I still say that the prophecy regarding a vampire with a soul, who would die saving the world and then come back to “life” was actually about Spike all along and never about Angel. After all, Spike also had a soul (though he sought his soul out), and he died at the end of Buffy, only to become a ghost and then get his body back, this “coming back to life.” So yeah. He checked all the boxes….
Gotta not only thank James Marsters for his amazing portrayal of Spike, but also the fans bringing him up since “School Hard” in Buffy, making him more than a temporary character ; so then he ended up on Angel
"You've been yelling at each other for 40 minutes about this...... Do the astronauts have weapon?" I love that he entertain the idea of the discussion.
Loved Angel and Spike together. They were amazing. People talk about Buffy and Angel's chemistry or Buffy and Spike's chemistry, but there arent enough shout outs to Angel and Spike's chemistry. Was the best part of Angel Season 5.
James really needed to make an appearance on Bones, they could’ve had him as a guest star on a few episodes of his annoying college roommate or something
@@TheHalloweenKing Great point! I just got into the Bones series a few mos ago & already bought 3 DVD seasons I liked & noticed they had some Buffy actors in some episodes. Helfrich?, Andrew & Jonathon? + some others. I'd like to see others but maybe they didn't want to be on the show?
This is what puts me off long running series now. I like a story to have a good ending. So many times I read about a series being cancelled or having a huge disappountment at the end that I just don't want to get involved anymore.
I love ensouled Spike as a character. He's still very much the same guy he was as a soulless demon, snarkiness and all, but his newly restored conscience means he can carry a lot more serious/emotional scenes and express his feelings in a way he couldn't before.
@@TheHalloweenKingno. If not for Buffy spike wouldn’t of been who he was. Stop hating. Spike came to angel at the perfect time they both needed. Comics are there and canon I believe and they are all together. I, not sure about angel but I know spike Buffy and faith are working together
Whilst I liked Angel, I loved Spike! I'm so glad that they chose to change him from a 'disposable' to a recurring and then regular character-and James Marsters portrayed him superbly. I actually thought he was British, until I found out otherwise.
Somehow season 5 was Angels best season. I am in the minority and loved season 4 as well but I’ve never seen a show hit it’s absolute peak in its last season. Great show so sad we didn’t get a season 6.
I think that can be explained with the fact that Angel wasn't supposed to end there. As I understand it, the story goes that the network always waited until the last minute to renew the show and the actors (and probably the crew as well) didn't care for that because they never knew whether they still had a job or if they should start looking for new ones. Whedon went to the network to ask for early renewal and the network misunderstood his request as a demand and cancelled the show. There are probably a ton of details missing, but that's the basic breakdown.
@@matthewpelletier6900 no that's it that was actually why I was saying I so sad we didn't get season 6, Joss fucked it up smh. But season 5 was fantastic
Agree. But I also think Angel got exponentially better with every episode starting back with season 1. I never imagined it would be as good or emotional as it was from the beginning.
The character development got better over time. It's the story arc towards the end that turned to ish. Jasmine was arguably one of the best Angel-Buffy Big Bads. It was the whole Angel son sleeping with Cordy and lusting after her that just threw the whole thing out of wack. I wasn't so much a big fan of most the characters on the Angel show ending up with superpowers. Alot can be told from the human perspective but as I've always siad Angel was not an interesting enough character to carry a show on his own. Spike is who breathe alot of life into the show.
@@desecration171 I disagree on Angel not being interesting enough. Out of all the supporting characters on Buffy besides maybe Faith, he's the only character that I could see holding his own show. He's easily got a richer backstory and deeper inner conflicts than almost any other side character on Buffy, especially at the time of season 3 which set up his spin-off. Although with that said, I will admit that after Angel's third season, it felt like the writers sometimes didn't know what to do with his character. They gave him some great development in the first 3 seasons by having Angel gradually come out of his shell and form a family-like dynamic with his team, which gave him more depth than just mostly being the brooding vampire on Buffy. But during Season 4, it seems like they didn't know what to do with him, which could also be said for most of the characters in that season aside from Wesley. Things did start to get better in Season 5, but the show sadly ended there. In regards to Spike, I honestly don't think Spike can carry his own show. He is similar to Jack Sparrow in a lot of ways. He's the most fun character in an ensemble where he has plenty of other characters to play off of, but I don't know if he has enough introspection to hold an entire series. I think if you put him as the protagonist or the main POV character of a movie or show, then the stories would gradually get rather stale and less interesting, which is pretty much what happened with the Pirates films once Jack Sparrow was made the protagonist.
