Angelina Jordan ASTAR (the name says it all), this sweet little norwegian girl (now 16 y old) is imo the best singer on this planet! 🤩

You are right in that Angelina is a very cerebral person. Angelina is completely aware of everything going on in the studio. She knows what each musician is supposed to do to perform her arrangement of this song. The group of musicians that Angelina has worked with at this age call her the boss.

It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl can step up to a microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance, then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this! "I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock-rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne type craziness). His style is difficult to emulate and his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video). You must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). Likewise, Angelina has extraordinary and perhaps one-of-a-kind musical "hardware" in her head that allows her to cerebrally and vocally do all the things she does (and do it in such a seemingly relaxed yet focused and precise manner). I did not really understand ‘prodigy’; then I discovered Angelina. I think she has all the positive characteristics of a savant without the negative abnormalities. She is ‘the perfect storm’ (still looking for a metaphor having positive connotation) of vocal capabilities.

Attitude! Angelina attacked this with attitude. She committed completely to her inner Jay Hawkins. Great observations from a different view point. The musicality of Angelina is off the charts.

AJ is 9 years old here, just one year after winning Norway's Got Talent, singing "Summertime" for her final performance. This performance is her own arrangement and she has put on her dark angel wings. Definitely a show piece. AJ seems to have a very high level of empathy which you can see in interviews that she gives. She has deep compassion for others which is part of being able to put herself into their shoes and feel what they feel. AJ's interest in jazz came from her emotional connection to Billie Holiday when AJ first heard her. And yes, AJ is very observant and analytical about her own performances. If you watch her in her early studio sessions (age 6 in a school studio), singing "I Who Have Nothing", she reflects back on her performance and gives an accurate assessment.

Angelina has stated that she has never been nervous about any performance regardless of age.

Very very few reactors have taken note of Angelina's reflective, contemplative look after she is done singing. No doubt in my mind she was reviewing all the choice she made during her performance. I believe she is able to process music at a level very few people are able to. She was near her 9th birthday for this performance and appears obvious she feels the music to the point where she becomes the music. Thankfully Angelina has the talent to convey those personal feelings to the listener.

I've seen the videos you watched so far what was it three or four she has over I think 160 covers and Originals. Most of which are absolutely amazing vocals. Now at 16 her Adel covers, her cover of my funny Valentine and tic toc`s ect. All I can say is absolutely stunning. You should hear her belt now. If you saw her sing it's a man's world which came out before Bohemian Rhapsody where she easily belted out E5's like nothing. you would have realized she sung the high note that way on purpose. No body likes everything and artist sings we all have our likes and dislikes I don't like everything she does eather but I'll tell you one thing out of all the musicians and bands I've listen to through the years nothing comes close to this girl. I think as you watch more of her you mite feel the same. You are definitely one of the best reaction people I have seen on you tube and I can't wait to see you react to her latest covers.

As a fan of this young lady I absolutely am so very impressed with Angelina's singing voice. The one thing I've noticed is her stage presence is still in pace with her age even as an accomplished singer. It's a personality thing to me in the sense that when an artist gets on stage especially while touring, one of the main functions is to entertain an audience. She is way beyond her years in her singing abilities. Better than most established artists already. To me she still has much to learn and mature with stage presence. This is no knock on AJ, just an observation I've noticed. Tbh, when I 1st watch her video of "I put a spell on you" I thought she was well on her way to being a killer on stage with how she was so animated and a natural. I heard that she was advised to not use that style of singing due it may cause problems with her vocals later. So maybe that's why she changed up her choices of songs to sing which in turn kept her from being so animated. Fans don't care about that much though due to how great a singer she already is. For me if I'm going to a concert I want to be entertained with stage presence along with a great performance singing wise. But that's my choice and what I like. I'm into older rock classic where those artists knew and actually still do, how to entertain their crowds.

I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.

This studio production quality is quite high as well. Angelina was very fortunate to have this kind of professional attention and opportunities during her all of her young career. I have noticed that even in recent performances she often sticks out her tongue when pronouncing L words. I have wondered how that benefits her pronunciation but whatever she does, I hope she keeps on doing it. Everything about her performances are perfect in my opinion.

Angelina seems to sing songs with a different perspective than the song was intended and that is how she is able to put genuine emotion into the song like this, for example, people think of it as a love song but I don't believe that is the way Angelina sings it. She wants to put a spell on us for her love of music and her desire to sing for the world, which she has expressed many times. I saw her on a video in Brazil at the statue of Jesus and she was singing Fly Me to the Moon to Jesus just like a prayer, especially the part about "let me sing forevermore", at that moment to her it was not a love song it was a prayer. Perspective is everything.

