Perfect wisdom, Nel. This is what I did many years ago. I abandoned the tradition of helping my parents and I abandoned so many expectations of the Filipino society na nagpapahirap sa mga tao like pyesta, birthday, bakasyon. Inuna ko muna ang sarili ko. Then, things got better in my life. Maraming taong magsasabi sayo na madamot ka. Hinayaan ko na lang. Now, I have no problem with my family at mas nakakatulong pa sa iba. Yun ang problema kasi maraming tao ang walang tapang na gumawa ng sariling mga desisyon, kasi nasanay na sa tradisyon na pakinggan muna ang pamilya, ang nakatatanda, etc. At yung batayan nila ng pagiging isang mabuting anak, asawa o magulang ay ang pagbibigay sa kanila magulang, asawa, o anak. Kaya kung sa sarili sila nagbibigay o magbibigay, nagi-guilty sila kasi naiisip nila baka madamot sila. Yan ang mga taong forever ay slave ng tradition. Well, mababait at mabubuting tao naman ang mga ganon pero yun lang, hindi nila maiisip na bigyan ang sarili nila kasi ang tanging kaligayahan nila ay ang mapasaya ang iba. Kaya kung mapapanood nila ang videong ito, sigurado hindi nila makikita na ito ay mensahe ng pagtulong, kungdi mensahe ng pagsalungat sa tradisyong Pilipinong kinamulatan nila. Pero, napakaganda ng message ng video na ito. Share ko ito sa marami at sa mga estudyante ko.

I 100% agree with you, you work hard normally 8hrs or the maximum of 9hrs a day, and what’s that for? Just set aside even 4th part of your earnings for yourself, for your family and for the future, minimise your debt such as loans, credit card etc. Nothing happen to your life if you do not know how to control your own income, you worked with nothing. This is also my advice, during your pay day or whatever source of income you have...set aside for savings first before expenses👍

ako iba ang ginagawa ko! mag bayad muna ako ng bills bago ako mag save ng para sa akin! at mag shoping ako sa tuwing ika tatlong buwan, at hindi ako basta basta na bumibili ng ma nga karangyaang gamit, iniisip ko muna kung worth ba ang isang bagay na bilhin o hindi! at sa awa naman ng diyos kahit papaano may na itatabi naman akong pera, na puwede kunang pang negosyo!

I love this idea... i will do my best to do... 15yrs na aq sa abroad walang naipon, hindi pala maganda ang resulta ng inuuna ang kapakanan ng iba(ina,kapatid,pamangkin) ok lng sana kng pinahalagahan ka nila, kaso lab ka lng nila kng endless tulong mo sa kanila,pero once na tigil nah, ikaw pa ang masama,kng anu2 cnasabi... so lesson learned na me now, mag (hashtag PMFN) #PayMyselfFirstNah!😍🤗🤔 Thank you so much, Admin. 😀

Kailangan talaga yan" bayaran mo muna na natin ang sarili bago gastos" Pag may sahod ka ng 1000' kaylangan kunin mo muna ang 10 ℅at I save mo' at ang natira ung ang gagastusin . yang ang sinasabing bayaran muna ang sarili .kadalasan kasi gastos muna bago save. 'paano kong wala ng natira" ? Di wala ng maiisave..dhil naubos na.

Good message, but investing is the real goal here. Saving is not enough because of inflation. We make money work for us not the vice versa, and this is by investing. But saving is still a must. Save at least 3-12X of your monthly salary. Then the rest is to put on investments.

Hello Aaron, dagdag ko lang. Insurance means protecting the income na mawawala in case of death. Saving and investing for the future is preparing in case of emergencies, retirement and other financial goals. Thanks for watching. :)
