Nice reaction! Not sure if you heard it, but in the beginning of the song, you hear a young lady cheer and shout, "Let's Go!" That was Angelina's little sister Juliette. Man, this song is killer and Angelina's vocals on this is just crazy! First time I heard this it gave me chills and made me very excited. She ate this song up! FIRE!!! Before anyone tries to make a deal about this, yes, Angelina was wearing shoes at this particular venue. It's more than likely that she had to wear them due to the venue's own rules and/or safety concerns. This was a small stage with a lot of wires and things on the ground. After this performance, she and Toby went to The Other Songs Event at the London Palladium, and performed If I Were A Boy and she was bare feet on stage. When she had her one night only Las Vegas show at the Westgate Resort a few months ago, she stated to the audience that performing barefoot is a part of her identity now and that would not change. The song has two parts, first where she admits to bad behaviour and is almost apologetic, but she then later goes on to explain why she is like that with him. The song presents a passionate powerful woman who clearly wanted a genuine passionate relationship with this man that she clearly hoped would turn out her equal but instead she realises that he does not see her for who she really is at all. Instead he is worshipping an illusion of her created in his own head, and he twists and sugar coats everything she says and does to fit that unrealistic romantic illusion. The more he does that, the more she reacts by pushing him even harder, hoping to break his illusion of her so they can have a real relationship, which simply does not (and cannot) work and only makes her feel really bad about herself and her bad behaviour. The poor girl is struggling trying to get him to see the real girl she actually is, rather than the illusory non-existent sweet girl he thinks he loves, but all that is actually happening is he is getting more and more entrenched in his fantasy, making excuses for her and, instead of reacting, is pretending everything is fine. Until finally, she is starting to feel really bad about how the whole thing has led her to behave. In real life the guy in question would probably feel he had done everything he could to save the relationship, eventually will see himself as a victim and likely will feel sorry for himself. Unfortunately he would be unlikely to learn anything from this experience and is likely to do it again next time with the next girl he meets.

Those lyrics are wrong. She’s singing “I thought I told you I’m a messed up girl”. Go back and read her lips, it’s pretty obvious in the close up shot. Another place, the word should be words instead of world. A lot of fans think she’s singing this from the guy’s point of view, which makes no sense at all! Why would she write a song from a man’s perspective? These fans don’t think a girl like this fits their image of Jordan, she would never stand anyone up on a date so he must be the bad Valentine, even though it’s only a song. Some of her “angels “ are truly delusional in their expectations of this poor kid. Maybe if she keeps moving her music in this direction, she’ll get lucky and they’ll stop following her.
