Angelina is 9 years old in the interview and in the performance - Keep in mind that when she reads from her diary that she wrote those words when she was 6 years old! The title of her boos is Between Two Hearts - she is the youngest published author in Norway's History.
Such an amazing interview, she tells us about this one child, but makes it clear that there are deprived children like her to be found anywhere, unfortunately the case, even in very wealthy countries...
That's one of the parts that struck me the most. "It could have been anywhere". It is amazing that she was already aware of the concept of misery, not just for that girl but for all children in her situation anywhere.
I think one of the most amazing things is that at 6 yrs old, this child was keeping a journal! How many 6 yr olds do you know that can not only read, but write in such an amazing thought out way. She is such a gift to the world.
BTW- you can buy her book and read the whole story that she wrote. I think only the ebook is currently available (that is what I've got) but it is well worth it. I hope at some point, she has another printing done. I''d buy an armload of copies to give to friends and family...
Thank you Alex for diving into this side of our Angel. Great reaction. I'd like to add that Angelina spoke with this girl in Farsi, the language in Iran, her grandmother is from Iran. And she could write and read, also in English as one can see in her first recording session. The girl she gave her shoes to was the oldest of several siblings and they were orphans so she was their caretaker, at age 7, her dream was to study medicine but she knew that would never happen. Later Angelina has helped raise millions to help children and revenue from sales of her book also goes to charity.

Wonderful reaction to part of the Angelina Jordan story. I read her book and it touched my heart deeply. Both her thoughts and Mery Zimani's beautiful illustrations. It makes me want to be a kinder and more compassionate person. It also shows the wellspring of AJ's emotionally expressive singing from such a young age to the present day. I enjoy great music from many styles but very few artists touch my heart like Angelina Jordan.
The book is special gem 💎 artful Illustrations from her grandma and deep minded thoughts. Astonishing from a child. She read the main part, where she saw the light shining and found the stairs to heaven 😅

What is truly amazing to me is not only her love & concern for less fortunate children, but that she was reading from her own diary which she had written when she was only 6 years old. What amazes me about human nature is that many reactors have been told this story but at a later date seem to forget most of the details when they refer to Angelina not wearing shoes. I am sure that you would not be among them as you show such an appreciation for all that Angelina is.

Alex, so glad u have seen this interview. For me, this is equal to the beauty of her voice. I have the book and when u consider the content is taken from that journal which she wrote ~6YO it's profound. I'm not sure that u can still get a hardback book, but ebooks are on her website, the artwork is of course exquisitely done by grandma Mery
She is such a wonderful human being, not only as a singer but also from the inside. And seeing these two video's you can see it clearly: Angelina talks because she has to and she sings because it is her passion. She can't miss it.
What many do not consider. She is walking down a street with her Mother and Grandmother on a cold day when she notices the girl about her age weighing people on a bathroom scale. The girl is dirty and cold with no shoes and scar’s on her feet. Angelina stop’s and talk’s for around forty five minutes exchanging there life stories. She is six years old. Mother and Grandmother are also engaged in the conversation. Angelina indicates she wants to give the girl her shoes and Mother indicates she can. What family communally would do this, let alone a six year old child. Consider the implications on Angelina’s life. Consider she recorded this encounter in her diary. Consider three years later she writes a book about this girl she meets. Consider the type of family she has. The stars have aligned to produce Angelina from her conception, and we are blessed with the results.
Great reaction Alex. So glad you are taking the trouble to find out everything you can about this amazingly kind and talented young lady. I recently bought her book on ebooks. I can’t imagine any other child of 6 years old having such empathy for another human being, let alone express it so wonderfully in words. Many children of this age can barely write their name and address!
Thanks Alex for reacting to this interview and song. Angelina was 6 years old when she met the orphan girl in the Middle East, and wrote about it in her diary. Certainly plenty of credit goes to Angelina's loving family for teaching her great values, but there is no doubt Angelina fully embraces empathy.
The book even includes Angelina's thoughts about what her mother has taught her. It's revealing in many ways. It seems that from her conception she has been blessed by a convergence of factors creating a "perfect storm", allowing us to witness and experience the miracle of her life.
@@ShanLiB Totally agree. Angelina's book, "Between Two Hearts" is wonderful. I encourage everyone to purchase it. I am lucky to have a hard copy which I BELIEVE is still available but ONLY in Norway and they won't ship it out of the country. Need a friend in Norway. I believe proceeds from both the hard copy and the e-book are donated to charity.
@@andyschnell58 I bought mine from Norway several years ago and had to translate it myself. That was a fun and enlightening project. I was unable to just speed read it and the slower pace caused me to concentrate more on what was being said. As it was slowly revealed it almost brought me to tears. I'm glad the English version wasn't available at that time. Considering the source, I have no worries about where the proceeds will go.
Angelina is lovely in everything she does, and I've heard this interview with English captions before. I really wish you had provided us with those captions as I don't imagine there are very many English speaking people out there who also understand Norwegian, and those few that do, I suspect, are all Norwegian themselves. I like all of your reactions, but most of those are in English, and this was not. Are you somehow fluent in Norwegian?
The English subtitles are there, but they're not always in synch with the audio, and the more lengthy subtitles sometimes disappear before I had time to read them! I actually had to watch the video again, then pause it when the subtitles appeared so I could read them. I believe there are better versions online where the subtitles are linked perfectly to the audio, including the ENTIRE interview.
