Wow, what a voice, what a singing. This is what I need to cry from happiness.

This is absolutely amazing cover of the song. Even at her high standards this is very good. One of the best singing performances I have ever heard from anyone! That guitar player Ivan Mendez actually told in the interview that it was sometimes hard for him to concentrate on playing because he was such a fan for Angelina always when they were recording. The recording sessions were very spontaneous he told. Sometimes they just hung together half a day and then they started recording in late night. He got just a few minutes to practise the song (he wasn't familiar at all with many of the songs) and then they recorded it. One or two takes. That's it. 2-3 songs per day. Many of the recorded songs are not in RU-vid at all, he told.

D, The brain can’t comprehend that this is a twelve year old child covering this this song. What’s even more mind bending is knowing that this is a raw, unedited and un digitally enhanced performance. Guitarist, Ivan Mendez does a great job accompanying Angelina. His facial expressions show how much he loves listening to Angelina sing.

To begin with, Rhianna's original is a beautifully done recording which undoubtedly required numerous takes before it was ready for us to hear. She, of course, also was aided by a total professional studio and an array of musicians and sound engineers to bring it to its best possible completion. Here, we have a young girl who invites her guitar playing friend to come over her home for a 'jam' session of sorts. Neither was all that familiar with the song but Ivan did as best as he could in following Angelina's vocal lead. Angelina herself required a tablet at her side that she could constantly refer to for the lyrics. Saying all this, Angelina's rendition is, to me, much more penetrating than Rhianna's. when it's said , 'this girl could sing the phone book', I'm beginning to believe it. She applied subtle differences to Rhianna's version, which of course is possible because of Angelina's ability to apply a better arrangement just using her own ear. Rhianna has sold over 100 million albums and is a Billionaire'.........and she still can't out sing our 'barefoot princess'. Rhianna may be a 'Billionaire', but as a singer Angelina is 'one in a billion'.

When you see Ivan Mendez playing guitar for Angelina, it was recorded in 2018 when Angelina and family were visiting Los Angeles. This performance has the honor of being part of the reaction that was the first to reach 1 million views. Now there at least a handful of reactions to Angelina that have surpassed one million. Nobody can emit the emotion and soul of a song like Angelina. I think she reads the lyrics first before listening to the song. In this way she can understand the feeling and emotion the artist wants to convey. Then she arranges it to be able to dramatically convey the feeling and emotion to us. She takes iconic songs and makes them Angelina songs. Her vocals, tones and smokiness do the rest. She is already The Greatest of All Time! Just amazing!!

Great reaction, D👍 This is the result you get when 12-year old Angelina and a friend sit down and one-takes a classic song in her home. These songs that you see her sing in this setting were never planned ahead, they just decided on the spot. All the while reading the lyrics off of her laptop to her left because she wasn't totally familiar with them. You can see the glow of the laptop on her face and you can see her constantly turn her head to the left... The same goes for all of her recordings with this guitarist, Ivan Mendez and the other guitarist, Egil Klausen. She played with Egil while she lived in Norway and with Ivan after she moved to Los Angeles. She moved to LA when she was 12. She signed with the Republic Records two years later. Actually, in an interview, the guitarist, Ivan Mendez said that the hardest thing for him to do was to concentrate on his performance while listening to Angelina sing.

These sessions with Ivan Mendez were largely unrehearsed as I understand. He would come to Angelina’s house and hang out with her and her family during the day. In the evening they’d quickly settle on a song, went through the score and went for it. One take (unless per his own words, Ivan messed up), raw recordings, without much in the way of recording. Let people listen to it and make them believe it :-) Rihanna’s version is a song of hope and you pretty much know they other is going to stay. Because of the arrangement, the slower tempo, the stripped down music and the melancholy, the story changes. Angelina is asking the other to stay but knows it is pretty much hopeless. She makes you hear, feel and live the story and infuses the emotions directly into your soul. Ivan is a great guitar player and yes it is incredible he manages to play at all being so close to ground zero! You saw he was feeling every note and second.

This video snuggly fits into the MASTERPIECE classification. In all respect to whomever was the original singer of this song Angelina's version is the one I would want to hear. D, the guitar player often plays for Angelina and so "kinda" knows what to expect. But, when you look at this video again you will see, like you suggested, he can barely keep it together. D, in regards to what's going on with Angelina, look at it in another way. Perhaps she's with us to do more then just sing for us. Just a thought...............

One of my favourite 150+ covers the guitarist is Ivan medez who would after work go hang out at ANGELINAS home pick a few songs a little practise and record mostly 1or 2 take Ivan has said if more than 1 take it was usually down to him, often record 3 songs in a day notice how she looks to her left reading the lyrics from her device.😊
