I'm looking forward to your journey and analysis of A.J's voice over the years and she's known to have a thousand voices as it was maturing lol. She was signed to Republic Records at 14 and her 1st Original release was "Million Miles" which she wrote at 14 as a tribute to her grandpa who had just passed away. This song will just melt you heart btw. Quick background for you, A.J is a musical prodigy who started singing at 1 and 1/2 years old and by 3 she was mimicking all the Jazz greats from RU-vid Nina, Etta, Ella, Frank and Screaming Jay Hawkins famous hit "i Put A Spell on You". Performing music for the rest of her life is her dream, but her parents refused to just toss her into the biz. Republic Records had to promise not to promote & develop her heavily and let her grow at a steady pace so that she can finish school and still enjoy her childhood to a point. That's the only reason they agreed to signing with R.R. They try to keep her fanbase stoked with 1 or 2 concerts a year and 1 or 2 singles a year with the odd charity performances here and there because A.J is very philanthropic and never turns away from needy causes like needy children and the environment. This all helps keep her in the limelight on her until she gets a little older and fully commits to just music. Hope to see more
Angelina was apparently influence by her grandmother, who is a an artist, and introduced her to jazz. However I don't think there is anyone in her family who is particularly musical. There is a video of Angelina singing at one and a half years old and she just seems to have been born with musical talent. She is a true prodigy.

No singers in her pedigree, but her grandmother, Mery a child prodigy painter, exposed her to jazz from the time Angelina was born. And yeah, she literally came out singing in the crib. There's a home video of her at 1 1/2 holding a microphone and trying to belt out a Whitney Houston song. That little one had no tolerance for "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" or "Mary had A Little Lamb." It was jazz with some pop mixed in from the start. Angelina, is a prodigy. No other conclusion is possible. She was entranced with singing and singers and had the hearing to soak up music and develop a sophisticated musical taste many times faster than the average person, Then, she had the "pipes" to imitate every nuance of sound that she heard. Here talent was recognized early, probably first by her grandmother. She began very young augmenting her education with special schooling in voice in her home town of Oslo, Norway. For what next, I suggest getting more rounded as to who Angelina is as a singer. After that it will be interesting to look into her beginnings. Off the top of my head, I cannot compose a list of Angelina performances that would give you a full introduction to her, maybe a cover of Adele and Lana Del Rey. Her performance of Elton John's "Yellow Brick Road," on AGT is a knock out. Her cover of Whitney's "I have Nothing" illustrates additional breadth. Angelina's cover of Etta James' "I'd Rather Go Blind" always knocks me out. One saving grace is that no matter what order you listen to Angelina's catalog of performances, there is no bad way to go about it.

Angelina is the best. Even at nine years old. She pays respect to Screamin Jay, she absolutely nails the genre, and she gives us her own amazing arrangement with vocals and attitude. Right from the first couple lines, she owns that great band behind her. It’s beautiful to see a singer (forget that she’s 9) so perfectly locked into the pocket of that old-school timing and rhythm. You said she has a generational voice. I’m in my 70’s- it’s a once in a lifetime voice for me. Next song? You have dozens to choose from. To see her 180 degrees different, try her cover of Adele’s A Million Years Ago or Lana Del Ray’s Born to die. Her voice is magically flexible, resonant, and deep. Or if you think you can handle it, choose her cover of Etta James’ I’d Rather Go Blind. It’s another genre and era that Angelina nails perfectly-like you’re listening to a 60’s jukebox with Angelina on a 45. You’ll see that Angelina can do things that other singers won’t even attempt.

Yes! Her timing has been totally fantastic from the very start (at 6/7 y.o.). So difficult to learn as an adult.. Some composers/arrangers try to “help” by tweaking the notation which often result in almost unreadable music. It’s obviously natural for Angelina.

