ALSO, note that Angelina arranges all the music of the songs she does with live musicians. over the years Angelina has written several songs which are AMAZING, plus she had a book published, she is an artist also. she lost her grandfather a few years ago when she was either 11 or 12, she wrote a song about him and she did drawings to the song. last year at 14, she recorded the song in studio and they used her drawings along with some from her grandmother who is also an artist, to make a video for the song. later another video was made, official video, and then she went and recorded the song again live in studio with just 2 musicians, piano and cello. the song is called A Million Miles ( live in studio ) black and white version. its amazing. every time i watch it i cry. from that same c d she has a song called "7th Heaven". its a bluesy jazzy song, too short but sooooooo good. her version of Michael Jacksons "Billie Jean" is so good, nothing like the original. you have seen her Adele cover, she has done Adele covers over the years and blows them out of the water. she has covered so many artists over the years, one of the toughest songs ever to sing is Whitney Houstons song " I Have Nothing". Watch the lyrics version first. It has great artful graphics by her grandmom, a noted Iranian artist. The lyrics are most powerful. Then watch the b/w live studio version. She uses just a piano (played by a very high up Republic executive) and cello backing. The emotion in this performance will make you cry. I am so envious of you guys. You get to see all of these videos of Angelina for the first time. The good thing is I get to watch you have the excitement I had and it's a lot of fun!! This was about a year after she won Norway's Got Talent at 8. Right after winning NGT she performed for a large outdoor audience that was televised in Norway. "WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES" Allsang pa Grensen 2014. She owns the stage on all alone on a small platform with a great jazz band and back up singers in the distance. It is an amazing how in control and how confident she performs the song to perfection at 8 years old! This is just another of dozens that will floor you. It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl can step up to a microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance, then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this! "I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock-rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video). She starts low, rising in intensity throughout, and finishes in an unexpected and practically operatic style. You must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). Her first time in studio, age 6 singing «I who have nothing»…and then her Norway’s got talent performances, age 7 (audition first «gloomy sunday» (Billie Holiday). Angelina IS jazz and she has an old soul. How many 5-6 years old children go to retro record store to listen to old classics like Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra etc on vinyl.…not many. Angelina did when she was that young. She isnt like normal great child singers who have a clear poppy voice (but still sound like children). She is unique, has lots of talents beside singing…and has been that way since she was so youmg. She makes her own clothes, she is the youngest best selling author in Norway, she pays different instruments, etc. She also supports a lot of charities…if I remember right, she gave away most of her prize money from winning NGT…and she is still only 15.

I love the very end of the video where we see Angie thinking about what she just did and likely thinking of how she could improve on it. Her genius arrangement of "Bohemian Rhapsody" is my choice for your next reaction.

Let’s analyze the video: 1st you see how small and cute she is. 2nd you see she is barefoot (story below) 3rd You see her making her “Wish List” of suggested changes to the song. 4th the band leader taking note of the changes. 5th Angelina is holding a candle with “Screemin’ Jay Hawkin’s (original artist 1956) picture on it. 6th the old soul in her voice. She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talk with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a Doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind the world that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.

Angelina is unique, practically impossible to describe, but wonderful, always. 💛 She wanted to make this studio recording, which is by no means an imitation but as a tribute to Screamin' whom she listened to and admired a lot. Surely the only girl of 9 years in the world who knows him and who even thinks of singing it without any fear is her. It's also incredible to think that this adaptation is all about her (the written sheets presented to the director) and that at that age she was able to evaluate and transform, according to her sensitivity, such a particular and powerful song 💛 🧡 ❤️

My greatest joy of late is seeing more and more people discovering Angelina but get prepared for she has over 100 covers and now at 15 she has a couple of originals. I just saw an original she did earlier when she left home to come to the US..."Oslo" (Oslo, Norway her hometown)...a must-see video! but shoots, you have so, so many to hear and to pick favorites!!
Angelina was 9 years old when this was recorded - She not only sang the song but also wrote most of the arrangement - the papers she was writing on and handed to the band director were some last-minute changes "wishes" she wanted. The band she worked with during this time period referred to her as "the boss". Here is another video also at age 9 that reveals how Angelina worked with this band.
