This is a love song to God .Angelina is a big Elvis fan.Elvis brought it out in 1966. Angelina has stayed with the same way Elvis sang it back then. It’s truly remarkable. I think most religious songs are songs of love and can't imagine anyone being offended by this song coming across as a love song. Angelina, who is music personified, is also filled with love, and music is her way of sharing.
Other than Angelina, who else in the history of music would have the versatility to take a song like Whitney's 'I Have Nothing' past the stratosphere and then do something like this where she holds that sustained low register longer than Elvis when he sang it?

Here's a snippet from the Wikipedia article that you might enjoy reading: "'How Great Thou Art' is a Christian hymn based on an original Swedish hymn entitled 'O Store Gud' written in 1885 by Carl Boberg (1859-1940). The English version of the hymn and its title are a loose translation by the English missionary Stuart K. Hine from 1949. I remember it well, but you are too young to have heard it then. It has been covered by a number of artists, including a mellow version by Elvis and a powerful rendition by Carrie Underwood. You might want to check out a few versions, the Bev Shea one for sure. There are more verses than you heard here. You can find the lyrics and sheet music online, of course. You mention Gregorian Chant. I'm not Catholic, & have pretty much given up on organized religion, but still find the chanting of monks to be quite beautiful & mesmerizing!
This was great, getting the background and context about music in the churches. BTW, the guitarist here was Ivan Mendez, who accompanied Angelina in most of her ad hoc sessions during her 12th year when she was in L.A. It was a wonderful year for them both but, especially for us.

If you'd like to hear it in the most extreme let loose version you could try Carrie Underwood and Vince Gill when How Great Thou Art blew the roof off the place. How Great Thou Art is based on a Swedish traditional tune and a poem by Carl Boberg. Written in 1885, this hymn has become one of the most famous in the world. She sang it in the Elvis version at 12-13 years old. Pretty sure Ellis sped this up to 1.5 times the normal speed she posted here...just my opinion. It is much faster than the original.

It’s appropriate that you said Jordan sounds like she was singing a love song because that’s exactly what she was doing, singing about her love for God. I’m like you Ellis, not very religious, but some of my favorite music is Gospel, especially Elvis’s Take My Hand Precious Lord. You should check it out.
