No edits, no cuts, no second takes, just Angelina and a good mic. Anyone also singing this song will be looking for a chair when it ends to sit down and catch his or her breath. Not Angelina, she looks at the camera, smiles as if she is saying no big deal, another song another gem. Thank you for your reaction and keep up the good work.

Actually, this was not a single take. It's obvious in at least 4 different places. But to be fair, Whitney almost certainly didn't sing her original studio version in a single take, either.

@@DonaldLancon Very interesting. At what timepoints in this video did that happen? The video looked continuous until the text appeared towards the end. No obvious video-cut I would say. But the sound could definitely have been cut and synchronized. But I guess this is quite normal like you said, in studio at least...

I am convinced that AJA, "nomen omen", will be the soundtrack of humanity in the coming decades. Here it is like seeing a student compete in the 100 meters with Usain Bolt in top form and not getting that far. It seems that this exhibition was also aimed at those who said that he did not know how to go high. Angelina goes as high or low as she pleases, she goes from jaz to disco, from soul to country as she pleases. Artists of this caliber are born one in a century. We were lucky enough to see her evolve live, whoever comes after will study her at the conservatory.

She does a cover like no one else on the planet. She re-writes and/or re-arranges every song she sings to give it that "Angelina Touch". She knows the exact formula of how much she needs to "Angelina-ize" her voice, tone, inflection, emotion, persona and volume with different proportions to perfectly fit every song she sings! She has mastered the art of making her version of a song unique, yet showing complete respect for the Original.

Thank you for your honest analysis. I agree that in this performance she is not 100 % of what Whitney did when she was 29. But remembering that this is a tribute to Whitney and the fact that she is 12 years old and her strength is in the lower register, I find this performance to be quite remarkable. I agree with you that I would love to hear her perform this again in the future, and in the meantime I will just conclude that she is a world treasure who makes my day better every time I hear her sing.

Thank you for a very fair critique of Angelina's performance of this song. As others have commented, it has been suggested that she sang this in response to some comments that she was unable to "belt" a song or reach the higher notes. That she did both would have put such comments to rest. I appreciate the fact that you were not comparing Angelina to Whitney but just concentrating upon how you heard Angelina's performance. If all of the 503 Reactors who react to Angelina did this, instead of making false comparisons or trite remarks, I would be a much happier "geriatric" :-)

Angelina is one of the most addictive singers I have ever listened to, & one of the very few, that can pull you right into the song, making you feel, every word, every note, & every emotion. ❤️💙 I always have this feeling that Angelina is not only channeling some of these late great singers, but that they also pass through her, when she is singing their song ❤️💙 A rare beauty, in every sense of the word ❤️💙 Loved your reaction!!!

As we all sit back and contemplate what she will be like in a few short years we can only imagine, and I can't wait. Not wanting to berate other singers. Thank you for staying honest in your reactions. I find it absolutely remarkable that a 13 year old that is entirely herself but can sometimes remind me of Norah Jones, Amy Winehouse and Billie Holiday can do justice to this iconic Whitney Houston song. Those are all great artist, but one can hardly imagine any of them doing Whitney in the style of Whitney. Angelina Jordan’s range and versatility is astonishing, as is her emotional intelligence when she angelizes her covers and tributes. Here Angelina yet again shows what she CAN do, although for once it is not as effortless as almost all her other performances. Of course it isn’t! It a beast of a song, and as you tactfully hint to, Whitney herself struggled with it when she wasn’t at her very best. (PS: I see some commenters in this thread saying that Angelina was a little flat on some of the highest tones. I don’t have perfect pitch, but still to my musician’s ear that is not correct. She hits them highest of the high notes too - but not quite with her usual technique, superb breath support and rich tone. Which is entirely understandable!)

However (IMO) this is a fantastic interpretation in general, even for an adult, but practically impossible for a 12 year old girl, on a musical basis and without any mixing or replacement, alone in front of a microphone.Isn't only the voice is everything ... simplicity, control, vocal power, easiness, musical intelligence and the particular ability that involves you and captures you in her musical plot. 🤩 ❤️ If you think that this cover, Angelina seems to have made it as a tribute to Whitney, but also to answer those who said she was good, but she didn't have great high notes in her possibilities ... a magnificent answer 😎

To be honest, I absolutely love Angelina. But I feel she already did what she needed to do with this song and I don't care if she never sings it again. AJ is not this type of singer and I am SOO allright with that. I think it's good that she did this once to honor Whitney and show the doubters what she could do, but this song is so over the top that the vocal pyrotechnics always get in the way of the emotional communication. To me, the greatest thing about listening to Angelina sing a song isn't that it makes you think 'Listen to what she can do with her voice.' It's that she astounds you at what she can make you FEEL by singing the song.

I couldn't agree more. I'm Norwegian, as is Angelina, and I've been aware of her since she was 5. There are quite many singers out there with great voices, and there is no doubt that Angelina belongs to the top 1 % of singers, but when it comes to the way she communicates the songs, with her own take on them, she in a league of her own. I just can't imagine where she'll be as an artist in 10 years from now.

I too would like to hear Angelina revisit this song, if she wants to, when she is older and more mature. Whitney Houston herself was sometimes stretched to her limits performing this song live, and would tone it down for that very reason. I have heard some people criticize Angelina for not nailing this song 100%. To me, that is like criticizing Babe Ruth because he wasn't the world's greatest bunter.

The world is changing and the "superstars" are completely new quality than old extreme ones with drug and sex and other problems. I think that Angelina with her modest behaviour represents the New Golden Age. Even her name represents that...an angel. The REAL superstars will be something else than in the past. The future performances of this talented artist will go to those spheres that we have never heard before. I bet so. Angelina is definitely a pioneer of them.

Yes: lovely, effortless, beautifully, phenomenal, outstanding performed AND without falsetto (head) voice for higher notes, which is an "easy" way to circumvent the difficulty for those who are not capable to handle it with chest voice! 😎🥰 It's important to notice that "falsetto" is not acceptable for opera singers since in italian the meaning is the same as the word root: FALSE! You cannot sing true with head voice because you have no cords to modulate from head...
