When it comes to heartfelt ballads, Angelina's jazz-inspired passion just reaches deeper into the human soul than any non-jazz singer can match. Adele is great, and can bring forth an abundance of feeling, but for reasons that are hard to explain, they don't penetrate the furthest depths of the human soul in the way that Angelina's do. In ballads like this from Angelina I hear nuance and inflections that great jazz icons were famous for, they being Billie Holiday (old style jazz) and Amy Winehouse, the most uniquely different jazz singer of all time.

The song is very beautiful and emotionally very personal to Adele, but I loved Angelina's ability, at her age, to be able to immerse herself so deeply into the soul of the song, with her usual naturalness and her unique and fascinating way of give it to us. As I loved also the way she wanted to reassure us about her grandmother's health, she did it with infinite delicacy and sweetness, their heads side by side almost counterbalancing the detachment that Adele writes about in the song. Her voice is truly enchanting and her ability to vary pitch, power and tempo so smoothly and elegantly during her performance is absolutely unique. She is unique, practically impossible to describe, but wonderful, always. 💛 🧡 ❤️
