I'm 68, from a musical family spanning music hall in the late 1800's to pop (my brother had top ten hits in the sixties) and in many ways, Angelina Jordan is the most amazing vocalist I have ever heard. I'll leave others to suggest what you should listen to from her next - but I will suggest that you get your wife to join you, when you react to AJ's "Bohemian Rhapsody" at age 13 on America's Got Talent.

"She was born to sing...." and she has been singing since she was born (practically). You will learn a lot about her from the post of others, but she is my favorite singer. At the age of 16 she has enough music in her catalog to keep me listening for hours, day after day.

Angelina sang this in NGT at 7 years old, acapella., That one needs a reaction, you won't believe it.

Just for the record, this is the audio from the album track (from _It's Magic_ , released in 2018, but recorded in November 2017, when she was 11) placed over video footage of her recording one of the takes that was used in the final product. Not all of this take we are watching was used, but almost all of the last half of it was. The rest was from at least one other take. But, yeah… show me any other 11-year-old who could sing this as well as she did, given any number of takes… 😁 And, again, just to clarify: she was recording her vocals as the band was playing live in the next room. She wasn't singing to a prerecorded instrumental track. Apparently the whole album was done that way (based on a handful of similar videos where the band can be seen). If this was anyone except Angelina Jordan, that would seem kind of insane. (OK, we have an 11-year-old singer here that we want to record 13 tracks with. Let's have a 42-member military band play with her live for every take on every track. It should only take two days, right?😳) BTW, the video you just reacted to provides, in the video description, a link to the original video that the "visuals" here were taken from. In it, you can hear what she actually sounded like in the recording booth (and you can tell how little they processed her vocal for the album track). This is how I could determine how much of this take was used in the final track - by playing the two videos simultaneously, synced up with each other. (It's hard to get the sync right at the beginning, since the band can barely be heard in the original video and that part of the take she's singing was not used on the album. But eventually, as I implied before, the two sync up completely, and you can tell it's the same take for the last half, up to, but not including, the very last line of the song.) Even before I had seen this particular studio session, I was saying that recording her must be a music producer's dream: just do 2 or 3 full takes of the song, stitch the best parts together (with very few edits), and, boom, you're done. That seems to be exactly what happened in this case.🙂

Angelina's performance of this song is an exquisite masterpiece. It is at a level of beauty, perfection, and emotional expressiveness that is difficult to believe. Angelina here is following the style of Billie Holiday, but extending it in her own ways. She started singing at age 1 1/2 and at age 2 was introduced to jazz, and her greatest influence was Holiday. In fact, she has said that without Billie Holiday, Angelina Jordan would not exist. Angelina has a good number of other performances that are also definitely masterpieces, and in a remarkable variety of styles. Sir, you can hear, in a sense, Billie Holliday, her big idol, singing through Angelina. Angelina got the gift of a tiny bit longer larynx from the universe and puts it to good use. She started singing in her cradle at 18 months, studies music at the music academies of Oslo, and nowadays LA since age of 4, besides visiting "normal" school. Winning Norse Talenter in 2014 at the ripe age of 7-8 years. She is working very hard for her craft and for the underprivileged. This is one of my favorite performances, probably because I'm fan of seeing studio vocal takes. I'm really blown away by her composure and confidence throughout her early work. Two of my other favorite performances that would be interesting for you to review are 'Feeling Good' live from 'The Stream Gives Back,' where she crushes the vocals and timing and meshes with the band so well (great horn section,) and obviously as other people have said, her arrangement of Screamin' Jay Hawkins "I Put a Spell on You" though that is more a "produced/polished video production than a true 'behind the scenes' vocal take (again, great horn section.) Her formative years, ( 2 to 7, ) were spent listening to Billie and other jazz greats. She obviously soaked it in and developed her own sense of phrasing and tonality. She is quite unique and, dare I say, delicious!

How many of the souls does she possess? Angelina keeps them all alive with Jazz. This was for her “IT’S MAGIC” Album (16 songs). In the top 100 on some charts. Some countries have her in the top 20 In other countries, the top 100. 🌺

And that is exactly who and what Angelina is. A born singer and a musical genius. She arranges her own music. Her 'Bohemian Rhapsody' was such an incredible arrangement that Queen allowed her to copyright it. Angelina also has in equal portion to her singing talent, is humility. May I suggest Angelina singing, (You Make Me Feel So Young) There are a couple of videos out with her in this song but you want the one from Oct 28,2019 with her hair done up and her sitting down in her home and a picture that her grandmother painted on the wall behind her. This song is done in a 1940 style in the big band era days style. She was born January 10, 2006 and she was 13 when she did this video. The video you just watched, “ I’m a fool to want you” was Also put out in 2019 when she was 13, not 11 or possibly her video was not released until 2019. When she was just a wee-little child she sounded like a 40 or 50-year old Jazz singer that had years of life experience under her belt. It almost seems she is the reincarnation of all the great jazz and blues singers that ever lived. She has a very deep and mature sound even as a child.