People refer to Angelina as the girl with 1,000 voices. After listening to nearly all of her 130+ RU-vid videos, I believe it's not hyperbole. Good to hear you reacting to the breadth of difference in her vocal abiity. She said in an interview on Rosie O'Donnell's show that she's been singing since she was 1-1/2, and that she started with jazz. Phenomenal. Why not try her new original song, in a new music video? 7th Heaven. Another recent original is the heartbreaker Million Miles.
Angelina fell in love with Jazz at a very young age listening to her grandma's jazz records and finding jazz songs on You Tube. You really need to start way back when she was 6 years old and recording "I Who Have Nothing".

what is great about your reaction is you know about. Screaming Jay Hawkings and CCR.! The candle she's holding is Jay. She patterned her version after his.! most reactors have never listened to either and have no idea that Jay wrote the song in 56.
You say Angelina has a generational voice. I became a angel about 17 months ago and now believe Angelina is a once in forever musical artist. Who can you compare her to? 130+ covers before her 14th birthday and not a bad one, covering 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 different genres.
She was 9 years old when this was recorded, and it is her interpretation and arrangement. The notes she gave to the band leader were some last minute revisions.
You have now heard two of her voices, and as you guessed, there are many more to hear. I have never heard anyone that can sing in so many styles, and make every one of them sound like it's her specialty. I could list out several different pairs of songs that you would not believe are coming from the same person. This and bohemian are one such pair. Another might be "It's a Mans World", and "Million Years Ago" ...or "Song For A" and "Above the Water" ...I could go on all day with these, but you will see what I mean when you get deeper into her massive library of work.

I think when Screaming Jay wrote the "I love you. I love you. I love you" part he was attempting to shout out to each of his baby mama's. he was gonna need another 72 or more I loves you for that though.

Generational might not be quite sufficient to describe her talent. Multi-generational, at least. I would go far to say that there has never before been a jazz prodigy of her ability at this age.
I would go 1 of 2 ways. One, do 2 double reactions from Norways Got Talent. Gloomy Sunday and I'm A Fool to Want You both at 7 years old. She then turned 8 and sung Bang Bang and Summertime in the winning finale. Or, two, a demo surrounded by controversy, and which, is arguably her masterpiece. The demo that was "leaked"....at 10 years old, I'm Still Holding Out For You.
She was listening to this music in her crib. No really......thats what her moms says. So it was embedded into that little brain and made a huge imprint. If that makes sense. Complete control and came from the soul....straight from the soul!! Enjoyed your reaction! I know....knocks you flat right?
The most amazing thing to me is she's actually reading the lyrics in English as she's singing the song. And yes she sound like she was born with a cigarette in one hand and a bottle of bourbon in the other. This is my favorite song of hers along with I feel good at 10 years old.

It is really worth to do so. Angelina started singing with 1 1/2 years old. And she started with Jazz. Her choice. She tells this in one of her early interviews.

For the one try " I'm still holding out for you " again mind blowing, she was is 10 almost 11, this was a demo for the original wrter/ artist " baby fuzz" someone leaked it and it ended up on u- tube a fan put the video together.
Although I like CCR's 'version', it isn't a cover of the original. They changed it too much. To get a real taste of the "Tribute" Angelina is paying to the original artist, here is a link to a compilation of reactions to this song. If you go to the 6:05 mark, it starts the credits and has Screamin' Jay Hawkins on the left singing the original, and Angelina on the right with her tribute. She stays truer to it, yet added her own twists. Keep in mind that a 9 year old arranged the version you just watched, and the candle at the beginning is Hawkin's himself. The shot of her writing and then the man looking at it and smiling (the producer) was as he said in a later interview, "her wishes" for changes to the arrangement. i saw a video of angelina talking to her mother @5-6 and i know she went to her mother at 5 and told her she was ready 4 talent shows as she wanted to show world her talent. her words...ngt had a age restriction of 7 so i would assume angelina was becoming pretty impatient at 6 or so. the video had no subtitles but it was clear angelina told her mother that she was going to call simon herself...gotta love her confidence she knew at 3 she could impress him...

