A council house next door to my daughter as been empty for 6 months and 1 across the road for over 12 months. I know family's who have been on the waiting list for years, what's going on.
I was born here and my wife is here on spouse visa. She has no access to public funds. Ive had to prove i can support her and have been doing so for 5 years. We arent entitled to anything other than child support for our son. Why do they give these migrants everything and nothing to us? Ive paid taxes and NI since i started working at 16.

That's the sole purpose, same as the pensioner's fuel allowance, immigrants in social housing / private sector do not have to pay utility costs. Here is some of what a migrant family does not have to pay Rent Income tax National Insurance contributions Electric or gas bills Water bills Council tax Mobile phone bills Public transport tickets Prescription costs Dental care And they are not required to have made any contribution to the state for anything whatsoever

56, work full time in a call centre, disabled, landlord is selling and I have to move. Rents are unaffordable. I’ve been looking for months. Despite a full time job, my wage is low so I don’t pass the affordability check imposed by real estate agents. Some 1 bedroom flats have £35k wage to apply. Others £41k for a 2 bedroom is what you must earn to apply. I have weeks left where I am and nobody will help me. Council and Housing Associations say they have nothing to offer as there are too many people waiting on the list. I’m headed for the streets, but these new arrivals are just ok.
Its terrible that ur in that position. My parents are in a similar position as u and are about to have a mental breakdown. Stay strong and keep it together as long as u can as I can't imagine this will be allowed to go on for much longer.
