I commented elsewhere that in this song, Angelina sings with enough vocal fry to cook your breakfast! Her vocal fry gives me chills and thrills for sure. I have listened to the older versions and she pays homage to the style, too. Some have commented that she was just experimenting with her voice, and if this is so, just keep it up, please, Angelina! Her voice just sends ripples of pleasure through my brain...gawd almighty!!!

Wow! Thank you for this. I've been following her development for a couple of years but I hadn't heard this one before this. The expressiveness of her voice and the emotion she conveys is just spellbinding.
This is my favorite of her recent releases. I love how she holds nothing back. That vocal fry is so strong that it may turn some people off, but for me it just shows what a fearless singer she is. She's gonna do it the way she feels it... and she was really feelin' this one.
Rusty, I totally agree, my first reaction was, Holy mother of God, what did I just hear? This girl is the whole package, from home life ,to charities ,to sharing her gift with all of us. I am grateful to her.
Totally agree. The diversity of techniques she's mastered at such a young age is amazing to me. But the consistent theme is her ability to convey emotion. Few singers can bring me to tears. She does.
@@jangunnarrooth I have listened to a lot of singers over my many years (A LOT), and I don't know if any vocalist has ever been able to reach out and touch me like Angelina Jordan does....over and over. I still have trouble believing that someone so young is good enough to do that.
Some said she a little bit over do this one. I don't think so... It was a total display of one of her insane vocals. And it was amazing hearing Angelina going full throttle to a song.

You said it, she just "took us to church." I responded to another reaction with this below... I hadn't heard anybody talk about "taking us to church" for a long time... Liked, subscibed, and commented..! "I know I'm late to the party and I generally don't comment on You Tube videos, but I have to here because you get it! See, I thought I'd heard Angelina sing, I mean... l stumbled first into Bohemian Rhapsody, and I was amazed. Then it was I Put Spell on You, and I was stunned. I went back to when she was 8 and it was just her and a guitar singing Fly Me to the Moon, and knew the kind of talent I was encountering. She even took on the Holy Grail of female vocals at 11, I Will Always Love You, once again just her and a guitar, one take, chills.. so I thought I'd heard her sing... I was not prepared for this performance... I grew up in Atlanta in the 60's and 70's and there was an expression for what Angelina does to me and apparently other people as well. I first heard it when I was 9 or 10. Me and a couple of my friends were in front of Peaches Records on Peachtree St. waiting for our ride and the speakers out front had just started playing The Allman Brothers Not My Cross to Bear. There was an older gentleman, late 40's/50's walking by, who just stopped dead. When the song was over., he just shook his head and said "Those boys just took us to church!" I thought Angelina had taken me to church before... But nothing like this... This girl is next world... She is the truth... Liked, subscribed, and now commented..."

I love the way she tries new things. This "vocal fry" voice is yet another one for the "Angel of 1000 Voices." I just hope I'm still around to hear the 1,000th one. I worry that using this voice too much could hurt her vocal chords, but I'll leave that to her voice coach.
Vocal coaches should keep away from her rasp's and frye's they can do more harm to her uniqueness than anything and you can hear on later songs how they have nibbled on her heels but there is no need as she always does it in healthy way always did use the false cords in right way

The vocal fry caught me off guard but I enjoyed the performance. So good. I love that she experiments with that amazing voice and it is so perfect for these vintage songs.

They are aware of her but they still work hard to fix up their telescop, to adjust the focus.They need to have a clear picture of her. It's something new for them. Why are all and only your reactions to Angelina from when she was 12yo? She has been singing publicly from age 7 to now at 17yo. Although impressive every year along the way, her voice has developed continuously.

Too much vocal fry. I also don’t care for the small voice, too many today use it. This girls voice does not impress me at all. I couldn’t listen for too long before I shut it down.
This is just one of Angelina's voices and only one of the genres she covers.. She has many others and can adopt her voice to suit the genre of the song.. If you take the time to listen you will often be surprised but never disappointed,.
This young girl (only 13 here), is constantly pushing the envelope. She is definitely not trying to be Amy Winehouse. Amy (and I say this as a huge fan of Amy), was nowhere near where Angelina Jordan is heading. Angelina has a vocal versatility and a true understanding of what it really means to sing a song unlike any any vocalist I have ever heard. In a few years she will have left Amy way behind. Unless you have heard at least a few dozen of the over 100 songs she has sung in the last 6 years, then you can't possibly have a comprehension of the kind of special we are witnessing here. I can understand if you don't like this particular performance. It's not for everyone.... you have to have a deeper understanding of music to get what she did on this one ;)
