Angela, my sweet summer child 💙 Quick note: I absolutely adore Angela and this is totally just a fun compilation. I won't tolerate hateful or rude comments. Disclaimer: I don't own any of this footage -- Smosh does!
no honestly Angela is so real for this shes taking one for the team for all of the girlies who get confused about everything and needs like extra time to figure it out omg
angela making a joke, it not landing AT ALL and then saying “oof i wish i didn’t do that” is single handedly one of the funniest things i’ve ever seen 😭😭 the way her face dropped when she looked around and no one was laughing
Dude I can’t fucking explain electricity and I’m an electrician who’s three years into my elective journeyman classes. Concepts that we take for granted are really hard to grasp I feel like. Not that electricity is super difficult to figure out the basics of. But like. It’s just always there. If someone asked me to explain it I’d probably go just as mind blank as “fire fire fire” too
@@Awesomeferret10 You don't find it strange that you are THREE YEARS into becoming an electrician and you don't know the basics of what electricity is??? This is stuff we learned in like 3rd or 4th grade in the US That's kinda worrying
@@BBones541 bro one it’s a joke yes I’m aware of how electricity functions I just don’t think about it on a daily basis because I take it for granted just like most people who use it day in and day out and never take the time to recall how it works, second “in the us” is a bullshit metric because education varies wildly from state to state third I’m glad your memory is incredible and that you remember fourth grade but as a guy who is also in the USA I cannot tell you anything I learned before like junior year of highschool and even that’s fairly shaky. On top of the fact that whatever simple explanation they teach in fourth grade is definitely not even close to the truth of the answer someone might expect from an adult with an explanation of electricity. But I mean I guarantee there are electricians on my team that don’t know how electricity functions. Because they don’t need that to wire a three way switch or a receptacle. Base understanding of how electricity travels is useful in troubleshooting but with enough fiddling around with a DMM and some general life experience you don’t even need that most of the time. I’m enrolled in classes since I’m in my local Union but that is not a requirement to be a non union electrician. You need nothing more than a highschool diploma and a license for the majority of apprenticeships in my area. Which does not mean any of those guys are stupid for not ever thinking about the thing that has been around since their very memory works.
@@BBones541 okay bro this is like the wildest reply I’ve ever gotten to comment. Which probably shows how little I read replies. But you are PRESSED for so little of a reason and maybe I’m being dramatic but I need to respond in kind holy shit. Okay okay so 1. Yes I do in fact understand how electricity works, I’ve been taking classes on it since highschool and while it’s not my like top most passion I was obviously fairly interested in it to get into the career I’m in. Not sure how well I’d be able to explain it in a situation where someone was quizzing me which is what the back half of my comment was about. However, I don’t think about how it actually functions on the daily since it doesn’t really matter for what I’m doing, and people who don’t work with electricity definitely are never thinking about how it works and are just taking it for granted. Hence my joke and Angela’s very valid response of “it’s fire”. 2. I do in fact live in the good old US of A and saying “at least in the US” is so funny because the education curriculums vary so wildly between schools it’s insane especially in some of those earlier grades. 3. I’m very glad you remember your fourth grade classes and hey maybe my memory is just shit but I straight up don’t remember anything I learned before like junior year of highschool and even that’s pretty shaky. I couldn’t honestly tell you if I was taught the basics of electricity, but even if I was I sure as hell wouldn’t remember it and I’m sure there are tons of people who are the same. On top of the fact that whatever simplistic explanation of electricity they give to fourth graders (along the lines of “the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell” and “there are three branches of government that act as a checks and balance system to keep everything fair”) is definitely not anywhere near the adult level of explanation that might be required if anyone is expected to know how electricity functions as an adult human. 4. Dude, like, maybe this will scare you a little. But electricians are less qualified than you think. We aren’t dirty stinky smelly idiots like some peoples perception of the trades. But we aren’t exactly geniuses either. I take optional classes with my union to work towards being recognized as a journeymen by them (and getting to petition my state for a bachelors degree while not actually having to pay for college (although I do have to pay my union)), but a lot of electricians don’t. The majority of apprenticeships in my area require a highschool diploma and a driver’s license. That’s it. A lot of qualified intelligent electricians who have so much experience they can troubleshoot any issue in 10 minutes flat wouldn’t have necessarily sat down and been like “what is electricity and how does it function”. You can get a lot done with the basic knowledge