I don‘t care what anyone says, she‘s one of the best Chancellors Germany has ever had! She saved our economy from a catastrophic collapse and all she always gave her best to act in European interests! When you don’t count Adenauer, Schmidt and Brandt, Merkel is truly my favourite! Vielen lieben dank Mutti dass du all die Jahre auf uns aufgepasst hast! Hoffentlich macht dir die Rente bald Spaß :D

She was always such a positive, stable presence throughout some very turbulent years. I could not help but think 'Thank God Merkel is there too.' Whenever I saw people like Putin and Trump at those meetings. It felt reassuring that there was at least one adult in the room..

First read about her in Ryan Holiday's book Ego is the Enemy. He wrote about the time Putin tried to scare Merkel with his dogs but she didn't make a big fuss of it because she's not egocentric. And now watching this, she's my favorite leader of 21st century❤

She is a great person, i absolutely adore her, she's the epitome of simplicity and professionalism. I listened to her commencement speech at Harvard (or some Ivy league college) it was awesome. But she grossly underestimated the Russian and Chinese threats and increased German export dependency on China and German energy import dependency on Russia. She was too naive to think that by having good trade relations with Russia and China she could tame them.

I shall miss her. I may not agree with her on some issues and she has made a few mistakes but she has been an outstanding example of stability, hard work, and unflashy decency.
