@@malambamukolwe6489 i think the song is in yoruba.... It will be hard not all benines speak yoruba 😂😂😂😂😂 we have like 15 at leats languages going there...
I was here after the Grammy, and I came back after her featuring with Yemi Alade in "Shekere" to comment. Who else is proudly proud to be an African ❤?
An Authentic Benin woman that we love so much. Started listening to her music when I was only 6, now am 36 and am still listening to this masterpiece and her music. Lusaka Zambia 🇿🇲🇿🇲 approves
Damn,I thought all along that this was from Brenda faso of South Africa 🇿🇦, so this is west Africa music, 90s music that bring beautiful atmosphere and memories in the 90s, it’s even Yoruba language she’s speaking, wow 😮, and she’s Yoruba from Benin republic, just neighboring country from Nigeria 🇳🇬, wow 😯, Yorubas are really good with music and culture wherever they are both in Nigeria,Benin republic, and Caribbean.
I hate all these noobs that don't know and appreciate good music only to end up ages later saying they are here because of grammy this or grammy that. This woman is a legend way before now.
I was a kid back in Benin 1990. We were proud of Angélique way before the rest of the World. The sound was rich, raw and modern at the same time. Here am I today and witnessing her faithfull to her roots. After 4 decades, she is so dedicated.
We need to actualise Wakanda forever ......Now !!!!!! And teach all of African generations to sing n dance to this timeless , masterpiece s that are the sheer essence of true Africanism...!!!!!!! Time we compiled some African club anthems .....Angelique is very much within this repertoire.......!!!!!!
You are very rigth .when i was in primary school we used to read a passage on Angélique Kidjo in "mon livre unique de français" l m now a woman just imagine
I'm a British girl from England therefore I am not African, but that doesn't mean I can't love this song. It's a great song and it's just amazing. I realise that it doesn't matter what colour skin you have or where you are from to like different kinds of music ! Be who you are, not what people want you to be so just be who you want to be. Don't worry about what others think ! -Megan Xx
You are African, your ancestors come from here then migrated centuries ago. So enjoy the vibe !!! And in another way, music is Universal... 2 reasons to enjoy it.
Only in the category of Afrofusion. I could give you a catalogue of incredible African songs from each country and you would appreciate how diverse our music is.
I'm from Brasil, a country with a strong african background and influence. After listening to over 20 african songs in a row, i feel some kind of strange, amazing sensation. I feel like i'm finally home.
I'm Nigerian but I love everything about Brasil...from Tais Araujo in film,Ronaldinho and Neymar in football,Adriana Lima in fashion to Iza,Luan Santana and Cassia Eller in music.
Waaaah it's 2024 and the music has refused to fade off, started listenibg to this track and Agolo when i was 7 today am 42 still listening. Then the video depicts african mystic nature, some songs will remain around till end of time. Kudos Mama Africa Angelique Kidjo.
Burna Boy isn’teven close to Angelique. She has been around long before we knew who he was. She also has an ear for music that Burna simply doesn’t. She’s got great vocals and has experimented with styles as did most of the African greats like Hugh Masekela, Fela, Ali Farka Toure, etc. The only people who think BB should have won are people who are ignorant of African music.
I first listen to this song in the BBC Network Africa program. My mom woke me up to get ready for school, then I heard this song and I started dancing. Africa is beautiful. Love from Sierra Leone 🇸🇱
Sorry Burna Boy, better luck next time. Angélique Kidjo belongs to a different world. This woman began her musical career long before Burna was conceived. She has maintained consistency in dishing out quality music. Well deserved Mama Africa
Love from Mexico, I love this song! Just discovered trying to find music from Africa for a multicultural class and found this remarkable track! Greetings and amazing song!
I came back here to watch the video again in 2023. I love, the warrior Queen vibes Angelica Kidjo reminds me of. I feel, i was a great warrior Queen in my past life as an African.
Was 6 years old why in exile in Ivory Coast 🇨🇮 because of my country Liberia's civil war then, used to dance to this music 🎶 with my mom and dad. Happy 2023 with u still enjoying this sound 🎵💯💕💪🙏
Rodrick Edmund Brown I 1st saw this on Jack's Big Music Show, a childrens' music program, and I've loved her since! Beautiful, makes me feel amazing... regardless that I do not understand all of the lyrics. The music, her voice & the overall beauty of the dance, dress & feel, just feels good. ❤
2023, still listening to this jam! Angelique, even now you deserve a Grammy for this work of art, it just still sounds soooo amazing after all these years...you are an icon, and proud to show your culture to the world. I remember when you drop This bomb...This masterpiece is timeless!❤❤❤
Nous sommes aujourd'hui le Mardi 19 décembre 2023 cette chanson me rappelle la journée culturelle au Ceg Avrankou dans le département de l'ouemé en 1997
The most hit song of all time,❤❤❤ Angelique kidjo legend of all time! This song was widely recognized by the entire world knowns as the best hit song ever!♥️🔥🔥🔥
Love this song! It makes me a proud African. Another reason why I like the song is because it matches my personality and every time I hear it I think of myself. Love from Eritrea!!!!
I was a little girl when this song came out, I didn't know what it meant but everytime Papa played it, I'd sing along and dance to it. To this day, I still do Angelique is an amazing woman with breathtaking music #PROUDLY AFRICAN
Her father is Fon and her mother is Yoruba (of Dahomey dialect, the Beninese Yoruba). She sings in both languages and so many other languages. She has so many songs in Yoruba but not as smooth as Nigerian Yoruba possibly influenced by her French, fon and other local dialects. You should listen to this her song, "Olofofo", deep deep Yoruba lyric.
@@tonyfrenzy Yes, the first comment is still right, at the end of the day she's part of the wide yoruba family, the Fon people are also descendants of Yoruba, so she should be half yoruba, half edo in reality as much as every other places she's an African goddess in general
I LISTENED TO THIS SONG IN MY CAR YESTERDAY!!! IF I HADN'T WATCHED JACK'S BIG MUSIC SHOW THAN I WOULDN'T HAVE NEVER KNOWN THIS SONG EXISTED! THANK U NICK JR! 😄😄 AMAZING SONG!
Proud of African Nigeria. I swear can't do without listening to this beautiful music when I was a little boy back in Nigeria on our black and white television, God bless Nigeria, 2020 still banging on my head right now
This Song EVERYTHING! It's been my Ringtone for over 10yrs now never heard anything better than this. Proud to be African all the way from Kenya in May 2019
2022 the year is about to end and i'm here to let you know there was once a legend called Angelique kidjo. Do not let this name fade from the planet okay? Share the gospel 🙌
