is compelling.

Her voice is special kind of sweet, she isn't powerful as Tarja, but nevertheless makes me feel good

All three female lead singers had their pluses and their minuses. I like them all, but I do have a tendency to like one more then another in certain songs. In my opinion Ever Dream is a Tarja song with Floor next and Anette last. But that is my opinion of course. Some may switch it around and like Anetter first. They were all great and!

Was the music played by Alyson Avenue? Kind of sounds like them.

Not criticizing her, but did she change the chorus for any reason? She sings "Ever felt away with me / My love, it lies so deep" instead of "Ever felt away WITHOUT me"

I like the new singer but I am sad that she left the band/was fired or whatever it was. I don't think this song is the best one for her to sing, but the escapist, home in TPATP and Amaranth were great for her. That said I'm really digging Èlan as a single with Floor and I can't see her doing well with that song, or at least as well as Floor has

I like both Tarja and Olzon, but i dont like last one, who is actual now, if im not wrong, after Olzon I dont listen Nightwish anymore, because cant listen their new female vocal. So, Olzon is good as Tarja was. Yes, they are different , but they made Nightwish for me

That's totally okay. I don't think that Anette was always perfect, especially on songs originally sung by Tarja (especially on Slaying The Dreamer, she wasn't belting there, she was screaming) but I think if you consider that those weren't written for her, she does a really amazing job. I like Tarja as well, but I totally love Anette, she's my favourite singer :)

Ever dream is THE Nightwish song for me. The lyrics and the feeling are what I adore and more than music: Love, lust, deep longing and hope. When I heard it for the first time I got obsessed with nw :D And it was just a live video, sung by Anette.

All 3 singers are different in their own way and that is a good thing. We are lucky that Nightwish have had 3 very talented singers. My own opinion is that Tarja was unique, there was not really any rock bands with an "operatic voice". personally I find it hard to understand the words she is singing, unless I have subtitles. There is no way Thoumas could have another singer like Tarja and I fully respect his decision to go with Anette. the albums with her are more accessible, you can hear the lyrics much easier. Anette does struggle at times with Tarja era songs. Anette though has a wonderful childlike innocence to her voice. Only 1 song makes my cry everytome Poet and Pendulum but has to be Anette. I find Floor just a tad agressive especially on Mother and father section. Floor is a magnificent singer though and she easily manages all era of Nightwish songs. In terms of singing quality, and versatility, IMHO has to be Floor, then Tarja then Anette. Interestingly there is very little live footage of Anette of a decent quality, I think it was probably because she was just not as confident a singer as Tarja and Floor. I have heard Anette with her band, Dark Element and she has improved dramatically. I have also seen tarja live recently and her voice is still superb and more rock orientated now

If I were Tuomas, I would have flushed this demo down the toilet. I mean, I love her now, I was sorry when she split ways with Nightwishm but still cannot understand why did they choose her listening to this version of the song.

Even if Tarja and Anette have two voices which are far differents, I love them both. We can't compare two uncomparables things.

At the beginning I thought that this is nothing special, but then it gets better and better. Pop covers of classical songs often sound cool, and something similar can also be said about this one. :))))) Still I like the original a lot more, but thumbs up for this version too! I am surprised in a positive way I admittedly didnt expect :) And btw these (except the first one) are some of the coolest pics of Anette I have ever seen! :)).

i just love the song!! the way she make the cover was very risking but worth it! i think Tuomas sees in her, that, she can be herself, without care what people think, and probably he wanted somebody so free in every way, in her personal life and as a singer. and that is what she proof here.

tarja one day was singing this music when i say ''i love you forever'' my love is too far now, and tarja is not the voice behind this song. i remember with passion these two things in my life. :)

According to Google: Anette Olzon is a world class female singer having recorded for almost 1 dozen bands so far. DARK PASSION PLAY has outsold all other Nightwish material COMBINED. That being said.... My favorite female singer is Floor Jansen.