Check out Angelina's 4 auditions at Norway's Got Talent. Angelina's grandmother (mom's side) is a famous painter and poet from Iran. She exposed AJ to the legendary crooners on RU-vid when AJ was around 3 years old. Angelina became obsessed watching them over and over on RU-vid and her digital notepad. "I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video). She starts low, rising in intensity throughout and finishes in an unexpected and practically operatic style. Because you haven't, you must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. No she just went to one hour music lessons after school finished. Her grandmother great iranian artist mery zamani is a jazz tragic. Angelinas most natural singing voice is a billy holiday vein. Of course she started studio recording at age 6 . Won norways got talent at 7 writing arrangements at 8 . By that time she played 3 instruments and spoke 3 languages. She is also the youngest author in norways history with her book illustrated by her grandmother. It recounts the story of how when she was in the middle east she saw a girl sitting in the street who had no shoes. After befriending the girl she gave her shoes to the girl and vowed to perform barefoot in public until all the worlds children have shoes. Because of this, among the concerts she has performed in many countries, many are for the united nations childrens charities. She also paints and makes her own clothes. The outfit you saw her in on AGT champions was made by her using her grandmothers art. Her family refused to sign an exclusive recording contract with AGT the champions series when she was 12 so ultimately she appeared at 13 as a ratings booster not to win
Now you need to see her own composition videos of "Million Miles". She wrote it a couple years ago for the memory of her recently passed (at that time) beloved grandfather. She has dedicated it to him and for any others that have experienced such loss. There are two incredible video versions to see other than the official music video by her new label, Republic Records. Watch the lyrics version first. It has great artful graphics by her grandmom, a noted Iranian artist. The lyrics are most powerful. Then watch the b/w studio version. She uses just a piano (played by a very high up Republic executive) and cello backing. The emotion in this performance will make you cry. Angelina mentioned that while recording the "official" version she cried throughout the session. If you have memories of a dear loss, you need to do a reaction video of the lyrics version before seeing it first.

She truly is a wonder. I've heard she wrote/created this version herself...even at this young age. If you do a search you'll find the Screaming Jay Hawkins version and you will see she was heavily influenced by him. The picture on the candle in the beginning is Screaming Jay.
Take a peek at “Bang Bang” at 7. A Cher cover. There is a video of her audition for “Norway’s Got Talent” doing Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday” that has BangBang, Gershwin’s “Summertime, and “Feelin’ Good”. I think she won with “Summertime”.
Great review. And what an appropriate analogy - The raspiness of Louis Armstrong combined with the smoothness of Ella Fitzgerald. You won’t be surprised to find out that those two classical jazz vocalists are among Angelina’s inspirations since the age of five or six (she’s been immersing her self in jazz since she was three)! Among her large oeuvre of cover songs includes Ella’s version of “Every Time We Say Goodbye “ and Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World”. 👍❤️
She actually won NGT at 8 and did AGT at 13. She said this is a song about "desperate love"; she understood the emotional heart of the song, even at 9. How many times did she listen to Screamin' Jay (he's on the candle)? How many times did she ask herself "How did he do that?" And the band clearly respects her. She has so many wonderful covers and her two originals on Republic are excellent too. Why not do her cover of Etta James I'd Rather Go Blind or her tribute to her friend Avicii after he killed himself?

She's been singing since the age of 2 with a jazz influenced background ! Also I would suggest her two new originals songs "Million Miles " and "7th Heaven "" they are fabulous ! My I suggest I Would Rather Go Blind for another Angelina voice? Regarding singing lessons, rumour has it that they put her in music college at a very young age and she was able to teach the tutor quite a lot.

Angelina is the destroyer of original songs... Once she does a cover song you usually don't care about the original anymore. There are dozens of songs from Angelina that will blow your mind over and over again. There is a simple explanation for Angelina... she if from another planet and she is 4,000 years old... see? simple... :)
