The history of this song "I'm a Fool to Want You" goes back to the 50s. Co-composed by Mr. Frank Sinatra and recorded in 1951. Ms.Billie Holiday made it famous in 1958. This was the time Frank was in relationship with Ava Garner, the actress, It didn't go well. Not only is the intimacy leaning all the way into the mic, impressive...but her ability to bounce in to and out from performing and a kid looking to get Grandma's approval & happily enjoying recording her idol .. what a talented artist she is...genuine, committed, engrossed in every vocal ornament she adds...sigh..... Who could have imagined that one day a young girl from Norway, called Angelina Jordan Astar* (her full name), will show up on RU-vid and introduce the legend Billie Holiday to the young and the old generations with BH's iconic song. Simply the best singer I’ve ever heard. Angelina could do this at 11 years old, paying respect to Billie Holiday-her biggest influence. She is literally once in a lifetime.

You can hear many of the inventive elements that Billie Holiday brought to improvisational music in this song that Angelina emulates Billie in here. It is a great conglomeration of effects that no other singer ever applied to singing and which Angelina has adopted herself. It is why Angelina has said, 'There would be no Angelina Jordan today if not for Billie Holiday'.

Not the only culture that does flowers in hair, but Norway from where she comes from seems really big on them. Billy is a she not that it matters much in modern times. Your great too by the way.

I love these videos where you can still SEE the humble and playful kid in Angelina! I like how she can make faces to the camera between phrases, then look into the studio through the window with a straight face and IMMEDIATELY manifest her innate singing ability. It's kinda like she has a light switch inside that she can flip on and off at will! Simply amazing.

There is no one better then barefoot princess. Just so you know, Billie Holiday is one of her inspirations. Billie Holiday is a female. That is her grandma, which is the other inspiration in her life. Her grandmother molded her into what she is today. The barefoot, princess is one of a kind. She is absolutely an angel sent from heaven. I love your reactions. You will never go wrong listening to the barefoot princess.

Thank you for a great reaction yes that's her Granma she was 11 yrs old here and no it doesn't get any better , This is not only one of my all time favourite AJ performances but also one of my all time favourite vocals by anyone, Billie Holiday was a lady she is AJ's 'favourite artist and great inspiration especially when she was first discovering jazz, there have been many comments over the years about re-incarnation in regards to AJ being born like a jazz master or Billie come back .For me AJ's voice is more melodic and beautiful but even AJ said if it was not for Billie there wouldn't be the same AJ . Either way AJ is incredible and yes she is the sweetest thing the flowers are a Norwegian tradition in the summer.💗👣

Yes, norwegians love flowers as a great symbol of the blessing of summer. This hair-peace of Angelina though is rather spesial, and I love it, as it kind of suites the occasion, and it is more like an artistic peace, I`ll say. Quite a bit different from what Billie was wearing as she performed. Still I belive Angelina first and formost took inspiration from Billie (and possibly other artists from that part of the classic cathalog) as she started to put flowers in her hair during performances.

Netflix made a 3 season series called LILLYHAMMER about a New York Mobster who goes into witness protection in Norway. At the end of the last episode the main characters are sitting in a lounge having one last drink together and in the background 8 year old Angelina sings this song. She also chose this one for her acapella elimination round for the judges only on Norways Got Talent. I believe someone also did a mash up video of this song with her and Billie Holiday. They sing it almost identical.

AJ makes one feel her words and sounds. In the past we may have felt a similar sensation with maybe one song from an artist, but AJ encompasses the ability to conjure up this sensation with every performance. There is a synergy between her looks, sounds, and gestures, and her abilities to activate your senses, therefore; just seeing a picture of her is enough to bring tears to one’s eyes, we are indeed, Angelina's Angels.

The producers of Netflix comedic drama Lilyhammer had the same thoughts as you when, after hearing Angelina perform this song a cappella on Norway's Got Talent, they cast her as a torch singer in lead character Frankie 'The Fixer' Tagliano's bar in the series 3 finale. She was 8!!!