of “don’t complete the circuit” and “electricity likes the path of least resistance”. And you don’t even really need that for a lot of residential stuff where you’re just roughing in and running feeders. The knowledge of what electricity is and where it comes from and how the transformer bumps it up and down as it travels across powers lines while interesting is the last thing I’m thinking about if I’m like fucking I don’t know running a three way, the only thoughts on my brain are about the podcast in my head and double checking that my boxes are at the right height. I mean even for troubleshooting where an idea of how electricity works can really help, if you brute force it with a DMM and enough general experience you can skate by pretty nicely. Electricity is weird. It does weird things. I’ve been actively working with it for three years and all the guys I’m around and learning from on a daily basis have ten year’s minimum and they don’t even know sometimes. Just the other day me and another apprentice were splicing some live wires into boxes in the basement and the guy I was working with just was like I got shocked and I was like okay why did you get stupid all of a sudden and he was like I swear to god I just touched the ground wire. So we both checked it and double checked it with our crickets and sure enough the grounds were hot. We both have no idea how this could happen so we go get the guy who OWNS THE COMPANY AND HAS DONE THIS FOR FIFTEEN YEARS. And after him and two other guys hanging around confirm and then confirm again and then confirm one last time that they are in-fact hot he goes “I literally have no clue what could be causing this… I’m gonna touch the two ground wires together and see if anything explodes and we’ll go from there” so he took two pieces of wire insulation from the floor and pushed the grounds together while the rest of the people with self preservation stood back. And nothing happened. So he gripped them with his full hand. And nothing happened. And we checked them with the cricket. And they were both no longer hot. No knowledge of how electricity functions could have prepared me for ground wires randomly going hot (although I’m sure there’s some actual reason it happened if I looked into it like whatever appliances it was connected to upstairs was being silly goofy or something). So hell man even if I didn’t know how electricity worked no I wouldn’t think it’s that weird because honestly it doesn’t do very much for me on a day to day. Sorry I probably implied a tone into your comment that I shouldn’t have lol, but yeah I mean an electrician not knowing how electricity works is not as wild as a concept as it sounds. Both electricity and electricians be silly goofy. Also I just kinda enjoyed getting to ramble about how stupid electricity is sometimes (why did the dishwasher make the grounds hot? Like seriously? How?)
in the artists on artists on artists on artists patreon she went more in depth about her high school and it was literally in the back of a korean church?? they had to cross a busy street to get to the cafeteria and she was student body president. they didnt learn any valuable skills its truly insane
I like how for the periodic table bit, she goes “I didn’t take AP bio” even though the periodic table is chemistry She needs her own Arrested Development narration
I’m convinced Angela is Spencer’s spirit animal because the head drop of shame and the pure joys he gets out of the disconnect is pure joy and serotonin inducing.
angela's so real for the meme website comment bc i had the same reaction. whenever i make a meme i have a folder on my phone of blank templates and i go into photoshop on my phone and make them from the blank templates ive literally never used a website and i thought everyone did it like that 😭😭
as someone who attended a STEM middle and high school it is so fascinating to see how our counterparts live lmao. angela is truly one of my favorite people on smosh and i love the confused girl representation (i went through my stem education being very confused and angela makes me feel seen)
She is by far my favourite of the new cast, I love them all but her, Shayne and Spencer are amazing and I know i'll absolutely love anything any of them are in
So glad she got a performing arts job cause if she had to work in an office or manual labour she would be ripped to shreds and not in a friendly way like they do on Smosh
It’s so funny bc I always genuinely understand her confusion lmao My brain is also like that!! The wires get crossed so I understand when she says something that’s completely different from what she means 😭
I don’t want to say how much time I’ve spent watching your videos. Even if I’ve already seen them on the Smosh channels! Your so good at this and it’s even more amazing to see how your channel grows and like your editing;)
I love Angela, I love her personality, I hope she stays with Smosh for years, but she really represents my issues with Theater School. It really stunts the intelligence of its students on a deep level She's far from the first person from a theater school I've seen or met, and they all lack a lot information that we'd learn from a regular school
angela is actually not so incorrect about the fire thing with the lights. lightbulbs aren't much different than candles right? they just produce enough heat to turn some of that heat into light
Tbf, I KNOW how electricity works, but I can't EXPLAIN how electricity works, does that make sense? Also, I've legit made the 9/11 mistake before, lol.
