This song is no doubt legendary, but many bands had similar sounds even decades before. Not so much ahead of it's time but more so the mark of the end of an Era. I like to think the end is always more meaningful than the start.
This song is so criminally underrated. 11 million views is good, but this should’ve been one of the _big_ hits for Tom. It’s amazing, can’t believe it came out in 2007
Almost 15 years later I'm starting to appreciate AVA and Tom's choices in life more than ever. There's nothing more inspiring than someone who literally doesnt give a shit what everyone else expects you to do, and taking control of your own destiny.
So true… just guessing the “85” in your name is the year you were born, like me. We grew up with the best version of an iconic band in Blink 182. Never really got into AVA at the time of release, but am also currently starting to appreciate the music. Stay safe buddy.
People hate on Tom for doing what he does in that moment, but give it a few years and everyone gets it. I mean, look at Neighborhoods. People panned that album and Tom in particular when it came out. Now everyone loves it all of a sudden.
@@donknotts85 Just moved to San Diego and started listening to AVA more, just recently went to see them live it was great. Tom cracked jokes, talked about forming Blink 182, and shared some really deep personal stuff between songs. It was great.
Agreed they always say about people “he’s crazy for walking away from the money”. DREAMS are always more IMPORTANT than making money(unless your dream is to make money which makes your intentions unpure)!!!!
Right now. This song could cure anything. June 1st 2020 Edit: I’m pretty sure I’ve never had over 1 like or any comments ever when I post a comment lol still listening to Secret Crowds...
What a great song! I was 14 when Blink 182 blew up in the late 90s, then just about out of high school & going to college when Box Car Racer came about, and finally Angels & Airwaves for the majority of my adulthood. AvA is my favorite of all of Tom's bands...and that is saying something! I still listen to blink and am transported back to memories of teen angst, first loves, and limitless possibilities. Box Car was sort of the bridge between being a kid and a man, learning to feel deeply but still somewhat naive of the world. AvA have produced so many anthems that are so personal to me: what it is to be a man, a warrior, to stumble and even fall, to fail, but to then pick yourself up & refuse to quit...and find a rebirth that is more complete, fulfilling, and worthwhile than you could have ever imagined as a kid :)
"If I had my own world, I love it for all that's inside it." Nobody really cares about whether you 'like this better than blink.' Please just listen to the music and fuse it into your life in a positive way.
I wish more people truly didn't care in this world. You get a lot of that lukewarm putrid filfth out of folks. I like the way the guy sounds, and I'd like to see peace in this world as well. The lion laying down with the lamb will be nice.
Commiserating the litmus strip only adds the age old question, which came first, the acid or the base? (I know, I'm hilarious.) Goddammit now Lit is stuck in my head again. Sigh. BRB. Gonna go watch Pamela Anderson spin in a circle in electrical tape because then Tommy Lee stays completely miserable and barbwire bicep armband tattoos become a thing again. Because lol. #KeepHopeAlive
Idk I thought this song always sucked. Me and my girlfriend would always make fun of it. They'd always used to play it on that channel Degrassi was on. Holy fuck I can't believe this was 10 years ago.
You are right. I didn't look for this on youtube till I heard this on "One Tree Hill" which was an American TV show that aired a long time ago. That show had some pretty amazing songs.
We would watch mainstream media and eat up all their lies. We will hate anyone who thinks differently instead of keeping a open mind and having worthwhile discovery with each other. We watch the social media and believe what ever we want as long as we agree with the lies. We hate for no real reason and never question the elites who have raised and destroyed countless civilizations. I do believe the great awakening is upon us but it’s up to all of us to question and seek answers. LOVE ALL TRUST A FEW AND DO HARM TO NO ONE ONE. WAR IS DELIGHTFUL FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NO EXPERIENCE OF IT.
I watched "The Pursuit Of Tone" recently and it was very inspiring. It completely changed my attitude to Tom and AVA. I thought he just grew up and got bored but I don't see it that way after watching the pursuit of tone
I love Tom’s voice and style of melody in his music. There’s just an indescribable sense of euphoric comfort when listening to his voice accompanied with the sounds of electric guitars, bass, and drums. His music is the best antidepressant.
