One of the most beautiful songs out there. And let's be honest. Swahili is one of the most beautiful languages and perfect for any song no matter if you sing about taking out the trash or "Malaika". It always sound great.
I've heard every rendition of this Kiswahili classic. It feels new and beautiful every time thanks to amazing African artists. Angelique gave it a soulful spin
Soha ilyen gyönyörűen nem hallottam még énekelni ezt a szép dalt. Még tőle sem. Néhol emlékeztet a magyar népdalokra. A szuahéli nyelvet hallgatni is csodálatos! Köszönöm!!!!
Wonderful rendition. I love the song so much, even tho I don’t understand the Swahili language. I could listen to the song all day. Love you, from Nigeria ❤️
Need to set the record straight here: Malaika is purely a Kenyan song done by the great Fadhili Williams. Well, Mama Afrika Mirriam Makeba got it wrong that the song was from Tanzania and Kidjo followed suit! Now we know, let's enjoy the song since music has no boundaries.
Originally song written in Tanzania then Fadhili performed for the first time but it comes from Tanzania But at the end Malaika is the best ever song in Africa
I think Miriam Makeba was wright as this song was composed and written by Adam Salim who was born in Tanzania 1911.He re-iterated how he was a mechanic and a musician who performed in Nairobi nightclubs in the 1940s - 50s. It is during these years that he composed and sang Malaika. It is said that Fadhili William was one of his young proteges, who listened, loved, and SADLY, copied the song. The young Fadhili then beat Salim to Columbia East African Music Company studios in 1960, where he officially recorded the initial two verses of the song in the company of the Jambo Boys band! The story is told about how Fadhili cashed Salim 60 Kenyan shillings, as a token of appreciation. Who knows, maybe this sealed a verbal agreement between the two, something the rest of us will never know.
