What I love about Angelina is that she will cover a song that not many people have heard before or heard at all, and after she's done singing, makes the listener want to check out the original artist. I love it when a reactor says, "I've never heard the original before, but after hearing Angelina covering this song, I want to go listen to the original artist." How many of today's artists listen to music from the 50's and 60's? Hardly any if any at all. She takes the sounds of those eras and tries to combine them with today's sound to create music that is all her own. Angelina is a very rare and unique artist and I'm thankful to be here experiencing her musical growth and artistry.

This one rendition, which was really only a rehearsal, illustrates in the most complete way possible for viewing listener's to understand all the inventive facets of singing that her mentor Billie Holiday brought to singing ballads. It is why Angelina has said that if not for Billie, there would be no Angelina Jordan. Billie was the most improvisational singer of all time and Angelina is following directly in her footsteps, bringing forth additional improvisations of her own. But make no mistake about it. This girl is pure Billie Holiday at the essence of her being.
I love the way she switches back & forth between a "40 yo Jazz Diva" when singing & an an 11 yo girl gesturing to her Grandma Mery in the studio while recording her 1st full album, "It's Magic." It really is "Magic!!!"
What's so marvelous about the video is how she is 'all in' when she is singing the song and steps out of her 'zone' to interact with grandma and goes right back into her zone again. Excuse me, but who can do that as well as she, a buddhist monk? Somewhere Billie Holiday's spirit is saying, "Do it girl! You got it!", whenever she hears Angelina sing this all time classic. Paul, it's definitely one of our favorite Angelina performances. But, wait, don't we say that every time? Remarkable. The one thing all her performances have in common is we feel her love in our hearts and then Angelina takes over from there and for a few precious moments we enter her world.
I don't believe any other song could better describe all the 'Billie Holiday' elements she brought to singing and which Angelina has incorporated into her own way of singing heartfelt ballads.
That "microphone thing" is called pop filter. Pop filters are use to deal with clipping effects and momentarily distortion. Pop filters are generally used in a professional studio environment to help improve the sound quality of the recorded voice, so it says something when you see Angelina behind a pop filter in her "home studio".
She has fully channeled us back to that era of sultry singers who packed in those 40's and 50's hangouts! She sounds like a magnificent much older woman!

In amazing addition to once again displaying her soaring talent, her brilliant mastery of her uniquely beautiful voice, and her complete command of the jazz/blues genres, this particular video is also a reminder that under all of that, there is a wonderful girl who absolutely loves and enjoys her craft. It is breathtaking how she can effortlessly, smoothly and instantaneously transition from a consummate professional in one moment, then, seamlessly, into a happy little girl in the next moment, and then right back to a serious professional singer in the next. It is beautiful to watch. She does this quite often, but it is really startlingly demonstrated in this video.

What a Wonderful and Brilliant Interpretation, with Angelina Jordan everything is possible. Looking at this video I believe I have witnessed a rebirth; it seems to me that I thought I saw the return to life of what you thought you were no longer living, is this the case?
She's 11 here. She sang this same song for NGT 2014 when she was 8. She sang it acapella. The orchestra she sings with has a fund raiser album they put out every year. They pick and choose the artists they want on their album. Well, the year I'm talking about the members unanimously decided they wanted Angelina to sing all the songs. So that came as a complete surprise because it had never been done before.
It was a special year for the Norwegian military band " forsvarets stabsmusikkorps " their 200th anniversary . the album it's magic was recorded November 2017 . Angelina has 2 self written songs " what is life " and " oslo" most likely written around aged 10 .

Eleven and a half here, recording for the album It's Magic with the Armed Forces Music Corps...they performed the entire album in concert the following year to mark their 200th anniversary...some of the songs, including this one, from that concert will just blow your mind...Cry Me a River, Mr (Miss) Lonely, It's a Man's World, Crazy, etc...they are all just crazy good...if you were to buy that album, I believe it would be your favourite, most treasured album...peace and joy from New Zealand
