The introduction starts in the middle of a sentence, but I did see this live back then and believe I can remember, it is her cousin on the guitar. Here is what they said in the introduction. He: "...(...) the ten-year-old's cousin. Fortunately, she came to visit us before leaving for the USA." She: "And we're getting goosebumps because we've listened to the soundcheck. This is one of my favorite Angelina Jordan songs even though I wasn't familiar with this song at all before I heard Angelina sing it. It sounds so perfect and beautiful.
Angelina can pretty much sing anything. She never rushes, doesn't fret for an instant having her vocals very exposed, uses the spaces between notes to maximum effect, and as you said, embeds in nearly every syllable a portion of the message she is conveying. Stellar!

This is 10 yo Angelina singing on the roof of the TV 2 studio on a Morning Talk Show in Oslo. She & her family flew to the US later that day for an extended tour. Two years later they all moved to LA where she currently resides & goes to high school, although they return to Norway for visits.

It was aired live around 20.45 that evening (the host even says "have a nice evening"). The early hours of the next morning, around 06.00, they were on their plane for LA. I think one of AJs most impressive but often unmentioned talents is her natural ability to subtlety walk the lyrics outside the framework of the music without it sounding out of place. It is what made Frank Sinatra so good and she does it so naturally that it has to be an inherent gift. It is the reason that she has taken jazz standards and impressed so much and made them sound so uniquely hers. A lot of young people can sing these days but rarely can they make a song recorded by hundreds of artists before them sound like it was written for just them.

This particular song was recorded in her home town of Oslo, Norway. The intro translated was 'The world lays ahead for this ten year old feet, thankfully she came to us before leaving for her trip to the US' 'We are expecting goose bumps, because we have listened to the practice, enjoy this and enjoy this Monday night' - I am trying to identify the building with the clock on it, but coming up short (which is shameful, having given this is my home town, even if I haven't lived there for a few decades). Haha....that must be something of a bummer saying that you don't know the buildings in picture when you are from Oslo. Those building are so to say defining the centre of Oslo. They are standing on the rooftop of TV 2 head office (at that time) in the main street Karl Johan. Behind you can see Oslo's main church the Oslo Cathedral (Oslo Domkirke) standing at Stortorget. The church was ready build in 1697 so you should have had some possibilities to notice it. The tower was however added first later in the 1800 hundreds sometime .....so that might have confused you. The other two tall buildings is Oslo Plaza hotel (from 1989) and then to the right Post(giro)bygget (from 1975). That must be like being from Paris and can not identify the Eiffel tower....
Well, Domkirka was going to be my guess, but never having seen it from the top of a roof before, nor being able to remember if it had a clock tower made me not want to make a guess and be wrong. And if you are going to compare the Eiffel tower to a building in Oslo, I'd say the town hall Is much more visually easy to identify from any angle than Domkirka.

This recording is probably from a roof in Oslo (Norwegian Television), as the presenter said they got a short visit just before Angelina traveled to the US. So in that context, this song gets a deeper meaning.

Yes, that IS the best version of that song ever recorded. That's how you sing a song. I learn something different every time I hear it. This time is was the subtle build-up on the line "There's no love-song finer" and the slightly retracted inflection (if that's a term) on that word "finer" that seems to be one of Angelina's trademarks.

Great and lovely reactions from you always, love them. You said you have been struck some times and i think doing Dimash and Diana you need pause every less than 23 seconds(maybe 20 is limit) to do correct by Copyright. For Aurora might be same. When it come to Angelina it is a bit different. Agt and all she have done by Republic records is copyrighted and need pause every 20 second and then you talk/ stop video by changing to a picture for some seconds 3-4. Tv 2 norway like the one you do now are sometimes hit if you dont pause enaugh. When it comes to the videos from her channels you should be free to se all without break, because i think she want this comercial for her. I never heard her channel strike for copyright yet. What that is good with Angelina for reactors is that it is multiple performances with her with 2 different guitarists which are kind of home made which will go through the RU-vid blocking, and the songs are masterpieces, Million Years Ago, Adele cover, Stay, Rihanna cover, California Dreamin, Mamas and Papas cover. The guitarist is Tommy Kristiansen, you can see he is feeling the song, and I am pretty sure Angelina had a deciding hand in what chords to play, how, and when. She was seen at NGT two years earlier doing this with the guitar arrangement for Bang Bang. Pentatonix are unbelievably good, but not quite the same after their bass, Avi Kaplan went off to go solo, his range has to be heard to be believed. There are two other a Capella groups with bass singers on his level, try Home Free (Do You Hear What I Hear) and Voiceplay (The Night Before Christmas). Almost a farewell song as Angelina prepared to head to LA. Great job Chris and please do not stop now. Love your very humble remarks at beginning of this reaction as well. Hey Larry/Chris Guy, this is one of the top songs on my "#1 all time favorite AJ song list", which embarrassingly consists of 49 songs and growing. Besides her amazing vocal skills, her complete calmness while performing is so evident here, while at the age of 10 and being filmed by a top Oslo TV network. I just love the smile that comes across her face when she sings the line "when you're near". I totally agree....this song has never be done better.
She is 10. I think she did this a few days before leaving to move to Los Angeles. I've read this was saying goodbye to her homeland to follow her dream.

Her version is also my favorite. The song was made famous in 1956 by Ella Fitzgerald (Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Cole Porter Songbook), and Ella's version is wonderful. But Angelina's, at the ripe of age of 10, is Perfection!! I never tire of hearing her perform this (>200 times). Two hours after this performance, she was on a plane headed to the USA. Pentatonix are amazing too. They have many beautiful ones. Sound of Silence, Hallelujah, Imagine are all awesome. If you want an upbeat one, you really need to do the Daft Punk medley. That is a really fantastic music video too. It’s made in one of the members’ apartment (Avi, I think) and cost them around $300-400. That video also won them a Grammy. Something to also know about this group. They never layer their voices in studio. They want to be able to do the same performance in concert. The beatboxer (Kevin) is world class. He’s able to beatbox while player chelo, which is how the group found him. They saw him do that in a RU-vid video. At the time, Kevin was doing Pre Med, which he gave up to join the group. Original cast of the group is Scott (tall, blond guy), Mitch (dark hair, wide range voice, also soprano), Kirsten (only female singer), Avi (beard, dark long hair, bass singer) and Kevin (beatboxer, also sings in some songs, plays chelo occasionally). After a while Avi had to leave the group for personal reasons, and was replaced by Matt.