If I had my own world I'd fill it with wealth and desire A glorious past to admire And voices of kids out walking dogs Birds, planes, cleanest cars If I had my own world I'd love it for all that's inside it There'd be no more wars, death or riots There'd be no more police, packed-parking lots Guns, bombs sounding off If I had my own world I'd build you an empire From here to the far lands To spread love like violence If I had my own world I'd build you an empire From here to the far lands To spread love like violence Let me feel you, carry you higher Watch our words spread hope like fire Secret crowds rise up and gather Hear your voices sing back louder If I had my own world I'd show you the life that's inside it The way that it glows when you find it The way it survives with its families Friends or its enemies Let's make this a new world I swear you can go if you want to I know that you have it within you Inventing the first clean and usable God's greatest miracle If I had my own world I'd build you an empire From here to the far lands To spread love like violence If I had my own world I'd build you an empire From here to the far lands To spread love like violence Let me feel you, carry you higher Watch our words spread hope like fire Secret crowds rise up and gather Hear your voices sing back louder Let me feel you, carry you higher Watch our words spread hope like fire Secret crowds rise up and gather Hear your voices sing back louder Let me feel you, carry you higher Watch our words spread hope like fire Secret crowds rise up and gather Hear your voices sing back louder Let me feel you, carry you higher Watch our words spread hope like fire Secret crowds rise up and gather Hear your voices sing back louder
I'm 46 years old and think I´ve heard it all with Pantera, RATM, Mother Love Bone, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and so on but then I hear this I get excited. It´s so effin good. Most songs of Angels and Airwaves are so effin good I get a big smile on my face. More than that they feel existential. Like a small part of the universe that seems to connect. Perfect music just to look at the skies with.
I won't get tired of listening all over again to Angels and Airwaves. Really impressive. Makes me feel like I am in the edge of a cliff and my arms raised up high, just feeling the wind... haaay. And I just love Tom's voice. If I will be married, I hope they would sing and play on my wedding day! :)
+Kaneki Ken There is! It's right here :) I was 14 when Blink 182 blew up in the late 90s, then just about out of high school & going to college when Box Car Racer came about, and finally Angels & Airwaves for the majority of my adulthood. Every band was perfect for the period of my life I associate with them.
Exactly what I say.hes not going to continue singing about insecurities and pain etc from growing up,being a teen, broken family and whatever.he grew up.hes a man, mature.his lyrics and music is all uplifting and whatever.its pretty dam good I love it.im old too.FRANK W.
I remember when I was 14 I would boot up Tony Hawk Proving Ground on the PS2 and listen to this on the game. Nastalga. Makes me miss the good old days where everything was peaceful.
***** Hmmm now I'm curious, share your insight with me please... I've never heard of the term "space rock" before lol. What's the difference between space- rock, rock and grunge that is if you're aware if you don't know it's okay?
AVAs Adventure among other songs like Moon is My Witness, Flight of Apollo etc. They are definitive examples of space rock. Tom actually created a genre when he came up with Angels & Airwaves. AVA has so many great songs if you start to think about it... Sirens, Call to Arms, Breathe, Good Day, Epic Holiday, Hallucinations, Everythings Magic, Young London, Dry Your Eyes, Behold a Pale Horse, Shove, Lifeline... The list goes on and on. I myself like everything that Tom has done after Blink, he's a genius :)
One of my favorite songs of AVA. I am shame to say that after Blink broke up I rejected to listen AVA for many years. However, I fell in LOVE after listening "Heaven", I started recognizing the words of support, motivation and hope that these songs brought. AVA is always here to pick me up when I am think nothing makes sense.
Chloe Louise There's another great song from this album in season 6. How far into the show are you? I know this post was 7 months ago, but I gotta ask.
used to play this on the drums back in 2011... I miss this... an amazing and WORTHY nostalgic memory I've revisited.. Love you AvA, And Tom, for my childhood musical inspiration.. Blink was my younger years, and I'll never forget.
This song was right on time, and will be forever. - I wrote an essay on the lyrics of this song in highschool like 14 years ago when I was in a dark place and felt completely alone, scared and abandoned. I still need reminders like this that there's more to life than what we see and feel some days. Hope and Love are humanity's kryptonite. If you're ever struggling, remember that life is good, and will bring you a lot of happiness, even in dark places or times. Don't give up. Spread the word and love! We all need it!
