There are special performances, exceptional ones, and then once-in-a-lifetime ones, and this is the latter, this is beyond flawless, and how amazing that a 17-year-old can have such an orchestra behind her a true testament to the Almighty talent she has! Lovely reaction.

This classic song from the movie "Unchained" about a prisoner in jail longing for their loved ones is perfect for Narges Mohammadi's Nobel Peace Prize for working on women's rights & democracy in Iran, where she has been in jail for many years, while her 17 yo twins (boy & a girl) are in exile in France. It's even more appropriate since Angelina's maternal grandma, Mery Zamani, is Iranian. Btw, the song was also in the movie "Ghost" many years later, as you said. This is stunningly gorgeous as is Angelina. Great reaction D! Btw. Angelina is the only singer in the long history of this prestigious event to perform more than once, at 8 & now at 17.

This video is a masterpiece that I have watched more than 50 times. Every time I hear the orchestra begin, I feel a surge of emotion because I know what is coming: the most amazing rendition of Unchained Melody by the incomparable Angelina Jordan. Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023 Some ask why Angelina Jordan would pick Unchained Melody for this event, Narges Mohammadi, the Iranian human rights activist who received the prestigious award remains incarcerated today in Iran. One of the most popular and enduring love songs of all time, Unchained Melody, has a surprising origin. It was composed for a 1955 film called Unchained, which tells the story of a man who is incarcerated for a crime he did not commit. He yearns to be free and reunite with his wife and children, who are waiting for him outside. The song captures his emotions of loneliness, hope and longing, and has been covered by many artists over the years, but none in my lifetime of 76 years have conveyed such emotion as Angelina Jordan did at this performance. © Larry D. Can,t stop watching Angelina is SPELLBINDING in this performance Who KORK have played for her before but this Angelina,s own arrangement they were superb.heavanly have to give the Norweigh Orchestra praise too As for Angelina and her grandma Mery barn in Iran was the absolute best present Angelina could give her too after all her guidene.don,t forget Narges Mohammadi Who Truls deserved this award.Listening to her children talking how they haven,t seen her for a long time and not knoting when if ever again a absolute tribune.Angelina gave her all and all of us living in Norway watching her for 10yrs live and on television makes me so proud beeing british living here so different but I feel she has made Norway beyond proud like a real treasure❤❤❤❤

This was one of Angelina's most memorable performances in my opinion. Angelina inspires me to do what I can to help make the world a better place, so I am asking my fellow angels to spread the story of Narges Mohammadi. Narges, is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two twin children, who are 17, spoke on her behalf at this event. The more people who are aware and call for change, the more likely the leaders of Iran will set her free. Acts of kindness, is what Angelina always reminds us to do. We angels, need to honor Angelina by doing what we can to be kind to others. The smallest acts of kindness can make a difference.

Yes, there is a reason why she is called the girl with 1000 voices, she brings such depth and emotion to this song that it takes your breath away. I don't think you can sing this song better than Angelina and she is so beautiful she looks like a Greek goddess

No vocal limits on this girl...😂😂. Angelina is creative as well: she is able to give every song she takes on her own signature with the ultimate respect for the orginal (often by slowing it down to a point that a lot of singers would have problems to sing it properly). And the chemistry between the KORK orchestra and Angelina has always been there: they have preformed together a few times in the past (videos are on RU-vid) and it was always amazing.

Beautiful reaction, thank you D, her ability to move those who listen to her is absolutely incredible. What a fascinating and intimate interpretation! I was moved to see and hear Angelina singing in such an incredibly mature and charming way, this wonderful version of a fantastic song and so appropriate to the occasion, 8 years after the last time, in the same studios and with some of the musicians who accompanied her as a child, when she took her first steps into her musical future. Here Angelina was simply fantastic and "unchained", a singer who has already sung on 2 different occasions at the Nobel Prizes and at just 17 years old, her ability to move those who listen to her is incredible. 💛🧡❤

This is the second time Angelina (17) has performed for the Nobel Peace Prize recipients, the first being at the age of 10. In that outdoor concert she sang "What a Wonderful World." It's suggested that she picked up a cold after that event, singing in bare feet in December. Nothing can/will hold back Angelina.

Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023 (the charity work of Angelina Jordan is only one of the many things that makes her so special.) Angelina Jordan's historical journey is captivating, as she showcases her talent at the age of17 with a voice that transcends time and space, Angelina Jordan mesmerized the world with her rendition of "Unchained Melody" at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in 2023. Accompanied by the KORK orchestra, the 17-year-old singer paid tribute to Narges Mohammadi, the Iranian human rights activist who received the prestigious award, and remains incarcerated today in Iran. Angelina Jordan's performance was a testament to her artistic maturity and versatility, as well as a promise of more musical wonders to come. © Larry D. Pifer

Am I the only one who noticed that she omitted part of the second verse? She flew half way around the world and they didn’t give her enough time to sing the complete song. This is so beautiful I actually feel cheated I didn’t get to hear her sing the whole song. This goddess deserves more than that, unless it was her decision to sing the abridged version, which I sincerely doubt.

I thought "Unchained Melody" was a odd choice for this event, but have since learned the history of the song. More on that later. Certainly Angelina was thrilled to be performing back in her home country of Norway, where she is a national treasure, but this performance goes way beyond that honor. She first performed at the Save the Children event at the 2014 Peace Prize event, when she was 8 years old. Narges Mohammadi was this years' recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Narges, is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two children spoke on her behalf at this event. Most of the performers were Iranian. We know Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamani, grew up in Iran and was a prodigy for painting and poetry. We can imagine the conversations Mery had with Angelina about Narges. This performance had to be extremely meaningful to Angelina and her family. I hope all the angels will spread the story of Narges and her mission, with the hope for change. In 1954, Alex North was contracted to compose the score for the prison film Unchained (released in 1955). North had a melody he had written in the 1930s and composed and recorded the score when he was asked to write a song based upon the movie's theme. North asked Hy Zaret to write the lyrics. After first refusing, Zaret and North together wrote "Unchained Melody. Zaret refused the producer's request to include the word "unchained" in his lyrics. The song eventually became known as the "Unchained Melody" even though the song does not actually include the word "unchained". Instead, Zaret chose to focus on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time". The film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or completing his sentence and returning to his wife and family. So indeed this song fits along with Narges being in prison and her two children, and the rest of the people who embrace freedom, calling for her release.

!Thank you for a great reaction! AJ’s choice of melody was not accidential, I don’t think so! Wikipedia: Unchained Melody is a song written by Alex North (music) and Hy Zaret (lyrics), and it was first released in 1955 as the soundtrack and theme song for the film Unchained, hence the name. The film is about an inmate in a prison who is in the dilemma of whether he should escape or serve out his sentence so that he can be reunited with his loved one. And…her grandma is an iranien woman!

Beautiful reaction, D ! Thanks for the new stint of performances by her on your channel, I had been hoping for SO long that it would happen 🙂 Seeing how you reacted to this performance makes me so incredibly happy. It mirrors the way every one I have ever seen hearing it reacts as well. And THAT, if nothing else, tells me (again) the power she has as an artist. She has the ability to grasp your attention right from the get go, and you'll be entranced until she lets you go again. VERY few artists today have this ability, at least that I have seen and/or heard. I'm not saying that they don't exist obviously, just that Angelina is extremely rare. This year's Nobel Peace Prize went to Narges Mohammadi, an Iranian women's rights activist, who has been jailed in Iran for MANY years, and she hasn't seen her family since she was imprisoned. Her son and daughter came to Norway to receive the prize on her behalf. Angelina's grandmother was born and raised in Iran, and so I guess this invite meant a LOT for Angelina, as her grandmother is Angelina's biggest source of inspiration, and it was she who introduced Angelina to jazz when she was just a few years old. The song she performed is "Unchained Melody", and if you know the story behind the song and what the lyrics is about, you will understand that the song was a beautiful choice for the occasion. Angelina is the only artist that has been performing twice on a Nobel Peace Prize event, she was also performing when she was 8 years old😉 Also keep in mind that the arrangement of the song was Angelina's own. She has always been arranging her own performances, at least from the age of 9. On this performance she is being accompanied by the Norwegian Radio Orchestra (KORK), an internationally highly acclaimed orchestra. On her socials we could see her thank the Nobel Committee and the orchestra in particular for entrusting her to do so😊 Thanks again, and have a great weekend! Much love and respect from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥
