Etta James was a Big Influence on Anjelina when she was a very young girl...as were All the Great Jazz and Blues musicians from the Etta James Era. She absolutely Loved them all and you can hear all the Greats influence in Her singing today! She does a Lot of interpretation of New Songs in the "Old" styles as well!

Appreciate your reactions. Angelina is a generational voice. Couple that with her being an amazing human and it makes for an incredible experience. She's known as a one take. Meaning, she nails her performances with no breaks or cuts. This vid: It looks like she grabbed a shirt out of her dresser. Little or no makeup. There's a thermostat on the wall in the frame. Zero manipulation. Just a young, extraordinary girl, singing a classic with as much soul as the original. Stunning. My favorite vocalist.

And may I add if you look closely you'll see the manufacturers logo on the base of rhe mic, right above her hand, I think it's orange. That side is supposed to be facing her, she sang that masterpiece into the back of the microphone

@@vivi.laserra very similar singers. Loads of skills, especially Angelina, but more about the artistry, the use of them. The runs and riffs seem less like flexes and more like beautiful art. Just right. Very talented artists. Beautiful voices. I dislike the mashup, the backing track of low audio quality in IRGB doesn't fit well with the studio quality backing in TW. But it's the best one can do for that mashup I guess.

Sebs, just think of this: Angelina is a few inches taller now (at least 6 ft tall) than she was when she sang this at age 12. That means her lung capacity has grown proportionately. She reminds me of the free divers who can dive incredible depths w/o any breathing apparatus of any kind. 😱 Oh, and she was seated -- singers are taught to stand when belting for better use of the whole body.
For the exact same reason (being seated) I am amazed at Angelina singing to Jonathan “Sugarfoot” Moffett “I Have Nothing” (in the Republic Records studio). In the past six months we have been blessed with FIVE versions of this song, but Angelina’s casual delivery of this version to Michael Jackson’s drummer, while sitting in a lotus position at the edge of the stage is truly impressive. ❤️
Free diver was my first thought also however, she’s only 5” 4. She’s someone you’d expect to have been trained diaphragmatic breathing, giving support to a chamber of air capable of singing these insane runs so effortlessly. Yeah it's just a tiny breath before, and after the 16 seconds. With real power and long runs around it too. It is somewhat possible to sing while inhaling in some fashion. I can't pick it out here, but maybe she snuck a bit of breath in there somewhere.

How old was she in that? Angelina was 12 here got the mic for her birthday and what an investment. Here is Angelina, just sitting, sitting on the couch singing into the mic backwards, purposely or not and belting out the best rendition I have ever heard. I was instantly transported back to 1968 when I was 13. That was at the very height of Motown probably my favorite period in music. That music was magical. Angelina could have been born in '56 and she would have been one of best Motown Artists of the time in '68 and doing it at 12 yrs old. I can guarantee Angelina picked out that mic and again what a choice.

Imo this is ANGELINA experimenting with her vocals aged 12 with a new microphone for her birthday I stand to be corrected but I believe this was taken down from you tube soon after posting . obviously it's a good performance fans love it , but I do prefer her lower register for eg " born to die " .

Yeah. Angelina killed this one (while sitting on the couch..imagine if she stood up and leaned into it a little!)!! I believe she often chooses iconic well-known tracks for two reasons. One is that she uses them to test herself, to see if she can add something of hers to what is already spectacular while staying respectful to the original. I am a Norwegian, and I have a son one year older then AJ (17), an a daughter that is one year younger. So if I could marry one of them to AJ, I would die I happy man. Ps. As a Christian you would love How great thou art, where you also get all of her darkest voice.
