For everyone who doesn't know yet: Not only did Angelina get the golden buzzer from judge Heidi Klum, but she also received huge praise from the remaining members of the legendary Queen. Queen were delighted with Angelina's arrengement and shared it on Twitter with the words "WOW, what a rendition" (three years later they repeated their praise on TT in March 27th 2023 with the words "absolutely killed it".) What was unfortunately not to be seen here, all four judges came on stage to congratulate Angelina (very rarely). 👣💯 *AJ* 💯👣 BTW, Angelina released her version of Bohemian Rhapsody with permission from Queen on January 24th, 2020 under her own label ANGELINA JORDAN INC. shortly after Angelina celebrated her 14th birthday. Her vocal magnificence and her artistic genius aside, her poise and confidence performing on a stage to such a vast audience in person and to viewers around the world at 13 years old, a beginning of the performance with lyrics from the middle of the song because she interpreted they must be highlighted, to start off singing this classic a cappella, singing barefoot and wearing an outfit created by her grandma (with Angelina's aid) helped complete an entire performance episode which didn't need much more to qualify this as one of greatest 'covers' (actually her version is her song!) I have ever heard. How lasting is listening to this performance? Every angel gets emotional each time they hear it and most of us have heard it 'more than a few times', that's for sure.

I would just add that Angelina always changes the words or restructures a song to be age appropriate! On Back to Black she had to write her own lyrics to the song! So on Bohemian Rhapsody she is not going to be singing about shooting her self!

It is amazing how consistently Angelina does "covers" but she always seems to make them her own. She is by far my favorite performer in her current age group these days with Diana Ankudinova a close second. Her humble manner is still a part of her today.
That's very true! She actually covers a song, doesn't merely sing it or if she does, like when she was younger, then it's uncanny how much like the original she sounds. It's never the middle ground with her.
@AleksReacts During the recent mini documentary 10 Years In The Making, recently put out by Angelina's mom, Angelina mentioned that she likes to make her own versions of songs she covers. And as you have pointed out Angelina was able to mimic the phrasing and style elements of some of the great singers of the past with astonishing accuracy at as early as 7 or 8 years of age. At this point in Angelina's development as a vocalist I believe she could start at the very end of this spectrum and work her way to the opposite end while filling every possible expressive quality along the way. I honestly believe that at this point Angelina has probably forgotten more about singing than a not small number of commercially successful singers have ever known. ❤😊
It’s not just that Angelina made this her own, but her arrangement and her vocal abilities brought out a different meaning to those lyrics we’ve heard hundreds of times. I know every note and nuance of this performance, and I still react physically and emotionally every time I hear it. Watch her next AGT performance of Elton John’s Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road. You’ll see something very similar. Angelina’s spectacular vocals are a given, but you’ll have a new understanding of the meaning of that song. Elton’s version was glam rock with the music predominating. Angelina, even at this age, is the best interpreter of lyrics I’ve ever heard-and, again, her vocals mesmerize the huge audience into silence. You made me listen to it again, but I can't quite grasp the different meaning. To be honest, I was never sure what Queen meant with this. Too many possible meanings and some disconnects (in my mind at least). Would you mind sharing your take? I'd really appreciate it. The one thing I very much understand is mesmerizing people into silence. In this particular reaction, my reaction seems even flat, as I just kept staring at her. Still, I didn't want to redo it, as I want these to stay authentic and real. Perhaps this one isn't as "fun" as most where my brain still works, but that was the real effect she had on me.
@@AleksReacts I’ll try to explain my own reaction. Angelina is obviously singing the same (partial) lyrics as Freddie, but I never really felt any sorrow or empathy with the Queen version. It’s a spectacular mixed presentation of music, voices, and rhythms-and I think of it as just that. It’s a wild and unexpected musical ride with Freddie’s amazing voice and arguably comic relief elements (Scaramouche, will you do the fandango?). For me, the storyline is secondary to the musical experience. With Angelina, always, you understand every word of the lyrics and feel their weight. The Queen version overwhelms my senses-in a good way. Angelina is the storyteller who has you wrapped up after those first plaintive lyrics, and you’re hooked til the finish to hear the end of the story and what she does with every line. Maybe I am not a good listener. I heard Elton’s hit version of Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road probably hundreds of times. I enjoyed it, but I never knew what it was about until I heard Angelina sing it.
Ah, that does explain a lot. I did empathize with Freddy when he sang it. Again, to this day I'm not 100% clear on the lyrics and even the comic relief you mentioned sometimes feel to me like it is in fact supposed to a bit funny, but also other times very serious in a cosmic sense of the battle for his soul. In conclusion, she didn't change the meaning for me, but her delivery was very different nevertheless. In my view mainly musically rather than the storytelling, in this particular case. On the other hand, what you're talking about I felt with If I Were a Boy. Maybe it's the way we both see/hear Freddy vs. Angelina vs. Beyoncé, so I do know what you mean now. Yes, she did receive the copyrights to her version of this song from Queen! It's not the whole song due to the fact this had to be adjusted for the time constraints of the show, but WOW!!! After The show, Queen posted on their Twitter account, "Wow, what a rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody!" Angelina actually has this post on her official website. When this aired on January 2020, it was the first time I have heard of her and have been on this crazy ride since! Love this young lady!

