We speak with renowned scholar and activist Angela Davis on the 58th anniversary of the assassination of Malcolm X. Davis is delivering a keynote address Tuesday at the Shabazz Center in New York, formerly the Audubon Ballroom, where the iconic Black leader was killed on February 21, 1965. Davis says Malcolm is still vital to understanding racism, power and justice in the United States and beyond. "Malcolm always placed these issues in a larger context, and I think that we can learn a great deal from that legacy today," says Davis. She also responds to recent moves by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and others to restrict the teaching of African American history, calling it an effort to "turn the clock back" on racial progress.

"Three of my most favorite quotes I post here: I will unite with anyone to do good and no one to do bad."~ Fredrick Douglas "The Media is the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and make the guilty innocent. They control the minds of the masses." ~ Malcom X "If you are not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." ~ Malcolm X

Also, since we seem to be heading over into a Thermal Nuclear Abyss, I wanted to encourage Amy to invite Scott Ritter back on her show, asap. What he knows about the Ukrainian and Russian conflict is not being heard enough. It's a more accurate account than the propagandized one that most Americans are being fed, once again. SCOTT RITTER is the US Marine and former UN WMD's Inspector who tried to TELL the TRUTH regarding Iraq before the US INVASION. He is and EXCELLENT source to hear the deeper truths about this $100 billion dollar give away to the Military Industrial Complex. And kudos to Amy for having him on her shows in 2003 to expose the lies of the Bush Administration. Ritter's knowledge about this conflict is important! Very important! AND the stakes have never been higher! Ritter and many other experts are saying, WE ARE AT THE BRINK OF A THERMAL NUCLEAR CONFRONTATION with Russia. He again is doing his best to stop this insanity! He tried to tell the world in 2003 that Iraq did NOT have WMD's. But of course the Military Industrial Complex who actually runs this country, did NOT want the public to know that fact. I wish Amy would have Ritter back on her show. He has been on many times in the past conflicts. Jeffrey Sachs and Scott Ritter are basically saying the same thing as SB below. Also Jeffrey Sachs is a credible and good alternative source. SB Comments: " @The Lightning Count you seems to be quite disinformed, the US have a big share of responsibility for this war, the democratically elected president Yanukovich was forced to leave by a coup that was backed by the US in wich some neofascist groups played an important role. Ethnic Russians were regularly discriminated against and in some cases killed by these ultranationalist groups for example dozens of them were burnt alive in Odessa during a pro Russia protest. Crimea has been historically Russian and there was a strategically important Russian naval base there, even after Ukraine independence, to protect that base was one of the main reasons why Russian occupied Crimea. The overwhelming majority of Crimeans people are pro Russian the same can be said for most of Eastern and southern Ukraine. There were some peace talks in Minsk wich Merkel admitted were just to give Ukraine some time to prepare Ukraine for war. A cease fire agreement was reached but then Ukraine shelled civilians in the Dombass for years. Then there's Zelensky coming out from nowhere, his relationship with kolomoinsky (an Ukrainian oligarch who used a private neofascist militia to protect his interests), who sponsored his campaign which was based on the promise of reaching an agreement with Russia but who followed a very pro nato, and quick rearming policy and never shown any political will to find a peaceful solution to this conflict." ALSO: I'm sharing this little known fact: Allen Dulles, CIA Chief when JFK was president, was asked if he was concerned about a controversial CIA matter, he said, "No, because most Americans don't read." Scanning some of the comments here, it truly amazes me just how ill informed so many still are re: the Ukraine and Russian War, Nato and US foreign policies. Did you know that JFK and Allen Dulles were enemies? That JFK fired Dulles and said he was going to, "blow up the CIA into a thousand pieces"? That Dulles who was Kennedy's sworn enemy gets appointed to the Warren Commission. WOW! A sworn enemy of President Kennedy is put in charge of determining who assassinated him? And then so many scratch their heads and wonder why we are where we are today. It's a fact look up! Show less
