Watch the game where they credited her for a rebound with 20 seconds left for having her shot blocked, she caught it and stepped out of bounds for a turnover. The ball never touched the backboard or the rim, just went off the opponent's hand and Reese caught it. That supposedly gave her her 10th "rebound."
@JHovaSugar she didn't get credited for the rebounding but she got fould sending her to the line for the extra two pts. Extending her double double. If she didn't get the foul her DD record would end.

I can't tell you how many games I've watched Caitlin run out the clock rather than take a layup to pad her stats, that's the difference between her and Angel.
@quentelhill5074 she doesn't still it's their game plan. She talks about it in the interviews. She says it's good when she can get to rebound so they can make a play in transition, you know those long passes for a layup that they always get 3+ a game.

That's what teammates do when their teammate is on a hot streak. This is nothing new in sports. They're not even thinking about ROY, it's more about history and what the fans wanted. They went crazy when she got the DD. They do this in baseball all the time. Westbrook, KD, Kobe etc. all have done this.

I think Angel has supported every player on this team? Mabrey’s missed fts, Carter’s behavior, Tspoon and other players very publicly. She always talks about the W vets and gives Chicago love constantly. That being said…she loses track of her stats all the time…it’s perfectly within reason that she was unaware of the time or her numbers…she very well could’ve noticed after the clock ran out and realized that she was that close to not getting it. Or she could’ve completely known…either way…the kids that were there deserved to see the most popular player on the floor execute what she’s popular for outside of social media….could you imagine going to a Caitlin Clark game and not seeing her shoot a single 3?…isn’t a similar situation how she broke the 3 point record in college…she shot 1/12 that game didn’t she? I don’t understand what’s the issue if you see someone about to break a record or extend as a team you help them. They do it in football all the time. In all sports, you play until the clock expires, regardless of the score. They do the same thing in the NBA and NFL, and nobody has anything to say about it. Yet, anytime it comes to Angel Reese, people want to pick up everything she does. She's not expanding anything because she's always been able to shoot jumpers, because she was a guard in High School. Most of you are new to watching women's college basketball, including the WNBA.

I don't see people crying over teams that are clearly losing a game while the other team continues to pile on the points. I've seen a college game where a player took a 3-point shot just before the buzzer, and nobody was on him. The commentators even stated you play until the clock shows zero because there's no rule saying a team has to run the clock out.

But Carter was running down the clock to end the game. So yea it would be understandable if the team was going for it but it was just her. Then the other players noticed and told carter to pass her the ball.
Her team was up 7 points with 15 secs left and instead of just running out the clock they ran down the floor to get Angel the ball because Angel only had 9 points, and Tina Charles gave her a pity foul to give Angel 2 free throws with 4 fucking seconds left
If you’re not a fan…you bite your thumb at it…understood…but it was an arena full of kids that wanted you to see a double double…why would you not give it to them? Especially the kind of game she had…she’s trying to develop her outside shot and let Kamilla eat more so she gave up A LOT of opportunities to get that point…and she was only down by a point…it might as well have been a double double anyway…and she gave the fans what they came for..a win and a DD2…that Atlanta fought HARD to keep her from achieving.

To me, stat-padding to break a record is pretty similar to stat-padding to extend a record. If you have a historic streak such as Reese's with the double-double streak imho you would want to keep that streak alive for as long as possible to try to make it unbreakable. So if you're okay with stat-padding to break the record, you should probably be okay with stat-padding to keep it going. Not trying to excuse her play by any means. That's just the way I see it.
It also looked like Carter who had the ball looked away thinking maybe just run to time off, but passed it to someone and that someone then throw it to Reese who get fouled.
I am concluding two things about Reese: Great baller; Immature human. It’s the latter that prevents me from stepping into her fan zone. I am open to that changing… and will be patiently hopeful.
Double double with rebounding isn’t that impressive tbh. Double double with assist is far more impressive. One shows that you are benefitting from misses. While the other shows that you can get your teammates involved

Did you see Chennedy Carter's teammate pointing at Reese and telling Carter to pass her the ball, and when Carter passed the ball to that teammate she immediately passed it to Reese.