My husband and I met James Marsters in 2017, and we had him cracking up, when we told him that my husband's favorite phrase he ever uttered was, "You're a wee little puppet man !" Meeting him was so cool. I told him that he was my sole reason for watching the show and he said that I had great taste.
James' accent was much worse in the beginning, if you rewatch School Hard you'll notice it was different. Anthony Stewart Head took him aside because he was embarrassing him by association or something and taught him how to make it better.
Most of these remind me more of siblings rather than spouses, especially the astronauts cavemen with Wesley as the dad who has had enough of their shenanigans.
Spike to Wesley: if cavemen and astronauts got into a fight who would win? Wesley: 😐😐😐 You’re been yelling at each other for 49 minutes about this… I’m dead 🤣🤣🤣
Puppet Angel fighting Spike is hilarious 🤣 love when Spike is ROFL and Angel hits him and Spike saying "HEY! That's enough!" And just throws him made me wheeze
Oh my goodness... This is so hilarious! I was looking for a compilation of these two bickering because they're so precious and funny together and you did it! Thank you so much for this! It's perfect ❤️
They forgot "and I'm almost out of that Nancy boy hair gel I like so much do the Angel mobile away!" - spike.also Spike -"I'm just a BIG Fluffy Puppy with bad teeth." His mocking of angel is so good.
In a one on one fight I think a caveman would win because they would probably be tougher and used to fighting to the death, but, if two groups fought then I would pick the astronauts, because they could properly communicate and work as a team.
The Les Mis thing is just ambiguous enough. Does he mean that the play is so awful that it'll drive Angel nuts and want to kill people again.... Or does Spike think that Les Mis would grant a moment of pure happiness?
Considering they lived through historical events very similar to what's featured in the play... I think Spike is implying that they would just get fed up while watching it and start killing everybody LOL
I always thought it meant that the darkness of Les Mis would make Angel lose faith in humanity and start killing them again. The whole musical is about human cruelty and the darkness that humans have inflicted onto each other, the first act is about a man who got imprisoned in a labour camp for stealing bread to feed starving kids, and then we meet the single mom Fantine who gets forced into selling her teeth, hair and then prostitution due to society hating women who have kids out of wedlock etc etc. Angel would probably lose faith in humans and be so enraged all over again
Haahahaha, “I signaled her with my eyes” while they were closed? What a nerd. I prefer captain peroxide over captain forehead, but, you know, they are both hot dudes with super powers. 😊
My drag mother has the Angel puppet (not the original, obviously) on display next to her wigs! Apparently one of the reasons she decided I could be her daughter was that I was more interested in that than her jewelry.
I wish Lilah came back in at least one of the episodes of season 5. Would of been cool if there was a scene where she meet Spike. I would love to see bad ass verbal sparring between Spike and Lilah. Spike would constantly insult Lilah with his sense of humor inspite of how intimidating she was.
They owed the fans of this show a much better finale. I know the story continued in comic books, but if you don't read those it ended horribly wrong. I also never liked what they did to Lindsey. Christian Kane's character had so much potential for redemption and they just wasted it.
Exactly! I completely forgot about that scene until now. I don't know why it's always so surprising when you hear Harry Potter references on old shows and movies, like "remember when the Olson twins movie "winning London" made a Harry Potter reference?"
It’s the sheer fact that they hate each other but are still somewhat loyal to each other that makes their chemistry explode perfectly… I think if they’d killed each other Buffy would’ve had someone’s head ripped off unless someone turned evil to cause that, yes of course she’d pick Angel over Spike any day but she knows how valuable Spike can be so i feel she’d still be very much angered
I mean I never shipped them I kinda see them like siblings cause of their interactions and how different they are, it reminds me of me and my brother. XDDD thanks for this made me laugh and reminisce.
@Ashley, between various Buffy/Angel themed videos on RU-vid, and a new series of novels based on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," by Kendare Blake, I AM so beyond reminded that if I could only keep one streaming service, it would be Hulu. And yes, I look forward to watching them again. I have watched all of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," seven times, and all of "Angel," six times.
2:45 Considering that the austronaut would have to be in peak physical condition to even become an austronaut, while the caveman would most likely be malnourished, sick, a head lower and 20k lighter... yeah, my bet is on the austronaut.
