@@GplusGains so did my daughter, she would throw her brother's ninja turtles action figures infront of her when she saw the first 2 episodes, she stopped once she hit her mother in the arm by accident.🤣
Damn... These are actually really good fight scenes. I like dbz and all but with dbz and a lot of other anime it was more about how of every character was, the transformations, and the flashy finishers than anything else. Which again is great and all but it's always nice to see an anime where the fight itself and the tension from said fight is the primary focus and everything else is either a nice aesthetical bonus or after thoughts in the background. The soundtrack is also really good. Definitely going to check this out. It looks awesome.
Honestly? With the current popularity of making remakes or continuing old anime shows. . .I kinda think this anime will get a remake at some point, or a season 2.
@@GeorgeMonet The anime has its flaws a too many logic errors to even track haha, but it was dope AF and the animation is so good, I would hate if they turn it into some mediocre CGI, because I don't think a big house will remake it.
The things that didnt sit well with me on this anime despite it being my 2nd favorite anime is : 1. Unfair advantages of other dolls and the fact that they are not given their own division to compete with other advanced dolls 2. Her MOther's Doll was so scuffed from the get go she should honestly not be apart of the arena. It's too god tier 3. Hikaru didn't have her own moves and it felt lame that she would only ever use Suzuka's move to win games 4. Her special 'wings' came in too late for the series that it felt too pretentious to me as since it was the last episode we will never see it again. 5. This needs a sequel to see the improvement of Hikaru with her"wings" that I still do not like for her. She should've had some other nuance. Its a pretty harsh opnion but honestly I love this anime, that I cannot blow over the bs it came up with. Als o the story of the mother and the main girl is like kinda dumb. SO she did not see her daughter for ages so she can play with dolls situation is.. weird. Anyway I was invested in the anime because it had good fight choreography and the design that went to each and everyone of the dolls are for the time it was in was pretty impressive. If there ever was a chance of a reboot, or a sequel I would definitely love to see it
YEAH HER MOM ALWAYS BOTHERED ME. Like. You neglected your wholeass daughter to the point she doesn't even recognize you??? To fight in tournaments that you'll just feel bored in because nobody can even defeat you anymore??? Hello???
@@yukis.763 tbf Japan views on family values are much different than those from the west, at least shuuko did had a legit job as a test subject / beta tester for the company that created the angelic layer concept, whose goal was research for developing advanced prosthetics. Ive seen many anime parents leave their childs for more "trivial" reasons than this.
I loved the anime, but If I remember well the premise was that the better sync the player have with the dolls, the doll will fight better, this is why the top dogs were people who had so good sync with their dolls that these get unique skills (no excuse for why some even have weapons but whatever), in a way it is like Medabots, makes sense that so many different bots (some being literal tank or extremely well armed) can compete with much humble ones in the same leagues without any limitation of actual rules... Nope... but it looks dope AF!!!
@Kev Walthalldude What I mean is the Scientist not the Author. you do know Angelic Layers is Connected to Chobits Chobits is the Far Future of Angelic Layers
I just find it strange that some of these dolls look younger or older despite all of them have the same base. Must be the customization process =w= As for the unfair advantage, personally i think those with weapons are unfair. Like that whip girl Hikaru fought back then. She should be disqualified ^^;
the wings of athena and hikaru was a manifestation of an s class doll..meaning, every doll can have that but it can only be achieved when youre already a very good player.. hikaru fought one time against a doll with small wings but it can only glide.. a doll is customizable.. you can choose its skill but you cant make all of the stats high, meaning you can make it quick but its total defense is compromise
Weapons are actually illegal in the game as for the advantages some of them have idk if it's defective then there should have been a recall and playing with that kind of doll should also have been forbidden. I dont remember the reason in canon why Blanche could get away with it
Misaki's voice acting is so much better in English. I love the fights, and I love to come and watch them as art references, but gosh, I have to mute it on the Japanese dub.
The most realistic thing in this anime is that the sport is mostly only girls. You'd think boys would be all over a sport involving making dolls fist fight each other.
Y'all talking about the enemy having unfair advantages But remember Hikaru best every single one and showed you don't need uneeded buffs to win and showed them shame- Also i wouldn't be surprised in the near future if there was something like this tbh

Nope... but does it look dope AF? Hell yes!!! And thats all that teenager me needed, and in this way Medabots and Angelic Layers deliver plenty being cool for the sake of being cool AF.
If Buranshe has a special damage mode from being a first run unit then so should Hikaru's mom's doll Athena. It isn't clear why this wasn't patched out as it is a software bug and why contestants weren't required to install such a patch. Nor was it made clear why Buranshe didn't fight seriously from the start. Trying to rely on a bug cost her the victory and should have cost her the victory in other matches too. For that matter I hate the bs of "my character jumped out of harm's way at the last thing in a totally imperceptible impossible way". No you didn't. You cannot jump back faster than someone could punch you. You cannot have amazing ultra instincts beyond that of any other human. And what about the animations where a circular swing passes through the doll? There is no way those are magically dodged. And this is another case of "man has very highly profitable very useful invention that no corporation is willing to pay a couple hundred thousand dollars to research and patent" trope. At least it is better than the "corporation abandons highly profitable technology because of a single hiccup or mistake made during a single test" trope.

Yes, Angelic Layer is a game with 'battle dolls'. The dolls- or 'angels' are controlled by the player- 'duce' (I think my spelling is off here, sorry). This manga/anime series follows Misaki Suzahara (I butchered her last name, sorry!) through fighting multiple players to eventually reach Athena, the champion of Angelic Layer. Angels are essentially bought at a toy store and can be configured with certain attributes. The duces control the angels via their brain waves, from what I understand. The Angelic Fight lasts until either an angel runs out of health, or is thrown from the Layer ('Layer Out!'). The Layer is the special battlefield where the angels can move freely. This is the first manga and anime I had when I was a kid, and I highly recommend it. Unlike today's manga/animes, there isn't any nudity*, swearing, or indecent** things. *In the manga and anime, there is a bath scene where Hikaru is activated, but both her and Misaki are reasonably censored. Hikaru also needs to wait for Misaki to make her clothing, but again, I feel this is reasonably censored. Edit: Just started watching the series again, and when Hikaru is built, she is technically naked; but there's no defined nudity- she's a doll, after all. Sorry I forgot that part! ** There are two separate instances where Wizard's duce makes a comment on Misaki's underwear, but this scene and brief and Misaki gets totally embarrassed. The manga series is 5 books, maybe 6, but has wonderful art. I belive the anime has... at least 20 episodes, and diverts from the manga quite a bit. I heartily encourage all to watch this series; I feel it is beautifully written and wish it got more attention. Also, if you like this series, you may also like the manga +Anima***. Yup, there is a plus sign in its name. This story follows a group of children who have abilities of a designated animal. Another beautifully written series that makes this concept its own! *** There is some censored nudity in an 'artistic manner', but the manga is not plagued with it. One or two pages tops up to volume 12 (I still gotta finish the series, lol). Hope you find the above helpful :)
Shuko (Misaki’s mom) mom gets to fulfill what every parent dreams of doing,beating up their child. 😜 I jest, but if you think about it, this would be a great stress reliever and something everyone in the family, regardless of skill or knowledge could do.