When she performs she says she enters a special place where everything is happy and good. With her performances often she smiles into the camera, gives a little wave, flicks the switch, feels the music and off she goes. Dude, she's channelling and embodying the spirit of Screamin' Jay Hawkins. There is no other explanation. She has written the lyrics in English, one of 4-5 languages she speaks, and is reading them as she belts out the words translating with emotion. Mind blowing performance for a 9yo. She is able to embody the emotion of all the songs she sings in a supernatural way.

With very few exceptions Angelina has always chosen the songs she wants to sing and writes her own arrangements.

Angelina wrote an incredibly emotional song called "Million Miles" in memory of her beloved grandfather who had just passed away (at that time). She was 13/14 years old. She recorded it later as her first single for her new label, Republic Records. Do a reaction to the black and white live studio version. It is one of three companion videos. The others are the actual official Republic video music release and a lyrics version. I highly recommend doing a reaction to the lyrics version second. It is the same recording as the official version but has graphics done by her grandmother, a noteworthy Iranian artist. With these videos, she has produced a quite stunning beginning of her career with Republic. Also, the pianist in the live studio video is a very high up Republic executive. Angelina commented that when she was in the studio doing the song she cried throughout the session. You can hear and see the pain she feels for her loss when you watch the live studio set. She said she wanted the song to be for anyone that had such a loss. With consideration to the that background to her song, you will get as emotional as she is when she recorded it. She has a magical vocal power to draw you into this other dimension. She has always put her soul and emotions into her works. Great analysis! You noticed the finger flourishes and her focus/awareness more than other reactors. She makes it look easy and natural but I know a lot more goes into it. One of her iconic performances is her appearance at age 8 on The View where she sang Fly Me to the Moon and again there she makes it look so easy, but, as a Patron I got access to a long behind the scenes video of that day, and she and the guitarist worked together on set for hours perfecting the performance.

Thank you for your analysis of this master piece. Trying to understand what is going on in the minds of prodigies is imo a fruitless endeavor. We will never know how Alma Deutscher can dream new melodies. Or what Angelina is processing/thinking when performing. She says that she enters a beautiful place. They are wired in special ways, and we should be grateful for them letting us join in and be part of their world.

She feels the emotion because she adapts the lyrics of the song to events that she understands in her own life. She would not be able to elicit that kind of emotion unless she was feeling it. Watching every one of Angelina's appx. 150 performances wouldn't be a wasted moment for you, plus you would learn a lot about a beautiful, multitalented young lady. Lots of surprises left. Someone on youtube says she has 7 different styles of voice. I think that's not going to age well, I kind of think she makes them up as she goes. With your analytical style Angelina has a lot of surprises for you. Her grandmother is quite artistic with a lot of the videos, I think some are better themes than some of the pro's.

I know many people have already pointed out that she was "channeling" Screamin' Jay Hawkins here. But even if you're somewhat familiar with his original studio version of the song or some of his live versions (and especially if you're not), you really should check out the closing credits of the compilation video called "I Put a Spell on You - Angelina Jordan Reaction - Every Reaction Ever" (on the PO Talks channel), where clips of Jay singing various parts of the song (in a live performance from relatively late in his life) are juxtaposed with Angelina's takes on the same parts. The comparison makes it clear that, for all the screaming and growling she's doing here, she is actually taking all the "over the top" things he would do when he sang the song and tweaking them a bit to make them sound _more musical_ . An incredible feat for a 9-year-old…

A child of nine cannot under normal circumstances put this knowing inflection into a song. This is not a normal circumstance. We all have a higher conscious mind that became unconscious with the so called 'fall '. This girl has a fully awake and active super-consciousness that has been running things for her for some time. When she sings a fully mature avatar self takes over. She swaps places with the boss and goes into its customary state of being. There have been other such people on the planet. They are usually here for a greater purpose.

Ufa, até que enfim alguém conseguiu retratar as sutilezas de forma minuciosa desse ANJO. A parte mais importante a ser observada voce observou bem, que é o final pós musica, onde ela se auto-observa super concentrada tentando rever cada nota que ela fez e se auto-julgando se tudo correu bem. Those gentleman musicans out of respect refer to Angelina as the boss. After all its her arrangement and she will correct you. Modern stuff as in 2022 will melt you. Any of it is good. Watch her microphone control at 1.5 yrs singing along to Whitney Houston.

She's impressive, but did you note how many different angles the video had? I suspect there wasn't a lot of people with cameras there -- it was probably one camera in the hands of her grandmother (CMIIAW)! If so, consider how many takes she went through to get this!! And, as always, consider it was probably Angelina arranging much of the video to fit with her audio!!!

I would suggest you react to “A Song For A”. Lyrics are Robert Burns’s, the music is composed by Nico Cartusio - and he especially wanted Angelina to sing this. (Since you liked that particular passage 😉!)
