Great reaction to a genius 10 tear old! A little fact, when the band and her had previously agreed on an arrangement how to perform, her Mamma told her you have to change the lyrics to be age appropriate. In 24 hours Angelina rewrote the lyrics and with last minute changes in the car on the way to this rehearsal the band didn't have to make any changes to their agreed arrangement. AJ's mom did not like the original lyrics, thinking they were too dark for young AJ to sing, so AJ wrote the revised lyrics in the car on the way to the studio. IMO, this is a love song to Amy from Angelina. When she says "I" she means herself, when she says 'you' she is referring to Amy. She sees Amy high with strangers, and she cries, etc. By the way, AJ is the one who speaks to the moon to reach those who have gone before her (think of her video of Million Miles and her Grampa seeing her from the moon). Rick she didn't just write the lyrics in the limo on the way to the recording. She said she had 1 day to re-write the lyrics. There is a video of her & her family on the way to the session with Angelina shuffling the pages of the lyrics, maybe putting some finishing touches on them, but even Angelina couldn't re-write these lyrics in the few minute ride to the recording session. Doing it in less than 24 hours is amazing enough!
Yes she began writing her own lyrics the day before. Still they were written in less than 24 hours. She mentions this in the song description on RU-vid. Pretty impressive for a 10 year old. I don’t think the issue with the original was necessarily the dark tone. I think it was more the sex and drug references. She also changed the lyrics of Rehab to “they tried to make me go to school”.
This is one of those performances that leaves you shaking your head, because she is the one who made this alternate lyrical version, so you must be in awe of her creativity if nothing else. This song was how I originally found Angelina, I would routinely search for Amy Winehouse acoustic versions of her songs, and I stumbled on this cover by Angelina, I also routinely search for Patsi Cline’s Crazy and again Angelina piped up, same with “I Put a Spell on You”, so I constantly kept running across Angelina, and I didn’t put 2 and 2 together until everyone started going crazy for her performance of Bohemian Rhapsody on AGT Champions, then I realized I was watching the same girl.

To reinforce the fact as to how strict mom was, always concerned with how her daughter would be perceived, Angelina did a rehearsal video of Amy's 'You Know I'm No Good', making it 'You Know I'm So Good'. NRK took Angelina and two of her school friends to a fun fair, she did all the rides, even that roller coaster that she was afraid of, as the ride reached the very top and quickly came down, she let out a long long high pitch belt, not the best vocal warm up. Then she and her friends were driven to the studio to record this, she was reading through her hand written lyrics, crumpled sheets of paper she had on the music stand. One day, well into the future, those sheets will be auctioned for charity, worth many thousands of dollars...