I'm happy to say that when it comes to Queen I was lucky to live alongside Freddy Mercury for a short while, so the original is what what I grew up on. You don't seem convinced by this interpretation of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Here, surprisingly, is a song proposed by a 13-year-old girl who gives us to hear in this absolute “hit” something other than the version created by Freddy Mercury and covered in his wake by hundreds of interpreters faithful to the original version. This is probably why the surviving musicians of Queen decided to cede the song's copyright to AJ for this version. AJ is indeed no mere performer. She has learned her trade by appropriating the music of today and yesteryear, making her own arrangements and composing (lyrics and music) from an early age. No one before her had had the ear to hear “Bohemian Rhapsody” any other way. It takes a rare ear. AJ is a rare bird.
You must be misreading my facial expressions and my comment at the end of the video. I've never listened to other covers of this song, as a big fan of the original. This one, however, I liked very much. Not sure what gave you the impression I didn't. Perhaps it was my focus on listening to her rather than thinking about how I look. In any case, let me dissuade you - I'm quite convinced. 🙂
After watching many reactors view this performance and then her other two on AGT, I noted how muted Angelina's demeanor became. In this performance she was hopeful and gratified by the judges' reactions. In the subsequent performance of Yellow Brick Road her demeanor was subdued and her facial expressions did not appear to be happy. In the end, it was revealed (by inference) that the contract that AGT offered was not in Angelina's best interest, and she was relegated to fifth place even after receiving the golden buzzer from Heidi Klum. Of course, in due course, Angelina signed with Republic Records and continues with that pact today. The AGT experience still worked in Angelina's favor, and the exposure to the American audience by way of Queen's classic pushed Angelina into a spotlight which has not dimmed. With her current career track, fueled by an amazing and unique voice and emotional delivery, there is no ceiling to her achievements in music. And what is more, her morality, humanity, and humility are an inspiration to anyone who takes the time to listen to her. I am a fan for life...
The only thing most artists that are worth their salt really get from these shows is exposure. Anything that big is simply a different form of corporation - nothing is in the "employee's" interest. However, she certainly left an impact with this one! Good for her to refuse a contract that isn't in her favor! ❤❤❤
philip In the end, Uncle Mike negotiated a favorable contract with AGT that relieved Angelina of any obligations should she perform. This had nothing to do with how she placed in the competition....As for her subdued demeanour, it was at this time that Angelina learned that her beloved grandfather was in the hospital, in pain and close to death.

Astar says that it didn’t matter if you get exposure or not, it was out of question to give away that right. “Some time passed and they again contacted me, asking if she wanted to sing on their show. I convinced them to give me a contract where Angelina is free from any deal if she performs...."......Those "other comments" you read are from the conspiracy theorists who refuse to accept that Angelina didn't win the show.

She was over 3 moths shy of her birthday. This was recorded late Sept. early Oct. 2019. So was the finals.. It was aired the year after as the 2020 season.

Hello and welcome to September, aka my favorite time of year. I'm not sure how you take recommendations and if this is not correct feel free to disregard. I'm a fan of Leonard Cohens writing and songs. His writing is a bit cryptic and I would like your reaction to one of my fav performances. Leonard Cohen live in London performing Tower of Song. This is later in his life but I think it adds something. Btw Aurora does a very good rendition of his song Famous Blue Raincoat at a tribute concert after his death.

My favorite month used to be July, but considering the weather these days, I'm totally unsure nowadays.😂 Let's hope September resembles spring/summer this year and makes it my favorite too, at least for the year. Personally, I heard a couple of Leonard Cohen's songs, but can't say he's my cup of tea most of the time. Sometimes, his song fits me just right, other times not at all. Guess I'm ambivalent. Then again, I've never really heard more than two or three of his songs... As for recommendations, while it's still possible, I actually read all the comments and write down all the suggestions that show up (like yours just did). Does that mean that I will cover them all, probably not. On the other hand, this now rather long list really helps me as I usually choose a song from the list and rarely go off list and dig something up myself. Nothing is really planned, I just go by my mood. Also, the list now contains 900+ suggestions (duplicates included), so it's becoming a lottery for me as well, as I only have time for 3 reactions per week.

Freddie Mercury had AIDS and was going to die. Angelina boiled the song down to the raw emotion of facing his death. At 13 she has the ability to do amazing original arrangements of songs. She is so incredible.
When Bohemian Rhapsody was recorded Freddie did not have AIDS. It was only 1975, and he was diagnosed with AIDS in 1987 (officially). Symptoms seemingly existed since 1982. The song in which he said his goodbye to the world was "These Are The Days Of Our Lives". He said it the loudest in a whisper of "I still love you" at the very end of that song which resonated around the world. Personally, I do not believe Angelina's performance of Bohemian Rhapsody was focused on his death. Then again, I may be wrong. AJ would know best. Regardless of all of the above, her arrangement of this song is indeed amazing.
