I went to Memphis with Todd Snider last month and filmed a bunch of stuff. This is from a larger project that we're working on that I'll make public sometime soon. Todd played a secret show for some hardcore fans and this is from that. He did 3 sets sets (zero rehearsals) with Keith Sykes and some other old friends. It's rough around the edges and fun. This was filmed by me and my buddy Todd Fox. please feel free to share this with your friends. I have a pal, it's been for 45 years now, and back in the day whenever we were at a bar with solo acoustic music he would shout out, "Angel from Montgomery!" I did not yet know the song, but heard it a while later via Bonnie Raitt. We saw a Bonnie show and of course, Ted yelled out his predictable request. And also of course, she played it as an encore. I subsequently learned the tune and have performed it 100 times in the last 13 years or so, each time for Ted. John Prine was such a treasure.
Thanks Otis for this great version of yet another iconic Prine song. Saw you and Todd here in Eau Claire last fall (Halloween) and I got to shake your hand and chat for a quick minute…. Thanks for that too, and the inspiration and historical visions you share with all of us. In spite of it all, the human connection you provide-this matters most and is the essence of Art….
Otis, thank you so much, I love stuff like that, just get together and jam, I love Todd, he did a show last Sunday at the purple building with people from the neighborhood in east Nashville, Thanks brother
Great vibe on this. I feel like a fly on the wall at a funky after hours backstage jam session. Todd is always 100% committed to whatever song he's singing at the moment.
Thank you, Otis 🙏🏻 The first John Prine song I learned, one of my mom's favorites. The whole band sounds great and like they're having a good time. Fantastic capture on video. Happy Friday! Be good to you 🤍💛
I'm 67 and this has been my favorite song of all time since John wrote it. Written by John Prine . Perfected by Bonnie Raitt. Congrats on an excellent rendition.
